About this video:
A circular saw was one of the first tools I began using as a woodworker. Every beginner should have one and it'll be useful for as long as you build and create!

The #1 rule I was taught: is never stand behind the saw. I was in the hospital next to a guy who’s saw kicked back and hit his inner thigh. He was lucky because it got within 1/2” of a major artery. A saw kicked back on me when I was trimming a door. The saw hit both sides of the double garage. There was a metal pin in the door.

Great information!! Thank you 😊. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to get the nut and washer off of my new circular saw. Finally figured out which way to hold it and which direction to turn it since you can be on either side of it. I love it so much. I got a cordless one and several other tools with it. I enjoy your channel. Very helpful 👌. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family.

I hear that a lot about getting the screw loose on a new circular saw. You have to strike the wrench almost at an upward angle and a little to the left to keep it from just spinning. Glad you're enjoying your woodworking!

I’ve had to move to a smaller unit & don’t have room for all my big tools. So good bye to my drill press, table saw & such. But I still have tools, clamps, files, hand saw, drill and a circular saw. The circular saw might be in my possession longer than my M&P S&W 40.

Nice video. I"m a beginner and i have a question: Is it useful or overkill to have 2 circular saws, one with a special blade for ripping and one with a special blade for crosscutting, because i don't like swapping blades, making the circular saw screw dull. I also have no table saw and i don't think i wil have one soon, because they are expensive. Hope to hear from you soon. Many thanks in advance

Great video. I’ve got the dewalt 60v blade right. I really want a worm drive saw but they’re pricier for sure. I use my circ saw a TON.

It's amazing how much you use it in a woodshop depending on what kind of projects you do. And then you need one for most carpentry projects around the house. Everyone should have one!

I am a carpenter and have the Flexvolt blade right ,that is all you'll ever need . Worm drives are heavy and awkward imo.

I have a "blade right" sidewinder. I'm left-handed, and I use my left hand on the saw. I don't do the "reach over" to the front grip with my right hand. Instead, I put my fingers on the side of the sled and use them as a guide. I'm sure a lot of people would freak out if they saw me do this, but I've done a hell of a lot of work this way, and I still have all my fingers.

Caution: The method shown in the video for cutting the 18 inch piece is wrong. If you use the method shown in the demo the piece will be short of 18 inch by the thickness of the circular saw blade. The correct method would be to place the track guide on the 18 inch piece to be cut and align with the mark so that the cutting blade will be outside the 18 inch mark.
