Never setup a boost controller before? First turbo build? No problem. This video is made to teach you a surefire way to take your car down the track and set new personal bests every pass! There is no secret sauce and it really is this simple!
Whether you are using an AMS 1000 or 2000 by NLR, Holley Boost Control, Hyperaktive, Haltech, Fueltech, or one of many more they all use these same principles.
Our intent with this video is to show you exactly what it takes so that you can go out and do it yourself without hiring a tuner, without being frustrated, so you can get the most out of your car!
To order the Mac Valve setup shown (please confirm compatibility with your system if not using Holley) click the link below!

A tech tip about drag aero would be really useful. Specifically explaining when and why you need a rear wing like the one you installed last week.

The video is so helpful considering we are making the switch to co2 boost control with the Holley. You should make a video of how to wire them to the Holley and what pins and I/os to use

Very informative, enjoyed this video. Absolutely correct about the first half of the 1/4, it is what makes the Dodge Demon such a monster, Dodge really took their time when it came that portion of the car and it shows.

Yeah I bought a boost controller from Ali at the time I did not know what type of controller I need it so I trust it the guy at Holly point me in the right direction I told him I had a simple Mustang 302 Turbo sure enough he sells me their most expensive high flow boost controller over $300 after months of trying to get the boost Control to work with no CO2 bottle I was unsuccessful so now months have gone by and I have learned more about boost control setups I have to purchase one from motion raceworks. I love Holly stuff but I do not like some of their tech support most of them don't know what the hell they're talking about there is like two people there that are good now this is with my experience

Just now watched this vlog. Question for you cuz I’m still learning this. I know you stated you start this with a well tuned engine. We are starting to add sensors so I can see what the engine is doing during a pass, starting with afr sensors in our collectors. What is the difference in ratio you want to stay within on AFR’s between the left/right side? I noticed on your log it appears your left to right is approx .5 different. Again I’m learning and trying to make sure we are keeping everything within the proper parameters to ensure we are getting everything we can. We don’t run any power adders, just run a bbc carbureted on E85 and have no sensors anywhere currently other than temps. Currently installing bungs for afr sensors and an MSD 6AL-2 programmable ignition box.

Probably would be nice to have another a video like this but the more basic or beginner set up without a boost control just springs how to route a turbo kit basic functions of the gates while it being in the system and blow valves that I think a bunch more people would relate to including me that really dont race in the quarter mile and just drives in the streets and freeway

I have seen some youtube channels where they had MAC valves fail. I work with them in industry and when they cycle literally 9,000 times in 24 hours they last years IF they have the proper support. I wonder if any of you folks ever lube your mac valves ?? Typically in an industrial system an air oiler is in the system. There are special oil free valves and cylinders but they are pretty expensive. I would think a drop of air tool oil every now and then would see to it that a MAC valve on a race car would live literally forever ? Another pro tip is that any low voltage (non 120V) mac valve is in fact a "pilot operated valve" and that seems to be the portion that fails. When this happens the valve MAY work fine when you manually toggle it. Pilot operated just means that the valve uses supply gas pressure to help shift the spool for those that do not know :-).

Good info! And good questions. I think another problem is there are some knockoff brand Mac valves going around as well. Most of the failures we see when people call are from the customers buying generic or from unknown sources that are selling knockoffs.

@@MotionRaceworksOfficial Another crazy thing to think about/remember with CO2 is that is is actually soluble in some kinds of rubber, friend found that out with butyl rubber bicycle inner tubes. Should not matter with O-rings but it might drive you nuts with some other stuff :-). I would think that the included lube that comes in your MAC valves from the factory might last the lifetime of one on a race car maybe. But if there are any failures I would lube them once a season maybe.

Hi Doug...just found your channel and have started watching. I have a lot to catch up on. It seemed that this was more for a turbo than a supercharger but since boost is boost, how do you factor in the shift changes where there is potential for the tires breaking loose? Do you hold back on the boost to get the nice smooth curve shown in the vid or do you reduce the boost at the shift and then bring it back onto the increasing curve. My datalogs make me believe that Dodge cuts boost (open the bypass) on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts but it may just be the way I am driving. I had not thought about logging G-Force. I am going to have to work on that one. Thanks

New to boost. How you’re basing this off of the transbrake, what about footbraking? I have a transbrake but didn’t use it much as NA. So now that I’m going boost I was going to stick with the footbrake for a while. So is this all still applied to that?

How closely does your boost datalog follow the dome pressure ramp? I'm running an S491/102 on a 5.3 vs. twins on a 388, so I'll have to figure out how responsive it will be to such an aggressive ramp. I'd like to leave on 10psi, and will be using a timing ramp as necessary while dialing in the suspension. I'm thinking even if I ask for 20 pounds of dome at 1.0 seconds, I might not get the boost number I'm looking for. Off to test! Thanks guys.

What do you do if you feel that the Mac valves don’t fill some fast enough. If you have your time table at transbake dome straight to full boost no ramp but still feel like dome don’t feel like feels up fast enough
@jefflowry4112

This is a problem sometimes when you dont have onboard pressure source (like C02) and you have to lead the requested dome pressure sometimes - or even when guys do have C02 and set their regulators too high (the valves dont like to open against really high cracking pressure) I like to use 2 3port solenoids to do what is normally done with a 4 port because the shuttle valve has to travel half the distance to do the job which can only help response as well

509CAMARO depends if it is clutch less or not, for a clutch car sometimes a boost by gear works best.
