This is the spray basting method I use on all of my quilts. I have demonstrated it using my Modern Logs Quilt. See links below to get the materials needed to make this quilt

Oh my gosh! I love it all and you make this whole process so calm in my mind. I believe I can do this and its good to know about the BIG BOARD for ironing. I think that makes a HUGE difference with bonding all together. Two other things that I want to share. I have 2 white IKEA tables that move up and down for height. I plan to purchase your "Christa Block Stoppers" for these tables so that I can sit or stand to quilt my large projects. Also, your book (How Do I Quilt It) is fabulous! Between your book and tutorials, I am stress free about starting to quilt my own quilts at home. Thank you for saving me tons of money and having the satisfaction of getting it all done on my own vs heading to a long armer to finish. You're the best!

Stay stitching is great. have put a narrow serged line on quilt tops to keep them from splitting at seams and from raveling.

Fabulous quilt. I watched this on Instagram and just spent about 5 hours tracking it back down, I forgot about the wall in between the outdoors and the ironing board. I’ve now reviewed every spray baste video on you tube, insta gram, Facebook, Pinterest, AND tictoc. Also, it’s 230am. :)

Thanks, Christa! This was a great tutorial. I am going to attempt to quilt my first project larger than 40" on my home machine. This basting process will make it go so much more smoothly!

Christa, thank so much for demonstrating this method. I used it this weekend (having watched the handful of videos available on line, yours included). I have a large design wall 96 x 96. I used June Tailor spray which calls for spraying the batting first. (requires 100% everything for it to wash v. dry clean out--so a monstrous mistake if someone has poly batting). It was my first time spray basting with commercial (I used fusible web/homemade basting and did on my ironing surface). I did open a window for good ventilation and had no problems. I have never used the commercial basting before. I've used fusible web (in spaced strips) and homemade basting spray. Really the method is like hanging wallpaper! Ruler worked terrific to smooth the fabric onto the batting. I should add that I had a garment steamer, which did a great job of relaxing the batting. Truly a game changer. (I also tested the steamer with an area for fusible web....the steamer was hot enough to fuse it...so I can still use that method if I wish to). I did not have to do any further ironing. So that was nice! I did one half (top to bottom, left, then right) of the quilt each time and ensured that my seams stayed straight. I used the edge of my ruler and kept a leading edge of the fabric against the batting to ensure no distortion. The backing was so tacky I did not want to get ahead of myself.. My last quilt that was largish I was doing on my 24 x 48 ironing surface with fusible web. I dot a little helter skelter on the line up and I had to piece in backing to get coverage. Geez. This quilt (for my maiden voyage) was 72x72 This method provides perfect line of sight top bottom and both sides. Does require a Jane Fonda step workout! Any who has not tried this method, should give it a go. It is brilliant!

I just posted this same question to an older video. Would you mind demonstrating this method using a table for those of us who don't have room for a design wall? Thank you!
