Thanks for the tip! It made me understand how I can use the external signal processor on my MS20 (RD-8 trig to Signal in and then Trig out back to Ext clk in) to trig the steps on the SH101. Really one of the most useful and musical trig/sync ways when working with SH101 and a drum machine.

Great video ! I have a question: I would like to output the sounds of my rd8 independently on ableton (in usb or audio). Is it possible to have the RD8 as an audio interface? or that each instrument is on a single audio track? (to work on stereo)

The clock divider was removed (by mistake) in a previous firmware update, but it's back in the latest one.

Because so many MIDI devices are able to provide a clock it can be tricky to work out what's going on if they're all on one port. I guess most ppl don't notice as it's common to use different ports instead of 5 pin In, Out, Thru midi loops. (USB) MIDI-OX (PC) and MIDI Monitor(Mac) can help identify issues with multiple clocks. MIDI-OX is also a great switchboard for patching and filtering individual ports.

Is there any videos like this only hooking up the ms 101 and the tr8s trying to figure out how to do this with my drum machine

Hi there. I am not sure about how to ask in the right way but: I use tbe RD-8 and a microkorg in sync via midi (the mk is the master at the moment) and some of the key notes always trigger some notes of the RD-8! Other way around it's the same...if the Behringer is the master/clock, it triggers always some keys of the mk. I've tried things like switching the midi channels, but nothing has worked so far. Do you have any idea what the problem is? Thanks in advance. Nice channel!

Thanks! What i still haven't figured out or managed to do is sync the ms-1 to my daw, including having the ms-1 responding to the daw start/stop. Cubase 10.5 user by the way.

Hi, thanks for the vid. I tried it with midi, and there is some kind of sync: when I change the tempo on the rd the ms follows, but the sequence itself isn't syncing at all. The tempo dial on the ms also still works. Any idea what to do?

Trying to sync my td3 with midi and it’s not having it.. I can’t get it to play the sequence the td3 has been programmed to play.. it plays a random sequence that the rd8 is making.. and when I switch the rd8s midi out channel to anything other than one the td3 puts out no sound??

That's great! Can you sync the arpeggiator via midi too? I tried this with the crave and failed.

When I do this and try to change the 24PP by turning that knob nothing happens. It doesn't change. Any ideas as to why? cheers

Is it possible to sync the ms-101 to a daw through usb. The daw has a midi clock but i cant seem to match it to the tempo of the daw im using.

fixed see comments yay wounded your set up looks so easy too easy, I have the correct lead to sync but every time i try the ms1 doesnt here the midi clock from the rd8 so no sync it just plays the sequence as mnormal with its own time, not what i need, this should be simple right? i have reset the rd8 to factory settings still no joy. my 1/8th inch jack is stereo does that make a difference i wounder? if nto am stumped at the min, been trying for over 2 hours

when I clock out from my volca drum to the clock in on my Rd8 Mk2 and do as this video says; the data wheel won't change the clock to anything other than the 24pps

i cannot trigger the rd8 from abelton using the midi in and out only the usb ?

Mine doesn't. I have the sync out from the RD6 connected to the EXT Clock in on the MS1 and when I press play on the MS1, it just starts playing by itself. Do you have to open the synth tool to change the settings or something. In the video, he did nothing else except connect the cable and press play????

I can't figure out if the RD8 uses TRS-A or TRS-B. I'm trying to clock in to the DIN sync out of my x0xbox, and I can't get it to sync at all. I figure I must not have the right adapter for the DIN input of the x0x but that thing is so old theres not much info out there

I connected it with mininova, yes, it is synchronized, but the mixers do not react to the berenger ms 1, but are only regulated by the mininovost, as I already threw the midi inputs, only the berenger toda works, and there is no mininovo how to make sounds change on the berenger so that the mininovo plays and the sound is changed by the berenger to that synthesizer and the sound is shol with mininova I've already tried everything the midi inputs are synchronized, but only in the direction of mininovo from mininovo and the mixers are regulated, but not on the berenger The owner of the sound mixers is a mini-new synthesizer and the beringer is only synchronized and if the midi pro is reversed, then the sound is only from the berenger, not at all

did you noticed that the ms-101 is acting a tick earlier than the master when synced via midi?

It doesnt work for monolouge with rd 8. What can be the problem?

I wish Behringer would include Midi sync enable/disable from the front panel. Unless you can and I missed it.

Has anyone succeeded in triggering the MS-1 sequencer other than a tempo clock? Running a sequence via a rimshot trigger from the RD-8 for example. This used to be a standart trick on the original SH-101.

trying to sync my ms 101 to a tr 606 trig out. But when I hit play on the ms101 it doesn't wait for the 606?

sync issues with rd8 mate just confirmed.. what i thought.....many vids showing the rd in standalone with no other stuff synced the rd drifts even with new firmware ....will be returning mine ... as mine drifts in out slightley but dont sound right almost if triggers early n late .....and yes before anyone asks tried syncin to muliple sources daw,mpc live and x ,also tried changing audio leads its 100 percent th rd-8

And why not just use a RK-004 or RK-005 for retrokits.com? Or use a RK-002 and filter all out except sync. Sorry I’m a retrokits fanboy. There is also a Midi Solution box which filters out midi message not needed.
