Thank you for making this video. I have hypothyroidism with high male hormone and high prolactin and this helps me understand what my body has been doing what it is doing. I think the most shocking thing about my issue was even though my levels of prolactin were so high, my body did not produce breast milk, there for in me only a blood test was able to diagnose it. Tonight I just started treatment for the high prolactin with medication. I am currently 31 and been having hormone issues for most of my life.

Im 27 and had 48 level for prolactin. Wanted to concieve and went for other tests for hormones as well and all came out normal. My only concern was prolactin and watching videos and searching on google made me so scared. Today i went to the doc and she only gave me a medicine to bring back these levels. Hope this helps. :) dont worry guys it is easily curable.

Thank you for this! I am 36 and had incredibly normal periods. I had an ectopic pregnancy ending in left tube removal late 2020. I then was on birth control and went off birth control October of 2021, had one period, and then the second never came! 6 months later I go to the dr and start the progesterone challenge… took the birth control and tried to force a period. That didn’t work, so then they added another 3 weeks with 2 hormones in the birth control and it luckily started a period. In all the bloodwork they’ve done, everything looks normal except that prolactin was slightly elevated. A couple months later we are now testing it again to see if it has changed… I am anxiously awaiting results. The dr said it looks like my reproductive system is functioning properly, so the problem might be in the brain… the brain is not telling my ovary to release an egg. I have gained 50 lbs in the last year… it just keeps going up. I have never been over 150, usually am 130-135. And I’m hitting 183 now… I gained 40 lbs within 3 months! I’m just now realizing my boobs feel swollen… I feel pretty exhausted a lot of the time. I think there must be a tumor on the pituitary gland… I hope treatment won’t be too terrible… I’ve been doing all these tests since march, I’m ready for an answer! This really helped explain what might be going on for me, and helped to prepare me for what might lie ahead. Appreciate all you put into this video!

Omg this is almost identical to what I've been going through! My husband and I have been trying go get pregnant and I was diagnosed with hashimotos and endometriosis. Seeing an OBGYN who took blood work recently to better understand my fertility. My prolactin came back a little high but everything else is normal. However, even tho I've been on synthroid for almost a year, I am still experiencing irregular periods, over 50lb weight gain in one year, extreme fatigue etc. It's so exhausting trying to get through life and feeling sluggish all the time. Did you ever get yours resolved?

I got no follow up from dr, had to call and they are now not concerned. 🤯 something is causing it to be like this… I’m being told cancer one minute and the next it’s nothing… I just kinda gave up on pursuing things further… other medical issues are taking up my energy at this point in time. Hello from England . My prolactin is off the charts which is worrying, I am taking 480mg of verapamil for cluster headaches . I’m currently tapering off & then will get a blood test. I have no libido , Ed and fatigue ( joy). I’ve also just started trt. Any insights very welcome. This video is best in class 100#

Even tho I am female, my prolactinoma wasn't diagnosed until I had lost 90% of my vision. If you are at menopausal age, doctors may blame your problems on that instead of hyperprolactinomia. An opthomologist found mine by doing a fields test. It was pressing on my optic nerve. Cabergoline treatment was successful. Best wishes to all who suffer from this.

I'm 34yrs old and was diagnosed with the results showing ACTH, Cortisol, Prolactin which he told me is very odd because it shouldn't work that way. I've had an adrenal adenoma which grew to 3cms which from .3mml and benign yet it grows and now it's most likely a tumor in the Pituitary gland.

2021: itchy, sore, swollen breasts. Persistant neck and shoulder pains. Premenstrual spotting, post menstrual spotting, longer periods, shorter cycles, heavy periods. A persistant pain in my left side/back flank for YEARS (15) for which NOT ONE single Dr has ever found the cause of. I am anemic and once or twice a year my B12 drops. I had blood in my urine as well a few months ago. I am 31 and not sexually active and take no medications and or anticonception. My prolactin is 23 which my laboratory considers "high". Can't wait for my MD to tell me everything is "fine" and "normal".

And I lactate even when I never conceived .I tried Dopamine to inhabit lactation so that I conceive but the lactation doesn't seem to stop for a year now . Untreated high prolactin can lead to exacerbations in any of the potential symptoms of the imbalance and lead to infertility.

yup everytime i take my opiate dose i get puffy nipples . it goes away once those dose wears off. but the initial effects i can feel my chest and nipples get soft

I had high prolactin levels for the past 7 years. I developed anxiety gained a lot of weight and became extremely fatigue. My levels went up every year this year it’s 110. My previous Dr. Didn’t think I needed to be treated because my pituitary gland and thyroid are normal as well as other test results but my new Dr placed me on bromocriptine. Not the best experience because of the side effects but I pray it works. Any advice for bromocriptine side effects?

You could ask for cabergoline. The side effects is not as bad for some people. Some have no symptoms at all from taking cabergoline

Thanks for this. About a year ago I experienced very intense and painful headaches on the left side of my head. After trying so many medications I went to a neurosurgeon and after MRI it came out that I have an adenoma and prolactin level about 450. I got a surgery and was on medication. Around 8 months after the surgery my prolactin level increased even more about 1600. Now after about one month I lost a bit weight with exercise but it's really very hard to lose weight. Earlier I suffered from irregular periods and still the situation is same. My hairfall situation has been worse. I still don't know about my fertility. Currently I am on medication. Hoping for positive results 🤞

Did you go back and double check prolactin levels to see if they rose? I tested at the beginning of the month and was at 17.4ng/dl then at the end of the month I’m 27ng/dl. I’m active duty military and medical is so bad. Hoping I get my mri in a month.

