Need help with your Guitar Path?
gzoom.me/help-me-choose-ss
In this guitar lesson, Steve Stine discusses some simple yet effective ideas to slide from one pentatonic box/shape on the guitar to another one, and then back again. This gives your guitar solo a unique sound and new dynamic.
Remember, the goal has nothing to do with how fast you can do it, rather, what is most comfortable for your guitar practice, and what your goal is with the slide technique.

Great lesson, and a very important technique, which will become obvious when listening to the value that say Hendrix, Vai, Satriani, Moore and Johnson put on (it) in their melody and solo lines, often using extreme melodic jumps between positions and notes.

You're just a legend! I play over 15 years and have never understood the logic of guitar! I'd love to know what effect you're using?

I really learnt a lot here in your teaching programs in youtube. But I would like take a course to learn properly about arpeggios eventhough my main objective is a solo performer in acoustic guitar for Hotels and some high end parties.

Great video Steve! Can you do a lesson on harmonics? That is one tricky area that gives me a lot of trouble besides rhythm playing in a band.

I will put it on the list! Do you mean natural harmonics or artificial harmonics?

Hi Steve can you do a video connecting all the other positions using this approach? Just curious to see what you can come up with. Thanks and have a good day.

Hi Jeremi, There are so many ways to connect these ideas, but if you use this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ecmFnpyUmLPIo4U.html and combine it with the video you are now watching, I hope you can find a proper connection that helps you :-)

Thanks Steve. Question please: I know the five positions of the pentatonic, thanks to you, and I never tried this technique properly. Can I assume that the sliding is the same for all positions and that I can skip positions and slide from say A minor pentatonic miss the next position going up the fretboard and slide up into the third position? In other words, just slide "to" any position "from" any position, and do it in reverse also? Thank you.

Comfort and creativity is the key. You can do ANYTHING, but the goal is to imagine and envision it, then begin working on the execution\technique of it.
