I love seeing two people actively choose devotion to one another. In times of crisis, being their peace. Choosing to be calm even in your times of over stimulation. These are so real. It’s so easy to lash out, but once you recognize that’s what you’re doing and then choosing to do the hard thing and be loving. Trueeeee devotion. Amazing.

When I first saw this video pop up I say out loud “mom? Dad? Do u have something to tell us??” But after the first 10 seconds of Shan gushing over Jared my heart calmed down. Love y’all so much! ❤

I hope you never stop making these types of videos between you too. My own life parallels yours so much and I find comfort in knowing my experience is not isolated. Being an entrepreneur, managing 2 clingy toddlers, work piling up, being exhausted, trying to find ways to show up for each other, while also managing employee turnover, it's all a lot. There are days I'm so sure I'm an absolute failure, but videos like these normalize these phases and remind me there's a way forward as long as we have each other's back. Thank you thank you.

Just three minutes in, but just wanted to chime in really quick and say; I noticed a huge change in the ability to be a working parent once my kid went to primary school. That gave me at least way more space for my own thoughts and my company. Those pre-school years are brutal. Hang in there!

I’m feeling this! I’m heavily considering taking a break for a few years to parent much more. Instead of using my retirement savings for that, I’m gonna see about how it would look to use it for these years where they need me the most

@@shanboody The COVID-lockdowns in a way forced me to do just that and in retrospect I am thankful for that time with her that I otherwise would have spent running around and working. Also, it doesn't have to be all or nothing of course. Perhaps there is a 'happy medium' where you can, in their pre school days - dedicate time to e.g. one project (let's say the podcast) - in stead of thinking about work in terms of a career? Parenting is work too. Grossly underpaid, if you ask me ;)

As Jared brought up abandonment and Shan asked what helped Jared move through abandonment in their relationship - it made me think of the significance of rupture and repair. it’s molding every part of your life as you move through it, something is always evolving - and sometimes that’s moving with or away from each other. And with each moment of rupture/repair - I’ve watched you both move through. Your “rupture and repair” account is PHAT.

Jared has always been able to vocalize and articulate himself really well but I don't think I've ever heard him talk about the love and support he gets from Shan quite in this way before 🥹. that was beautiful yall. I think I remember Shan mentioning in a past video how she was hoping Jared might open up more in this way and this was it. I truly love to see the development.

Your relationship is rare but not impossible. I used to think the same thing until I found myself in peaceful relationship. We all come packaged with some kind of issue. For most of us it's abandonment. Whatever the trauma it comes with a default defense mechanism we adopt to protect ourselves. We then get into intimate relationships and because that's when we tend to be the most vulnerable, we communicate mainly through our defaulted defense. Communication is key, but it's also about building trust. Feeling safe. When you can trust/feel safe with each other, you listen better, which just leads to better communication... but you have to find someone capable and willing to work through that with you.

12:25 I respect and appreciate this level of humility, spoken honestly on a platform like yours. Not a lot of people are willing to not only admit this but heal with your partner and grow together... and you said it so casually an I feel like that's the most important part because it doesn't have to be some terrible "Oh no I'm so toxic"😂 it's like acknowledge it and apply the "know better, do better" attitude, nobody's got their sh.t but some love play pretend.

They are a perfect match, being married, on top of being parents and working together, they let their egos fall away and boost each other up even in stressful situations. Distance always makes the heart grow fonder.

I’m not even done with this video but I just needed to express how much I love y’all. I have been watching you together since the very beginning’s of your relationship and the way you put into words intimacy and navigating relationships and just are able to model healthy communication has always been such a beautiful thing to witness and it truly does inspire me. You help me believe in the love and the possibility of creating and recreating a life you love over and over again. Thank you Shan and Jared for being you and sharing with us. You are both amazing and even more incredible together. Always routing for y’all and this life you’ve created 🤍

The everyday working individual doesnt really have much time on their hands. your job takes a 3rd of your day, your kids/spouse takes another 3rd of your day and then taking care of house duties/arrands takes a 3rd of your day. what time do we really have for ourselves? our days off from our jobs/careers?.... people dont even have time to cook as much for their families or themselves. they have to spend their days off cleaning and catching up. You really have to be on a schedule and intentional to make it all work out to your benefit! you have barely any time to pause! gotta make good decisions in order to work on your self/health and hobbie/dreams!

I am HERE for the marriage content. Expecting my second and luckily it’ll be closer to 2 under 3. I can’t remember if it was this one or the Columbia episode, but I felt so *ok* about the fact that we don’t sleep in the same bed right now either. To hear a sex and relationship expert say it’s ok to go however long without physical intimacy lessened a lot of fears society will instill. And hearing how you communicate with one another, choose one another - SO refreshing. I’m still trying to break patterns of attacking my husband when I’m overwhelmed rather than seeing him as my partner and life raft. So thank you for modeling a beautiful and harmonious marriage in arguably one of the most difficult times.

I'm feeling the same vibe from you than at one point we had about will and jada. Super reflective and mature... But at the same time with some "modern" ideas thrown by Shan. I feel for Jared, I perceive is hard for him to keep up with this image of aware husband, the vibe is very idealistic in this video.
