Had no idea about the thick skins on the seeds; this must be why I have failed in the past with growing these!

I bought wildflower seeds last summer and only one lupin plant grew back. The base of the plant look like a big root and leaves grow back after dead heading in the fall. NO special treatment needed

Such a helpful video - thank you! Just to confirm - in all cases, would you recommend using sandpaper and soaking prior to setting them in the growth medium or paper towel?
@enviiuk
@enviiuk 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Yes, breaking the shell of the seed with sandpaper is the best way of ensuring germination, so we'd suggest doing that whether you are setting them straight into the growth medium or paper towel. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much it’s very informative and helpful. If I wanted to straight sow it in my garden bedding would I follow the same steps? Would it still germinate and grow outdoors in the cold?

I sowed lupin seed right in the veggie patch which i dug the lupin into they grew good,,,, youd have to google their cold tolerance according to your location in the globe

@@raewyncormack2461Did you still have to break open/cut the outer seed when direct sowing outside?

Once they’ve germinated do they need to be put in a sunny position or somewhere cooler? Thanks!
@enviiuk

Hi, sorry this comment must have been missed! Hope you've managed to grow them on okay. Lupins prefer a sunny position once they've germinated and established.

@@enviiuk hi yes they look ok but some of the leaves have turned yellow. Not sure if it’s to do with watering or the fluctuation of temperatures in the greenhouse?

I have lupine seeds, but they don't look like yours. Which I have to be bigger why? If I plant what I have will bloom too or is it different

from my experience this does not work with silvery lupines, a native wildflower, they end up root rotting once they have there leaves, and no im not over watering.
