What a great pattern. So simple and yet so cute. I love the idea of an apron for my sewing room. Using sewing themed fabric would be so adorable. I am thinking aprons would be a great family Christmas gift. Either make them all the same or personalize each person's fabric based on their own likes or interests.

If you line your apron, you can avoid all the turned-in edges. Just another way to simplify your apron. 🌻

As you were doing the neck strap, it looks like you could also put a button and button hole and make it adjustable OR easier to get on over your hair. Just an idea. Cute apron and I need one fast, need it for tomorrow in fact, so going to give this a try. I hope. If not, I will give it a try soon because I need to get a few made ahead of time. Thank you for the easy instructions.💕

I make a lot of my own patterns and I've found the easiest way is to buy a roll of medical exam table paper to put my measurements on to have a forever pattern piece. I find that is so much easier than tracing from an existing article of clothing.

I usually put a little strap un the side of the apron to hang a small hand towell. So I have it literally on me all the time while I´m moving around in the kitchen! and Also put the straps before you do the edges of the apron. That way you hide the borders..

You could add ruffles pretty easily to this too, to the hem and neck edge if you want to make a fancy 'hostess' apron. Also, since this is only one layer does it feel flimsy? I would want to do two of the body parts, with the straps sewn in between. This would also make it reversible.
@PinCutSew
@PinCutSew 2 жыл бұрын
That’s true, good idea! The one layer does the job, but I do like the thicker fabrics best.

So if you sew one end of the apron strings, how are you supposed to get the safety pin to go through the other end? I’m sure I’m missing something.
@PinCutSew
@PinCutSew 8 ай бұрын
You put the safety pin on the closed end and then sort of invert that end into the tube. Once you get it started, the safety pin will move right along. I hope that makes sense!
@leewiley1944
@leewiley1944 8 ай бұрын
Another way to easily turn tubes right-side-out is to use a pencil with an unused eraser. Put it in eraser first. Tada! ✏️

I wonder why you folded your material exactly in half leaving 2 narrow strips after cutting your patrern out? I was taught to fold the fabric to accommodate the pattern piece width and leave one large scrap instead of 2 narrow ones. I see this in a lot on videos on KZfaq. Does it really matter if you are trying to be frugal?
@PinCutSew

I usually cut the straps out of those strips, so it gets used either way 😊
