Tools: Flat head screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, 7/16" socket with long extension and ratchet, hammer, spanner wrench (AP4503397), Pliers or channel locks, 1/4" socket or nut driver

Excellent video. BTW, for those about to embark on this journey, remove the tub before ordering this gasket, and inspect the mating surface on the vertical post of the support (part# 280184) - if that surface is corrosion pitted, a new gasket won't help - and as far as I can tell, your options are eBay (currently one used, listed with the drive tube for $199 + $50 shipping)... or some creative work with JB Weld and some sanding to fill the pits and give the gasket a smooth surface. Also around @9:44, go ahead and reconnect the water pressure air hose that was disconnected @4:57.

So basically you have to completely disassemble the washer to replace this part, got it. Thank you for correctly showing me how to do it though

Once the outer tub is off, there are two other seals visible (in addition to the seal featured in this video). One is at the very top of the transmission shaft; the other is about where the bottom of the drive block sits. In my experience the seal at the drive block is much more likely to be the culprit than the shaft seal at the bottom of the tub. Is there any chance of getting a video showing replacement of that seal?

My whirlpool top load washer is leaking badly during all cycles once the tub is at least half full with water. I replaced the centerpost gasket about 8 months ago when there was a leak only during the wash cycle, and it has been doing fine until 3 days ago. I have the machine opened up, even with the shaft removed. The gasket which I replaced months ago looks fine. Are there any other gaskets/seals which might need to be replaced?

+Seven Inajeep You will have to take the cabinet off and try to determine where the leak is coming from. Check the outer tub for cracks and holes. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/

At the 10:30 mark you install 2 small pieces on top of the shaft nut. What are these 2 pieces and what are their function? When I took out my agitator these 2 pieces were not present. Is there a model that does not use these? What would happen if these 2 pieces were not present? Thank You!

It is a spacer and a clamp to hold it. You would have to go to our site and enter your model number to see if they are used and which ones are supposed to be in there. We always recommend replacing everything the manufacturer put on the machine.

spanner nut is not that easy to remove......I have hit it for days,,,,sprayed it with wd 40 and still it wont come off.....>>>>

dablock2k3 If you can not get it to break free you may have to cut it off. But before you try that hit it with a heat gun to see if some heat will help it break free. Either way be careful you do not damage the inner tub! The most popular drive block comes with a new nut. You can enter your model number on our site to make sure you order the correct one.
