That’s definitely using it as a utility machine. I’ve pulled logs like that on a Suzuki kingquad 300. I’d put it in super low with diff lock and it could pull almost anything. Stuck twice as often with only 19hp but it amazed me with what it could do.

Just a suggestion... Please throw something over the middle of your winch cable (a coat or warn winch line dampner) when winching out. I've seen a number of winch lines snap, and when you are in a 4x4 vehicle, it's dangerous enough. On a 4wheeler, you have no protection from the cable when it snaps and recoils at you. Cool vid. Please be safe.

You're right. I have seen it happen. All you have to do is throw a branch over it, and that's enough to absorb the energy. Carhart jackets are perfect for that.

Just a kind bit of advise when tugging an Atv and it in your case an Atv and a loaded trailer. The front bike should only be used as a static anchor. With the winch cable secured to the anchor, pulling can start with the stuck bike turning its tires slightly using engine power while activating the winch. As the bike and trailer start to move the static bike can then begin to keep the cable tight and slowly bring power on to assist the stuck unit The anchor bike must keep the line taught between the two so that when it comes under power he is not jerking at the winch is this is the primary cause of winch failure on the stuck bike. This jerking motion is much greater than what the planetary and sun gear can handle casing them to fail completely. This is completely avoidable if handled correctly. Your winch will last for years with adequate service.
@pamtnman15156 жыл бұрын
Interesting video, thanks. Very challenging topography there. Looks like ADKs or Canada. Neat log carrier. Very useful and creative. Great solution for low impact, low volume logging. One less 1,000-pound log on that trailer would probably make the going much easier. But it's enjoyable seeing you guys use all available tools to succeed.

Thanks it’s from Sweden and normally I don’t take 3 logs so big. It was a bet and I lost :)

When you couldnt pull that trailer though the ditch.... why didn't you use low range and lock the front diff??? That stuff is there for a reason. Also, if you used low range the bike would run at higher RPMS and make the whole thing a lot smoother of a ride. It wouldn't be so jerky all the time.
@Projectoftheday7 жыл бұрын
Hello. I had low gear and diff when I tried to get over the ditch. Then a little further I have not the diff. I sat and waited a bit and played with the button, without thinking me for..... :( Then trailer probably weighed 2500-3000lbs I think. But now I have solved it :D have drive on the trailer wheels now so I get 8 wheel drive.... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bt16a5uA3sXScZc.html

I use a 700 for some pretty extreame hunting. Impressed with what are doing and your setup. I recently fitted 28" tyres. Cant think of the name of them but big fuck off mud lugs. Any way by far the best thing I ever did the quad is more stable and where I got stuck with the tyres you have I can now get through in 2wd. I'd highly recommend 28" heavy side wall tyres. The down side is you do notice the change in gearing and given your are towing heavy loads it may work your clutch pretty hard.

He is 100% the reason i'd never buy a Can-Am. From here on out, it is Honda, Yamaha, and Polaris for me.
@xmonster7417 жыл бұрын
THE PICKLETON17 "independent rear suspension doesn't allow to get traction to all tires"... lol Even though a straight axel is better for hauling wood because of its strength. It will not have the traction like a independent would. Independent will always have the tires on the ground. Where as a straight solid axel wont when its tipped just a little on its side. One tire will be in the air.

The CVT system on the Yamaha Grizzly is literally LIGHT YEARS ahead of everyone else. It's a shame that none of the other companies have reverse engineered it and used a similar system. I had an 04 Grizzly 660 that I pounded the piss out of. I bought it new, and sold it 10 years later. I only changed the belt on it because i was curious how bad it was worn, and the guys at the shop showed it to me, and it wasn't that bad. Yamaha's CVT is IMPRESSIVE. It is so durable it seems more like something you would find on a honda. ...
