What's the 44 Club you may ask? the problem is that you wrapped the table always in the same direction. This made the entire wrap way weaker. you can see it very well when you did the 32 layer one, the ball didn´t really punch a hole, it rather pushed the layers aside. I bet if you would have wrapped it in criss cross, like always one from left to right and the next one from front to rear, it would have had a much higher punctuation resistance

@@nostrellor wow it's not that strong, you could punch through one layer of duct tape, plus the strips are so small in width it'd be even weaker the bigger the target, I agree flex tape would be better because the rolls come much bigger.

Why didn't you do half the layers in one direction and half the other way? No gaps between the runs or the edge for the bb to slip through (like it did on 30 layers) - rerun required for accurate results! :) #44club

Guanson wasn't far off with that physics analysis. The impact did generate heat which melted the layers together but it wasn't friction, it was compression. Compressing objects together generates a significant amount of heat.

I think some of the drops could have been good, but the problem is how you placed the wrap. Instead of wrapping three times in the same direction, you could have alternated between directions crossing above each other. (I mean, wrapping a few layers, and then wrap another few but sideways)

Luke Cameron Funnel! A giant cardboard or clear plastic funnel cone (8m diameter) down to the small mouth of a giant container of Coca Cola Zero. You'll need someone from the industry to help you get the right mixture in the container because just pouring the stuff will loose some fizz. Goal is the bottled mix, not the Macca serving mix.

The knuckleball effect is interesting. You should do a video with the finger holes at the top, side, and bottom when the ball is dropped. Or drop 3 or 5 balls at the same time, finger holes in different positions.

If they'd wrapped the table criscross instead of entirely parallel, it would have been stronger. The ball wouldn't have been able to slip between the seams as easily.

If you alternate the diractions of the layers between horizontal and vertical you can reduce the amount significantly

Also goes as to how they were counting the number of layers, if they wrap say 30 layers as the wrap width was not wide enough to cover the tabletop, there was either some over-lap at the edges of plastic wrap or it was just touching which, as pointed out, is a significantly "weaker" area.

Hi guys I have a challenge for you and that table, get a bowling ball and cover it with sand paper, tape matches around the edge of the table, and see with your drop skills if you can light them up, would be cool if you could do it at night I guess, sorry just a silly thought I had lol

Sand paper doesn't light matches unless you have strike anywhere matches.

@Crazy yeah I know the ones you mean, here in England we call them safety matches, but I was thinking the strike anywhere ones, also a bowling ball might damage the table more so maybe a cricket ball might be better, and a lot lighter to carry up that tower lol

Eastern US and we call it basically everything. Cling wrap, shrink wrap, plastic wrap, Saran wrap, we pretty much mix it up

It was almost looking like it was making it through the gaps in the fewer layers. I'd bet if you did layer left to right and the next top to bottom like a hashtag you may find that less layers would give a bounce that way there are no weak seams. I'd be keen to see if tried out :D

Dudes, I have a buddy in Nevada who built a bowling ball cannon. They launch a ball friggen miles over hilltops and the holes in the ball whistle like a car alarm. Dude proofed the cannon with 6 lbs of FFF powder!

Hi engineering student here. Kinetic energy and heat are both the two variables in the system. When the ball hit the wrap all the kinetic energy left in the system changed into heat energy, that’s what melted the wrap, if it’s really melted. I don’t think it melted though I think it was just stretched out

Would crossing both ways (not just across 2 sides) improve the strength of the wrap? Alternate between each side every 1-2 layers.

Just a side note. A few years ago I helped a friend wire up a breaker setup for the pro bowlers tour. One of them asked me if I wanted any bowling balls, and I said yeah. He gave me 16.....yeah.....I was talking to my Uncle, and he had pigs, and he said any I didn't want, he'd take. He told me he put them in the hog pen, and the pigs would play with them and not get out of the pen. So, somewhere in central Illinois USA there were a bunch of pigs having fun with expensive professional bowling balls. Might be a source for you, if there are any near you. They get them for free, to try them out.

Corrugated polycarbonate panels are remarkably strong. I used only 2"x 2" joists to integrate and support several panels for a pavilion roof.
