Jug fishing for catfish on a small river in during heat of Summer. We catch lots of keeper sized catfish and hook the biggest thing we've ever hooked.

There are two things I greatly appreciate about this video. The first is that you are with your son and you two are fishing. There is a high likelihood he will always remember the day that big one go away. He may just share that story with his son. And his grandson. At 66 years old, I can tell you for a fact that getting older happens in a blur. Take advantage of every moment, like this river adventure. The second thing is the lesson you are teaching about giving away fish and making others happy. You son is extremely fortunate to have a dad who took him to the river who and is instilling an extremely important value. Keep doing what you are doing, my friend. And don't blink. He will be graduating from HS before you know it.

Fishing with my stepson in 2003 when I catch about a four pound rainbow in Montana. Young fell asked if he could fight the trout , held on to the fly rod for a bit then the leader parted . Many years later I asked if he remembered that big fish . Nope 😢😢

@@learning_the_outdoors I recently had the opportunity to land a couple king salmon in Ketchikan, Alaska with my buddy Matt. We were on a cruise, stopping in town for just the day. Recording it for us to see? Epic. Sharing the experience with your son? Legendary!

I don't believe there is a creel limit for catfish here. Some lakes may have regulations specific to that lake, but nothing from the state level. We catch and release 90% of the time, but nothing wrong with keeping some for table fare from time to time. 😉

I enjoyed your video watching your relationship with your son. I have fished that way without the pipe in the noodle. I can see how you could see when the fish got on the line better the way you had it rigged.

That is the way I was shown when I was growing up so its the only way I knew to rig them. I've seen videos of them rigged without the pipe but I don't understand how the line doesn't eventually rip through the noodle.

I love seeing a kids reaction to "Stuff".....lol, fishing stuff is about as good as it gets! We used, "Limb Lines"..... of course you can tie off on stumps but I'm talking about a lake w/ trees lining the shores that had limbs hanging all along the banks. Seeing the limbs crashing down really gets the heart pumping & we never had to catch a runaway jug - which is good since we were in a canoe. That gar sure startled the young one...lol, great video peace

Well, they're more of a geographical item in my experience.... certain lakes have the right tree lined shores that makes it worthwhile but catching fish is worthwhile, no matter what method you use. Get after it now b/c he'll be grown/gone before ya know it. GB ALL

You need a boat landing hook, we use them when we get to the loading ramp, it has a plastic hook on the end so we can pull the boat to the ramp. It makes life so much easier when coming into the dock, better then reaching over the side of the boat. Or you can take a long solid pole and hammer a nail onto it and bend the nail over into a J. Glad to see your little fishing buddy wearing a lifejacket.👍 👍 🇨🇦
