Very intersting, wish we had boardsort!! Little point of interest, the junpers (the little white plastic things on the gold pins on the CD ROM boards) have lovely gold plating. Makes negligible difference to the weight of the board but they add up nicely for anyone doing gold recovery so they are worth taking off👍🙂

Great video. One thing I might add to it...on the paper bags, I would take the extra time to tape them shut as well. Just a small detail, but I have seen how the postal service handles packages sometimes, and I tend to "overkill" on my packing, just so there aren't any problems. I now have my computer up and running, so will be more interactive on the livestreams and hopefully will join in on occasion!!

Love the video! I have a pile of old computers I am starting to break down now, so the information was very timely! Shark Scrapper also has great video's on shipping to Boardsort, just FYI. And here's a "pro tip" for shipping heavy things you don't want to shift. When you build the box, take the two flaps on the bottom inside together end to end so they can not overlap or shift. It adds an extra layer of stability to the box. When you are done and start to close the box for shipping, tape the first two flaps together end to end as well. Doing this on both inside flaps will greatly increase the rigidity of the box overall. Thanks for sharing the information!!

I’m paranoid about losing $200 worth of eWaste too, so I tape the inside flaps like you mentioned. I’ve even spent a few bucks more to insure an expensive box. I think USPS insures up to $100?, but my first box was well over $300 in a large flat rate box. I had a bunch of RAM and working i-series CPUs. Cha-ching!

I bought about 1200 lbs HSS , M-42 , D-2 , Carbide , CP3M shipped to Chicago 68 to 69 lbs per box . The lady at the post office made sure all of the boxes where under 70 lbs and complained about each one all 15 of them .

That would be worth the drive. Gas would be less than shipping if you had a decent load! You could get paid for lower end stuff that wouldn’t normally be worth shipping (I live in Utah so the $3-$4 per pound is the bottom end of value I’ll ship to make it worth it)

Appreciate the info friend, I'm getting ready to send some RAM and I have quite a few server boards and some motherboards also, it's going to take a big box probably a few boxes so I don't have to send a great big one. I've never dealt with them before so hopefully I get the boards correct as far as the server type of boards go.

Very instructive James! I sold my only 2 Pentium CPU's on ebay a while back, for 2x the calculated gold recovery value. I haven't tried Boardsort. Also have sold on ebay, gold fingered RAM sticks, HDD boards, BGA chips, RAM chips and even HDD platters. I am due for a metal scrap yard run, Cu, Al, brass, SS, etc., hoping for $300ish. Gotta love the flat rate ship boxes!

$6.75 a pound for the Sata boards and $14.25 a pound for the non Sata like I had. Definitely a huge difference. Thank you brother and God bless you!

The CPU's are usually copper so I just peel the back off the back and put them in my #2 copper bin. I don't get many so copper is my better option

do you still remove all the copper components from the boards or sell them complete?

I personally remove them but some folks leave them on for the board weight. Some boards it’s required to remove certain things, like heat sinks, metal or plastic brackets, batteries etc. I’m going to be doing more videos on ewaste and how to prepare the boards for Boardsort and also how to depopulate boards and which ones to do. @@scrapitall200 that's good to hear because I don't know what a ic chip is from a bass drum and that would help to know whatnis what...I have boxes of boards that still have everything on them even the copper donuts and didn't want to cost myself money in the future by removing something I wasn't supposed to

Hi, just got my first huge load of escrap after scrapping full time for 6 years. I've had a small stash of boards but now will have a lot. The problem is I'm in North, Bay Ontario. How do I ship 500 pounds across the border cheaply? Do I send it all with my snowbird dad next time he drives to florida. The problem seems so ridiculous, there has to be a simple solution and I'm going to find it.

Wow, that’s a lot of weight. I honestly don’t know. I would say send it with your dad but I don’t know the laws as far as transporting that across the border. I do know Boardsort will accept packages from Canada, but that sort of weight would be outrageously expensive. There’s a scrapper who has a KZfaq channel called Big Country Scrapper and I think he’s in the Ontario area and he once said he was going to get into buying ewaste. Maybe look up his channel and I bet he has an email address you could use to ask him. Thank you for watching.

No! It has to be sorted and separate from each other. Boardsort also has a forum on their website where other folks have asked questions and been given answers, that should be helpful. I will be doing a bunch of videos about identifying and how to process different circuit board, I just need to find all the necessary circuit boards first lol Thank you for watching.

You’re the first person to notice that. When I was editing the video I noticed that myself lol. Fortunately they both sell for $46 a pound and I contacted Boardsort via email and gave them the heads up. Boardsort is really great at correcting any mistakes that might get made. Seriously... Right now, you can't even GIVE scrap metal away, it's not worth the time and fuel to haul it away. Collecting and processing minuscule amounts of precious metals isn't going to be profitable either.

It’s a hobby and it’s quite lucrative. Copper #2 is averaging around $3 a pound which is fantastic. Scrapping is doing really really well all over the world.

You can do a scrap run along with your everyday business. This will cut down the fuel costs because your killing two birds with one stone. Scrapping is profitable because people are just so wasteful.😊

I picked up 7 stainless Steel sinks and plenty of extruded aluminium etc just the other day when I drove past some tradesman the other day. They were simply going to take it to the dump. $200 worth of scrap metal for less than an hour of Work and not in the landfill. It's a win win and no work for the tradesman to take it away so everyone is happy.

I don’t want to spend that if I’ll only get an average of $3 a pound. So I’d like to learn the difference in the boards so I can get a better idea what I’m looking at and when I sell to bordsort, I know I’ll be making a profit. She’s got so many different kinds, I need help on learning what I’m looking at if you could

Ok cool, thank you for your response, this helps me to know what I need to do. I will say off the top of my head that at $5 a pound for circuit boards is typically way way over price. There will be exceptions to that if they contain certain cpus that are valuable. I thank you for your patience and I hope I can make some videos that you’ll find helpful.
