The theory seems to be: if an inch thick steel casting broke, a quarter inch thick superficial weld with oil in it will work just fine.
@shannonfamily7 ай бұрын
I think, dirty and oily on top of dirty and oily cancels itself out. It'll be fine. On one hand I think...they know the roads, they say its good, its good. On the other hand, I think they just set up their next repair job. Either way anyone who's ever had to do bush repairs knows that the best repair is the one that holds and you use what you brung (AvE)

That type of stress fracture + deformation has surely compromised the overall structural integrity of the assembly. But I don't imagine they let small details like that get in the way of their daily business. Just a guess, but I could be wrong....

There is a formula here: If you need it, figure out how to repair without buying a new one, and of course, low cost labor and re-use scrap material for structure strength and you are back in buisiness. Yes even in Canada we have to do an occasional "bush fix" and these repairs tell that story. Amazing what can be done with will and strength!

It scares me just thinking about what caused a catastrophic break! Truck bed full of lead bricks going off a jump?? I'm not a welder by trade but aren't you supposed to pre-heat cast iron parts before you weld them? And aren't you supposed to clean the parts first or just gob a crap ton of weld beads on it and call it good? Love the shot when the head fell off the 100 yr. old hammer. Not exactly the type of repair you would expect from the Cat dealer!
