This week I got really sick but I knew I didn't want to miss a week of uploading content. Fortunately, last semester I got the opportunity to cut together a mini documentary about music producer, Huey Meaux. I never got around to uploading it but it is actually something that I am very proud of and am happy to include as a part of this project. If you scroll back on my channel, you might see that I am actually somewhat familiar with documentary making. This one, however was incredibly different for me because I wasn't familiar with the subject and the footage was not originally mine. This footage was shot by my Professor and was never used for its original intention so he let us edit it into our own mini documentaries. There were several different interviews to choose from but Huey's was definitely the most intriguing to me. I had to take on a video making challenge I hadn't before with this one, creating subtitles. As you can tell from this video, Huey has a very thick Louisianan accent. Because of that, I chose to subtitle his dialogue as well as I could to allow the viewer to best appreciate his hilarious story. It took me A LONG TIME so I really hope you enjoy it!
I DO NOT own any of the footage or music used in this video. All interviews were conducted by Keith Houk and Paul Schneider and the footage was provided to me for the purpose of this project.
Over the next several weeks I am going to take on several new/different projects for myself, shooting and editing videos. Although I edit videos and shoot studio segments almost every day, I hardly ever get the chance to go out into the world and shoot things creatively. I’m hoping that over the next few weeks I’ll be able to tap into a more creative side of myself while also learning new things about camera work and editing.
