How To Shim A Prop Shaft Strut | Healey Boat Restoration Part 7

In this video I am installing an epoxy shim that will correctly align the prop shaft strut again with the shaft log ahead of final installation.
This shows a process from the Gougeon Brothers Book On Boat Construction for installing hardware that requires a cast pad or shim to mate it to an uneven surface. The process involves waxing the hardware item with a release agent and creating a shim with West System Epoxy and 404 high density filler.
In the next video we will be doing the final preparation and application for topcoat paint on the bottom of the boat.

Ha ha ha I saw that what we call here in the states a breakfast cereal dispenser in the background holding your fillers. Absolutely genius idea I will be stealing that if I ever have a big fiberglass project thanks

That’s exactly what it is, I bought it from a commercial kitchen supply shop and it works a treat for dispensing epoxy filler additives! 😆
