Another great video Terry! I had a catch can fitted pre delivery by Toyota! I drain mine every 5000km and replace the filter every 20000km. Like you said, they are fantastic as long as they are maintained and installed correctly.

It must be Beer O'clock on a Friday after work 😉 ..... Well, even the an old V8 petrol in my truck I run a catch can. I never "thought" it was ever needed (I've run V8's most of my life & never used one) but upon replacing my injection which is inside of the inlet manifold, I found plenty of oil in there & in the air inlet from the PCV return line, so... I fitted one. Admittedly, there is over 400k on the clock (but there is supposed to be create motor in it but at an unknown mileage?) it does make me wonder though?? Another good one Terry! hope you guys are well? Cheers! 👍👍(Oh! Very responsible disposal too!😁 )

I think all the fuss about when installing the new style 2X filter to the older housing with the vent in the lid is that they (M & H) say remove the vent in the lid when installing the 2X filter. From what I read, it is 100% safe to leave the original vent in the cap. In essence, you then have 2 vents - one in the lid and one in the base of the new 2X filter. Right or wrong though, I removed the vent in the lid on mine quite some time ago. Everything is working great. Loving the videos Terry. The 45 build is terrific. Cheers. Dave

I think steel mesh filter is aftermarket not mann and hummel genuine filter. Ive running mann and hummel since 2013 and never seen the steel mesh except on ebay replica reuseable filter. Also new version of the filter has relief valve built in under the filter. Where old ones did not have and it was venting on atmosphere which is located on your lid of provent 200. It became issue since it was venting to atmosphere when filter was clogged and i believe you may find yourself getting fined since you messed around with emission system. Anyway you may want to remove the relief valve on cap and replace with solid cap. :) hope this helps.

My foot is in your camp Terry and I have been using german engineered Provents for a very long time, including on new vehicles. Issues definitely can arise if they are not installed correctly, if they are not drained regularly and if they aren't serviced. I drain mine at each service interval, and sometimes in between if I am doing a lot of towing 9probably not necessary though). I service as shown here, every 40k kms which aligns with my transmission fluid change interval. If you see any oily residue on the outside of the Provent, this is normally an indication you need to drain and service it asap. I also believe that the stainless filter you removed is an aftermarket item that is marketed as never needing replacement. I doubt that, but maybe someone here could clarify. Keep up the great vids mate, I really do enjoy them.

That is awesome feedback Robert, thanks for sharing your experience. I think you are one the money with the stainless steel filter mate, that rings a bell now. Like you however, I’d rather change at regular intervals. I’m done this run on 200 videos for the time being, onto something new for next Friday...just not sure what yet🤔. Thanks again mate😎👍

Terry, I suggest you review the series of Provent videos from Direction-plus regarding that in-lid component which you threw away. It is associated with a change to the overall design that moves the over pressure vent from the top of the chamber to the bottom of the element.

@@JafffaAdventures not sure if you are correct. Old design must take out the inner plastic with the valve and insert the close cover plastic into the lid. This is what is written in the M&H information in deutsch. And therefore include as /2 in every filter carton. Cheers

Hi Terry, M&H states tha the new filter unit after 2020 has the overpressure valve in the bottom of the filter and the overpressure valve in the screw on lid should be replaced by the new close plastic cab. That is what it’s shown Have a nice weekend Cheers

That metal filter is a cheap Chinese version of the Mann+Hummel product. Had you used the genuine version from the beginning, you’d have caught way more than 1,5 litres of oil. I caught about 250-300 ml of oil in only 5000 km. Let us know how your new filter works
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures 9 ай бұрын
Incorrect, both the metal and the nylon versions are genuine M+H. The nylon version has been in place now for 5 or so oil changes. It catches the same amount (between 50 and 100ml) per 5000km as the old stainless steel version did. Others I know with the same application and vehicle as I have, report similar volumes to me. If I was catching 250-300ml per oil change, I’d consider that alarmingly high and be looking for reasons why. Go well mate.

Hello, did the blank off plate cause your engine to throw a code? Did you have to do anything with the software to get the engine to work with the plate?
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures Жыл бұрын
Yes, you definitely need to deal with the ECU or it WILL throw a code. I had the blank off plate installed when I had the Safari Unichip installed and the car dynoed. The ECU was reprogrammed at that time. Cheers👍😎

@@JafffaAdventures Thank you for the quick response! Was there anything done to the throttle body? I’m not sure if the 200’s V8 has a throttle body, but my Hilux does. From what I understand a throttle on a diesel serves primarily to create a vacuum to pull EGR gas into the manifold
