Its a good idea to aim for the widest clearance. Clearances on bucket followers get tighter over time due to valve recession. The lower figure is the point where it shouldn't be allowed to go any further without adjustment. Also at the wider end of the range the valves remain closed for longer which helps cooling of the valve. Finally, it extends the amount of time needed between this ass ache of a procedure,

Im doing a psa puretech 1.2 rebuild. Runs fine but sounds like a tin of gravel. To the best of my knowledge I decided it best to measure the clearances in 3 positions, 9 'oclock, 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock then took the average of the 3. I used a micrometer on the feeler gauge for the actual reading. Would you recommend measuring in 3 places? Really not alot of help out there on this.

Thanks for the info

Thanks so much for this video, it really helped me figure out how to do this. Pain in the ass though. Hydraulic is the only way to go unless you want race performance..

My 2AZFE engine ticks so I measured the valve clearance. I can use .305mm filler gauge to slide under three of my intake valves, since specs indicates 0.19mm to 0.29mm, do you think these can cause the ticking noise? they are out of specs, but by not much.
this is frustrating. i just wanna know how the damn valve lash is adjusted not a tutorial on mic use or a math lesson.

It is literally a case of matching the tappet to the specific valve. A right pain and pointless on a junk engine. Thank goodness for hydraulic lifters eh?

I think it is white mine as well.. it's not soo bad; because. Just pul up the sides with bearing on cams and put them in...buying is hard because you have to get the ones that u need... each kit you buy has like 6 but you night need 6 different sizes.. that's money. But could be done very easily.
