I'll add that we weren't aware of this book until I'm just now watching this video. We also were down to Arkansas and Missouri ourselves and landed on Missouri. But southern area. We still need to find work and Branson offers that (my wife is a sous chef and a food&beverage director- lots of opportunity for her, and I can do multiple different things). One thing I thought I remember was Tennessee is the #1 highest state income followed by Arkansas. I also thought Missouri based employers might offer better health insurance on average as well. We also looked at the price of land and in the northern Arkansas Southern Missouri area, it was a wash, just like the weather. We did not below zero winters or 115+ degree summers (like we get here in Phoneix). We also have no family or friends within about 1,000 miles. Took us about 3 years to get to this point but early 2024 will be when we relocate. Great content, and it's great to see little tidbits about the area as we will be moving to a similar area.

Thank you! Merry Christmas to you! We can’t wait to get back to the cabin. It’s so strange being back in central Texas where it seems like every open space is being filled with a strip mall or housing development. Certainly makes me grateful for our little cabin in paradise.

Merry Christmas! Btw, we have this book as well - I know Missouri has many of the advantages you mentioned but they are not a low taxation state, when considering property, income and sales tax.

Merry Christmas, and thank you for the videos. I probably missed it somewhere, but I was curious. What did your property cost, and how many acres did you end up with. It looks HUGE!!! And yes, thats a good thing. Plenty of room to do anything you want!

Just as a fun fact: While it's true that they aren't making more land, however, in canada (the second largest country) for example a staggering 41% is federal crown land and 48% is provincial crown land, and only 11% is privately owned land. Yes, part of canada is frozen wasteland, but people been living in those conditions for thousands of years. And with the changing climate, in just a few short decade that wasteland could easily become the most sought after land in the world.

while I dont personally believe that's likely, you may very well be right! I hope for the sake of adventurous Canadians that land there & doing something with it gets a little easier.

@@woodysbarndominium You can buy and outright own crown land with relative ease, you just have to jump a few hoops. Some parts are off limit of course, like national parks and native land, but for the most part it's up for grabs. The problem is that it's mostly remote and largely inaccessible. You'd need your own small aircraft or something like that to get there. Most people just don't want to put up with that, which is understandable. But things change. In a few decade I might get back to you with "I told you so!" 😃

I can't believe that people are bitching about this video. I took this particular video as a PSA. While I probably wouldn't align with you guys politically, I enjoy watching your beautiful family doing what my wife won't allow us to do. I envy your decision.
