I solved the problem with uv unwrapping, but the materials in the way from this video lay down very very crookedly. The previous method with creating an id map works well even for complex models.

I use this method a lot and currently using this method for a game mod, but is there a better method that uses up less space? I feel like using the same texture for multiple objects but having them uv unwrapped separately due to overcrowding the unwrap is the challenging part

I don't exactly understand your question, I'm sorry. You can try to bake different models into one texture map. This uses up less space. I think baking maps is what you are searching for. It is a little bit complicated so I can't describe it in a comment but there are many useful tutorials on this topic. I'm sure you will find the answer.

I`m a long time Blender user wanting to learn Mixer and and Unreal, and I have no idea what`s going on here😁 Guess I need some more basics to understand why you did that thing in Blender and how it interconnected with your model

Hello, what I did in Blender was just a showcase that you need to have materials applied on your 3d model so you can texture the different parts later in mixer. I used the canister in mixer because the cube was too simple. Once you get into it, it gets really easy! :)

do you need to unwrap? i mean or can just texturemap?

I unwrap it in Blender with smart uv project everytime :)

Your method doesn't work for custom models because there is no raw material and later on the Quixel mixer can't find the uv map

Sorry but if you unwrap your model (what you should do everytime ) it should definitely work. What do you mean by raw material?

I did everything just like you did applying materials and unwrapping but it didn't work!!

@@UnrealMatter when I import the fbx file to Mixer it doesn't showing the martials where I can edit them I mean target texture set.

@@alhusseinali That is very weird, maybe try the old method with assigning material id's but if you assigned materials in blender it should work

Quixel still doesnt have baking right?

Baking is combining multiple texture maps to one map. I think mixer can do this in it's new version.

@@philipsloth6600 I don't really understand. I showed how to bake the textures in this tutorial. You assign multiple texture and then when you export, you get one combined map.

This is very nice, and texture I'd is no problem to make, I remember and make all model in mixer, before used substance painter, and is too expensive program, where go to subscription model and buying adobe's, this for FREE is can belive program....I'm on witching this program on eye, but I have problem when I made model(textures for model) its see seams, and just that problem have, I must try now to see if that is no problem anymore, but im amater for mixer, substance painter I know excellent!Very nice videos subscribe from me keep goings!❤