What if all of your hormones including total testosterone, free testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, dhea, thyroid panel, igf-1 and ACTH are all within normal levels but your prolactin is always within 10 points above what is the high normal? For example, in men, if it's supposed to be between 3 and 18, mine would be 25 or 28...always, for over 20 years. Any thoughts?

Do you believe, after a confirmed prolactinoma has been verified by MRI, for a woman to have PCOS and that PCOS was proximately due to the prolactinoma? Also, what can a patient do if an Endocrinologist refuses to prescribe the medications you mentioned (or ANY for that matter) and tells the patient “just watch you diet and try to lose weight”? How can that patient receive the proper medication on the market after having a proper diagnosis and MRI scan?

Good question, I'd love to know the answer as well. This happened to me with several doctors. Same PCOS story, and an absolute refusal for an MRI from many many doctors. This year I got really lucky with an MRI. It was positive for a prolactinoma. I knew it in my gut! I hope you're able to advocate for you-self.

I'm a 27 y/o male with high prolactin due to pituitary tumour and I've noticed hair loss/thinning in the last several months. My endo says this is not caused by the tumour as my testosterone is within range. I've researched and high prolactin does indeed cause hairloss but I don't believe it's confirmed what exactly causes it. Could my endo be wrong and my hairloss infact be from the high prolactin?

I think it’s because it effects your follicle stimulating hormone so you experience the hair loss. Mines 27ng/dl now and it was 17 at the beginning of the month. Really don’t wanna lose my hair man. Sorry you’re going through this crap man it sucks. You have any other symptoms cause I feel like I can’t breathe and I’m exhausted majority of the time plus headaches here and there and I pee way too much.

I had erectile dysfunction for the last 13 years... At the time of marriage I took some performance enhancing drugs to increase my testesterone and sperm count and erection and I have 2 kids all these times doctors were not able to diagnose my case 2 weeks back I saw an andrologists and he ask for my blood test and he told my prolactin level 25 ngl is too much and gave some medication. Could I recover and go back to normal erection and sex life after taking this medication as I had been suffering from this condition for the last 13 years from the age of 24 to current age 37.

I tested 58 in prolactin level and normal leve is 25. My MRI result indicated everything is normal. Not sure what caused the high level. I have anxiety and often feel overwhelming and nervous. So does the high prolactin level causes the nervenous. I am not pregnant. I don’t have sexual activity abb no physical stress.

Hair loss is distressing but I’d be more concerned with bone loss. HYPERPROLACTINEMIA is a known cause of osteoporosis. Don’t let it go.

what happens when your prolactin levels have been raised by an antipsychotic . im going through hell from paliperdrone aka invega sustenna its hell i had 4 injections of the poison, i have lost everything. ive lost my concentration, i cant think, or feel. i have no emotions. i cant concentrate on anything eg read,write,watch tv/youtube paint or listen to music. i have lost all my motivation, i cant do anything i cant even self care eg shower/brush my teeth, change my clothes. i just dont care about anything or anyone anymore, just no feelings. i havent had my menstrual cycle. i have no hunger or thirst. everything is dead, my body if not functioning anymore. my personality has gone, im dead inside. on top of it all i cant sleep, i havent slept since november 2022 that was before i had the first injection. i had two in december first one was 100mg second 50mg 2022, one in january was 50mg and one in february was 50mg . my life has been hell. its been 9 months since my last injection and no improvement. i wish i had hope i dont think i will recover from this its a nightmare, i just want to die

MRI resulted that i have 3-6 mm of tumor and I'm taking medicine as prescribed by the doctor . You better take blood test first , doctor can verify what the problem is. To check the level of blood . I'm suggesting you because the situation of mine need not to come for others .

Very interesting video!! Q? What causes prolactinomas? In nearly 40 years since my diagnosis, cause is still elusive? Is it really benign? Bromocriptine is a horrible treatment due to the side effects. Dostinex or cabergoline now that patent has long run out works!! Shrinks the tumor to where it’s no longer visible on MRI and does not return after discontinuing treatment! What’s the connection with non Hashimotos hypothyroidism after giving birth? Ah the body!! When it decides to screw up, it goes all out!!

@@mamashiraz yes. She did twice. I was anemic and she had me one iron pill. Now i am back to normal in terms of iron deficiency. She prescribed hormone treatment for 10 days and my period seems like to be back to normal. I am going to find out the MRI result tomorrow. I hope I don’t have to go through surgery. 2 months ago I got diagnosed with a prolactinoma 2cm in size. My prolactin levels were at 38000 (normal should be 400) After taking cabergoline for one month my prolactin has dropped to 8000. I'm a 27yo male. Anyone's guess how long this has been affecting my weight, mood, sex drive. There dosnt seem to be many others around with similar cases as mine :(

Mine was detected just 15 days ago. Started with Cabergoline 0.5mg twice a week. Prolactin is 376 ng/ml (normal value up to 20ng/ml). Suffering from low libido intensively. Don't know whether it will ever be solved or not. Do any of you vision problem or headache?

It increases prolactin, but if you're healthy you should be back to normal fast, make sure to eat foods high in zinc to lower tbe refractory period
