I used to use a Silica product called Pro-TeKt on indoor plants a decade ago. Local soil here has a lot of clay and clay contains silica, but it requires thriving soil microbes to make it available to plant roots so I have been feeding the soil microbes the last 3yrs.

I’ve been working on my soil for a couple years now and it’s so much better. This year using some Humic and bio char products from Andersons. The silica is working well.

@@GirLzLawn I have not read anything on silica supplements in 10yrs, but do they warn of a ph raising effect? I know indoors I had to be careful as the Pro-TeKt would raise ph and potentially lockout other nutrients, but I never had any issues that I remember. That was the only product I used so others may be different. If I did not have so much clay here I would give it a try on the lawn.

Works great in doors just ordered some silica blast for my lawn. Seems people are using wayyyyyy to much on their lawns indoors at a rate of 5-10ML per gallon I’ve seen tomato plants that you can’t snap their branches after using a silica supplement in only 1 treatment. PH needs to be adjusted as well because silica raises PH dramatically at only 5-10 ml per gallon

Cool product. My questions would be would it affect the respiration of the grass and also the uptake of nutrients/weed control products that are use on the grass blades?

loving the way you are interpreting the info your local extension gave you. My first dedicated app of silica was a while back in full summer heat. I may look into the timing this year too to better hone in it's use. tks

Cumulative research shows that the max annual recommended rates are between 30-70 oz, so from a toxicity standpoint I’m safe. For my needs I shouldn’t get anywhere near 70 oz per year. Thx for watching Brian.
