@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
We are happy to hear that everything worked out. Just a note that the red wire may be a switch wire. We would suggest just capping the red wire from the house and just connecting the black from the fan to the black from the house.

I have the Fawndale 46 in. Indoor Integrated LED Bronze Ceiling Fan with Light Kit, 5 Reversible Blades and Remote Control. My wife loves this for the bedroom but was wondering if I could wire it so the remote still controls the fan and light but I can also turn the light on with the switch when i walk in (but the fan stays on when we aren't in the room) I know somehow I would have to wire 2 separate switches which is fine but not sure if it is possible with the fans logic. Not even sure if a smart switch could solve the problem
@ceilingfans1017 ай бұрын
The short answer is that the receiver can only be wired to one standard on/off toggle switch. In general, remote control fans can not also be connected to 2 separate switch for fan speed and light control. Technically, the fan could be wired to separate switches instead of being installed with the remote. To do that, you would need to cut the wire harness from the fan wires to separate the wires to be able to connect them to the switch wires. Once the wire harness is cut off, you will have 3 separate wires - Black (fan speed), white (neutral), and blue (light power).

Thanks for the video! My outlet box has black, red, white and ground wires and the outlet box is controlled by a dimmer switch. I connected the wires the way you explained (black-black) (white-white) (green-ground) and left the red wire alone. The light and fan both work however it’s a little finicky, it flickers at times and some fan settings cause the light to turn on and off. The light also takes a second to turn on after I flip the switch on the wall. How can I resolve this issue?
@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
The issue may be with the switch limiting power to the fan. You can troubleshoot this by wiring the receiver to the house supply line (no switch) and see if the fan function improves. If not, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone.

Thank you for providing this video. I have one question however. I did exactly how you described to mount this very same fan. However the fan does not work nor does the light. I am suspecting that it may have something to do with the power source which currently is a dimmable knob. Should I switch that out to an actual light switch single gang? Or do I have a different type of problem. Oh one other issue. This is a very old house and there is no ground wire from the source.
@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. No ground wire, no problem. The issue is with the dimming knob. We would suggest either connecting the fan directly to the house supply line and capping off the switch wire, or changing the switch to a standard on/off switch.
@sjcafiero2 жыл бұрын
@@ceilingfans101 Ah-Ha! That dimmer switch is most likely the culprit. I'm gonna to take your suggestion to simply connect the wire leads from the fan directly to the house supply and install a cover plate. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks so much for your quick response.

What if you have red wire from the ceiling? What wire do I connect this with?
@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
We have to say that we are not licensed electricians and if you have questions about wiring, you should always contact a licensed electrician to make sure wires are connected correctly. That being said, we would suggest just capping off the red wire using an electrical nut and electrical tape. Typically, a red wire is a switch wire. If you want to use the switch, connect the receiver power wire to the red wire instead of the house black wire and cap off the house black wire. This would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch.

What if my outlet box does not have a copper wire? Only 1 white and 1 black wire.

The copper wire is for the ground connection. The Ground is not required, but helpful to protect the fan in case of power surges.

Why does it shake and makes noise
@ceilingfans1013 жыл бұрын
Most shaking and noise issues can be atributed to loose or incorrectly installed parts. Please make sure everything is installed correctly and completely tightened. If that does not resolve the issue, call the customer service number listed on the manual cover. The HDC team is good at troubleshooting over the phone.

Nice video, but good freaking luck getting the decorative cover on (10:17), as when the HH screws are tightened they become recessed so the cover can’t easily attach. This bloke makes it look simple. I can assure you it is not. I ended up breaking my cover off. The installer in the video makes a point to “firmly tighten the HH screws”, but doesn’t explain this is counter-productive to adhering the decorative plate.
@bundoastonvilla7572 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t about to compromise the fan by loosening the HH screws under the canopy, so the decorative cover could adhere. Other than that, was still a tricky install but glad with the end-result. If you run into this, I defo recommend snapping off the cover, as you really don’t notice it. Don’t sacrifice the stability of the unit for a cover plate!
@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
@@bundoastonvilla757 Sometimes, you may have to loosen the screws at the base of the canopy to allow them to stick through the keyhole slots when attaching the canopy. This will not compromise the stability of the fan. Once the screws stick through the bottom of the canopy, the canopy is twisted to engage the keyhole slots. Once the keyhole slots are engaged, the screws should be tightened just enough to secure the canopy. If the screws are overtightened, they may bend the canopy and become recessed, but if done properly, the base of the screw head will tighten against the canopy and the the decorative ring will be able to twist onto the screw heads.
@bundoastonvilla7572 жыл бұрын
@@ceilingfans101 Not in my experience. I didn’t over-tighten. The canopy was firm, not overly compressed to the ceiling. I am doing another one this weekend. Will let you know. Also your angling in with a Philips to tighten HH was curious. Good way to strip the screw heads. Folks, get yourself a 3” Phillips screwdriver so you ensure you don’t strip the screws.
