It wouldn't surprise me tbh. Remember, he is the son of one of the top 5 Nen User of the world. And the shounen rules says, that some day the new generation surpasses the old generation.

@@faristont4561 Exactly the form is what if gon trained non stop with perfect progression every day. He would eventually end up like that. in reality he would probably never work that consistently in training because life gets in the way and he has no long term motivation to be the 'very best' or something like that. So a more realistic peak is probably a tier or two below his monster point but with potentially new hatsu and experience that could make him just as competitive.

To add more details, he made a contract to grow to such an age where he is at his peak, thats why his hair is so long, because he grew to that state so quickly without cutting his hair :)

Something to also note, he literally says "I don't care if this is the end... I'll use everything." Now it's kind of up in the air if he didn't know what he was doing or not with making the nen contract. I partially believe he did know but didn't fully understand the implications to a certain extent because of the sheer amount of grief and anger. He quite frankly did not care if he died, he just wanted to kill Pitou.

because this is a tragedy first and badass second. Gon is willingly throwing away his body and potential, and the entire moment you can feel that he's sad, not feeling victorious at all.

Yeah, like @Andrew Camenzind said, Gon didn't just sacrifice his current Nen capabilities. He sacrificed his entire potential. Everything he has now AND everything he would have had in the future, all condensed into this singular moment.

Literally. The kid who lost his humanity for revenge and turned into a monster. The monster who turned into a human because of a blind girl. The character development in this arc is a piece of art. How can you make an arc where the protagonist and the antagonist never meet each other. The narrator has added more depth and details (I love him so much and without him I don’t think this arc would be as great as it is). The animation and score were absolutely beautiful. How they wrapped the arc with one of the saddest scenes, Meruem and Komugi’s death. My favorite arc of all time and I don’t think that I will ever see something as good as this masterpiece. Thank you.

The things about the "luls in the narrative and plot" are that they are necessary to bring the peak so high. Imagine if there was no welfin scenes(parts people think are boring)... no gungi scenes...etc etc, the boring parts make it all make sense and make you care more. More often than not, most shonen will jump right into it and not explain anything. I remember watching Demon Slayer after HxH. All of a sudden he was training and then bam he could control water powers with no explanation and no depth behind it. I turned it off after that episode(haven't went back) and realized HxH ruined all shonen story telling for me. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But I'm not gonna sit through the garbage anymore just cause of nice animation.

@@db212006 Exactly. Without those “boring episodes” we wouldn’t have cared for the characters as much as we did and the later on episodes (116, 126, 131, 135) wouldn’t hit the same without the slow build up and the Narrator. Togashi is a genius.

@@DarkVortexx_ Absolutely agree with both of you, without the set-up of those episodes we wouldn't get the harder hitting episodes, not to mention it gives a lot the side-characters a chances to shine. (looking at you Welfin in 134, one of the best moments of the series)

And when a show gets my number one spot after pretty much everything else in the last 20 years was just solid or ok to me, that says even more.

@@malyrbt7093 Gon is "pure" and full of potential. They say several times that he has a selfish kindness to him. He doesn't care much about good or bad, but he likes people he finds interesting. He also believes in himself completely, and nothing has really gone wrong for him. That's why he was so confident that Kite was alive. Essentially, the foreshadowing was that all the good sweet parts of Gon were actually just a careful balance. If something broke and he realized that his pure and innocent view of the world wasn't real, then all his potential and strength would become dangerous.

It's reversed parallel emotional character development. Picture two graphs, one from light to dark and one from dark to light. That's what he did with Gon and Killua. It's just so well written

Spoiler!!!!! Imagine his revenge was fruitless, because Kite... To be specific, his soul is still alive and healthy. And Pitou would live, because Komugi is still captured by Killua. Pouf is the real antagonist of this arc.

After that though Pitou's definately sharing the same fate as other guards. either by coming in contact with king and getting poisoned or killing themselves after the king's death! so you're right it cud be way less dark outcome.

Actually he could have beaten Gon even at his full strength… the anime translation was wrong.. in the manga pitou said that his fangs can even reach the king.. pitou didn’t say he’s equal to the king… I still believe he was a bit stronger than Netero to say the least.. not sure about about prime Netero though cuz he did say he’s become weaker

Pitou didn't know about Post-Rose Meruem's upgraded power.

@@henriklarssen1331 Hell even Netero could potentially beat Gon in this form, it took Meruem's superhuman body and intellect to find a hole in Netero's defense. Sure Gon in this state is probably the strongest enhancer in the world but he's still a kid with a rock paper scissors hatsu who's going through a mental breakdown.

he might have a raw power above the king or maybe not, maybe he could have outpower Netero hatsu while Meruem had to outsmart it, after all, Gon is an enhencer, while Meruem is a specialist, but i have no doubt, than in a fight against the king he would lose, but with enaugh support, i think his jajaken could be strong enaugh to take the king, of course, post-rose Meruem is another story...
