Hi! I'm 20 years old, I'm not new to roofing, my dad has owned a roofing company in metro Detroit for quite some time now and I just joined his team. I've watched quite a few of your videos and I'm learning SO much more than I initially thought I knew. My goal is to get my dad as many jobs as possible, and become a growing success in the field To make him proud. Thank you For posting these Awesome and informative videos, they really help! My question is, what kind of things can I do to better my education in this field, that isn't going to cost a fortune?

Accepting the water is definitely the way to go. It took me a long time to figure that out. I used to immediately say " No thank you but I really appreciate the offer" even though I was often thirsty. I guess I was always afraid of them offering tap water (poison) and then I'd have to pretend to drink it. LOL. But most people offer bottled water or filtered water.....or beer. :)
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 3 жыл бұрын
From one water snob to another, I hear ya 🤣🤣🤣 I had a customer who wouldn't do business with me unless I had a beer with him. Then he handed me a king can of Bud. It was a pretty funny experience walking around his multi-barn property having a beer (now I don't drink, so I'd have to get creative on my response!). At any rate - it also took me a while to figure out that I SHOULD be saying yes. I mean... that's what I want them to say too when I ask :)

Couple additional tips: My motto that I sell by is "People dont care how much you know. They want to know how much you care." In addition, I always treat people/customers like I am them or I am talking to myself. What do I want to hear? Is this salesman just blowing smoke up my butt? Finally, setting the agenda beforehand and checking for acceptance works wonders as it shows sincerity to the customer and that you are clear on their needs and wants.

I do commercial roof sales in west Texas ,the problem with this is most of the customers in small west Texas towns do not have Insurance. Plus a roof generally costs more than what they paid for their building. Another problem is that there are roofing contractors on every block in Lubbock, Abilene areas.

Happy to help! It all depends on what your responsibilities are. Are you just signing the deal and turning it in? Or are you in charge of collecting the build details and monitoring the build? Hi Adam we just had a huge hailstorm in calgary area. Im doing everything that you mention i educate my customer spend lots of time into it and they either they tried to use me to have more money or I just lost the job because others are paying their deductibles. I watch every single one of your videos I do tons of research but nothing good so far. the problem its the storm hit the northeast of the city and those neighborhoods are mostly phillipino communities and east indian and they think they win the loto. they all try to pocket as much money they can. We are not gonna pay for deductibles we are not that type of company we been in buisness for 15 years. any help would be great thanks
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Martin! Thanks for the comment man. Super sorry to hear you're having trouble competing with companies who are willing to eat deductibles. Without doing any role play or shadowing your sales, it'd be tough to give you EXACT feedback on what could be tweaked in your process. What I can say is this: I would do EVERYTHING you can to move the conversation away from PRICE. This video will help: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i5hpZM1jq5jaYXk.html It's important to focus on ASSESSMENT and not PRICE and explain that whether a claim is $2MM or $2,000, their "portion" is simply their deductible - the legal contracted amount between them and their insurance company. Negotiating prices on an insurance claim is actually doing yourself (the homeowner that is) a HUGE dis-service. That would be where I would start. Also, these 3 things: #1) Cultural expectations can be very, very challenging to overcome. #2) There will always be customers we don't win over (and I'm sure you know this from 15 years in business). #3) Not everyone is our customer. I've avoided areas or storms where it's just a race to the bottom on price. All that being said, I would re-watch the following videos to see if you find a new gem hiding in there: Top 4 videos here: kzfaq.infosearch?view_as=subscriber&query=contingency Hope this helps. Report back with any questions. I'm happy to help any way I can!

What do you say when someone says they just wanna let their insurance handle it
@TheRoofStrategist
@TheRoofStrategist 5 жыл бұрын
Educate educate educate. Ask them if they believe that the insurance company's interest (paying the least) is wholly aligned with their interest (getting the claim paid PROPERLY regardless of cost). The answer is clear. I also like to use the analogy of going to court. You wouldn't show up without an attorney to represent you. Also, I like to remind homeowners that they get 2 chances to getting their claim assess properly. After that, their options are limited. Do it right. Have someone there to help (even if it's not you)
@alfredo5282
@alfredo5282 4 жыл бұрын
You can always go to court by yourself, but it is recommended to have a lawyer at the time instead. Justice is equally for everyone but if the judge is having a bad day, you definitely want to have a knowledgeable person by your side fighting for your best interests. Put that into your own words.. I have used it for the past two years and it never fails.
