Күн бұрынHere we are upgrading the RAM in my Dell Inspiron 15 series Laptop. The laptop only comes with a 4gb stick and editing videos has been challenging with the amount of lag. During the editing of this video with the new RAM I experienced a much much better experience. I highly recommend doing this if you find yourself in a similar situation.

Thanks for talking and explaining while you were doing it! It makes a huge difference. The other videos were silent so it was hard to know what they were doing. Also, thanks for showing the easy way. The other videos show them taking them completely apart and it looks really difficult.

Unless I'm mistaken the ram stick that you replaced the old one with is the same amount of GB, (eight?) is there a reason why it would run better then the one that is already in there? :o I have the same make and model of laptop as you and i would also like to upgrade, but it seems like 8 gigabytes is the highest amount that it goes to for this kind of stick(?). and according to the sticker on the preinstalled kingston one, it allready is that many.

Thanks for this video. I have got the exact same laptop. I see it only has 1 x RAM slot... I would like to upgrade mine to 16Gb but it seems like DDR3L 16Gb are not as common as the 8Gb.. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Hi, i just want to ask. Do u have an idea of what battery should i get? My laptop battery is dead and I dont know much about laptops nor computers, so i dont know what battery i should get for that exact same laptop. (The big boy battery and not the cmos one pls)

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5100 comes with a standard 128 MB 2133 266 MHz DDR SDRAM. The laptop has 2 RAM slots. Based on the original BIOS, the laptop can take a maximum of 1GB of memory. That is, 2 x 512MB SDRAM memory sticks on each drive. Do you have a recommendation of what brand to go with?

Thanks for watching! Keep in mind I am not a techy guy lol...That being said I tend to like Crucial. I built my video editing desktop with Crucial as well as our other desktop that I use for work. I am not saying they are better or worse than anybody else, they are just who I've typically used. Hope that helps in some way lol

I had this laptop for 5 years. It worked slower after 4 years and the battery lasted only 1hr. Time to buy a other one. Generally it was a good laptop for play old games. I think I’ll go with MacBook Air M1. What’s your spec? My had i3 4gb RAM, GeForce920m.

Thanks for watching! It will end up only fitting one way, the gap in the end is offset from the middle so it is hard to mess it up

Let me correct if Im wrong.. If the current ram is 2Gb then I add another ram of 4Gb... the total ram of 1 unit laptop is 6Gb.. is that okay?

@@momshierizza4620 I could be wrong but I don't think there is a spot for a 2nd stick. I think you can only replace the current stick. I am not a techy guy though lol

Wish I had a good answer for you. I've never switched one on a laptop before (I am not a techy guy by any means). I do know that you typically need a heatsink though.

@@AGuyandHisProjects yes I did use the heat sink and I also upgraded to 8gb of ram before I used to get like 30-40 second boot time now I get 9 second boot times and a tip for anyone looking to do this please don’t use cheap screw drivers as they will mess up your screws causing the screws to slip when you unscrew them.

Other Inspiron 15 3000series are having 2 slots for RAM but this one is just 1Slot. It pained me like hell cos I just found out. Very disappointed in my 💻 😞

@@Letruthh sadly, back in the day... Say late 2000 to 2005 8gb was HUGE. Case in point - got an Emachines E430. It runs on DDR2 ram... It has two slots, but everywhere I've looked states clearly that it has a MAX of 4 GB. Yes 4. Know some laptops COULD run more if they had a 64bit OS. But, DDR 2 is expensive. It works out the equivalent of 15 bucks a Gb in the UK Not willing to loose £100 on an 8gb upgrade that isn't going to work.

All of your storage should be on your hard drive. The Ram is just the memory used to go fetch your info from said hard drive. And I totally get your frustration haha!

Reasonably helpful tutorial, and it sounds like you secured yourself a decent level-headed wife, if she had the sense to order you a RAM card as a birthday gift. I must say though, annoying background music throughout the entire video. In fact, not very manly, classy or intelligent background music, but not as bad as rap music in the background. Those are the worst. Don't take my criticism too deeply to heart, I dislike most all modernistic pop-culture music. But nonetheless, helpful instructional guide, thank you for posting.
