► After a long pause the Kids Hospital project finally continues! In this episode I'm sealing the drilled bottom of the aquarium. Next I will install all the hardware and start creating the hardscape. I cannot stress out enough the reason why I'm sealing the bottom. It is a great feature to hide the filter inflow. However, since this is not my personal aquarium and I need to keep the maintenance time as short as possible, I personally find it more convenient to use simple filter in and outflow that can attached from the dry chamber instead of using the drilled bottom.

Can I use “glass wall” tile for patching instead of the real glass that you used in the video?

Based on my experience, for this purpose rubbing alcohol is much better than window cleaner solution. In addition, I always apply glue around the patch, as well. Apply it thick and pull off the surplus with a card at a 45-degree angle. This way the mended part will be super watertight.

Install a bulkhead and cap it off. That way if someone changes their mind you haven't lost anything. That said the silicone method is nearly guaranteed not to leak

I have done this on the back of Aquariums and it works great. Will this also work well on the bottom under all that weight?

I did a lot better silicone work when resealing the shower cabin. But I knew it’s going to be visible and I would have to redo it if doesn’t look good. Are you ok with your kitchen silicone?

Omg lol I am horrible at it! If I did that it would definitely leak! But a good learning experience and tutorial watching you do it so I would definitely feel more confident doing it. Than jurijs!

yes can't wait to see how you will scape it and what you will decide regarding the aquarium lights, use the standard ones or better ones . Ik have the same aquarium in the 300 variant and I am struggling to come up with a good scape that fits that black background and non-optic white aquarium glass. So the question at the end of this video I have as well :D

I think I will go with the standard lighting, I only have tap water which is rich in minerals so it won't be super high energy setup

@@JurijsJutjajevs aha, well I was slightly considering a lower energy set up as well cause of less maintenance. George has done a nice job on a low maintenance some time ago in kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z7KZedqk3a7IkmQ.html in the same aquarium. I am pumped to see what you will come up with :D

Select glass tile the same thickness as the aquarium glass and use a lot of silicone

I have used bulkheads with threading tape on the back of Aquariums before. Is this a bad idea on the bottom? Especially of a very large tank like 230 gallons?

Maybe the scape should be something colorful, since it's a children's hospital and color can enhance a positive environment. And maybe some bigger size fishes so the children can see them swimming. I'm excited to see this project play out. What fun!

Local glass service companies. The ones who make windows etc.. tell them you need a 8-10mm thick tile of glass. Usually it’s very cheap as they can make it from scraps

Maybe try to go for a Zen-style aquascape like josh sim mentioned at greenaqua gallery. Never seen a good zen-scape with a lot of depth. (round stones, smoth shapes, all variations of green,...) Have fun!

@@ogricpatrik i like it, because its simple (low maintenance) and nice. I dont think that it has to be a scape for a contest - just one for peace. I also like the "simplycity-scape" from vladimir as i said before.

@@12345AlkHaida54321 I totally agree! I like a simple but good scape better since a contest scape is often over the top. Like George farmer said before, it just looks silly to recreate a forrest in an aquarium with swimming fish in it! So realistic :D But I do appreciate the craftsmanship put in those kind of scapes and designs but I do not prefer them. I did not know Vladimir's channel I just subscribed to him as well thanks to you! :D cheers

I was thinking something natural like a bio-tope just something low maintenance will loads of hiding places for the fish Incase they get scared as children like to tap the glass but looking forward to what you do am sure it’ll be amazing what ever 👌

I see, Perhaps measure out some painters tape around the hole to fit the square then spread the silicone and remove the tape for crisp lines!

with it having to be a low maintenance set up personally i would lean heavier on the slower growing plants ie crypts java fern anubias etc in a classic nature style layout . look forward to the next installment

@@JurijsJutjajevs im lucky in scotland our tap water is already ridiculously soft makes things easier . anubias should stand up to the tap water that stuff is pretty much bullet proof and has some really nice varieties these days . i'm sure whatever you come up with will be stunning as per your usual standards

As long as it works, it's fine 😂😂 for the chlidrens hospital I would run away from classic styles. I would try to use cartoon inspired things, like a "bikini botton" from Sponge Bob but with fresh water plants ofc. A colorfull, playfull and naturalistic look (I know it sounds a contradiction, using cartoon props and being natural, but maybe some mosses on top and looking like the props are coming out from the scape?) Not sure what were the "clients" idea, but I would surelly get away from the classic look! Thanks for the video Jurijs! 💚🙏

There is almost 3cm of silicone around the hole 🕳 test filling shouldn’t be necessary, but I think it’s something that should generally be done prior scaping a brand new tank. As long as you have never had an issue with silicone seals it’s all good, but after the first time you start thinking differently. I guess I will do a test filling and leave it 24 hours filled to see if it leaks or not

Hilarious chair noises.....leave it yo you to mention it.... for hardscape, since it is for children, I’d suggest a cartoonish mix or ceramic figures that perhaps tell a story..... a fantasy garden, maybe even artificial plants that are colorful... I mean, look at what the kids used to decorate it dry... so mimic that.... low maintenance with fake plants too..... just my opinion Jurijs!!!

Why did you let them order an Oase Aquarium if you dont use the hole? It's the only reason why I would buy an Oase tank. Waste hundreds of Euro's on that tank.
