Tristan Tate is better than I thought lol

Before the MMA match you reviewed previously, Tristan Tate had his kickboxing career prematurely end due to a car accident that messed up his shoulder. Tristan got a job as a commentator, and when someone pulled out of a fight, he took the fight on short notice to save the card while he was still suffering from shoulder problems. During the MMA fight, his bad shoulder dislocated while he was defending a takedown. That's why Tristan tapped early. Since then, he has had shoulder surgery by the same doctor who did surgery on Conor McGregor's leg and has rehabilitated his shoulder.

Tristan explained his style perfectly “I am a tank I get hit but hit hard”

The Tate brothers should only accept a fight if it's Kickboxing. Like you said DJ, they're older so the advantage shouldn't go to the younger men. That should level the playing field imo

I've said this once but I'll say it again: We gotta see a training collab with DJ and The Tates!

Andrew is much more calculated striker who stays in range and picks you a part but does have a tendency to leave his head exposed and chin up high, where as Tristan is much more aggressive , mixes his combinations up better then his brother and does a good job keeping his head covered and chin tucked , however when he pushes forward he has a tendency to lunge in with a sloppy kick or a wide hooks and is very susceptible for a clean counter down the pipe. Tristan is aggressive and throws everything with power and does mix his combos up well but like MM said he’s very “ clunky “ and doesn’t throw them with proper or crisp technique and leaves himself open when he lunges forward.

The point with Tristan is, he is huge now, so his punches are a lot harder now than before. Andrew`s got more stamina and is a more calculated and patient. I honestly dont know how anyone could call Tristan the weakest link, when Logan exists, Jake can at least box, but Logan literally cant do sh*t.......

It’s interesting to see this critique of his speed because there’s a well known video of Tristan criticizing his friend on the bag in the last few years for being too slow. Seems like he realised this aswell

In that long fight that you showed I think Tates opponent was really struggling with the reach of Tate. People who haven’t been in many fights truly don’t know how hard it is standing up and striking with somebody who has a pretty significant reach advantage. I’m around 6 foot tall and when I was around 18 I got into a fist fight with a guy who was probably 6’5. It was a planned fight and everybody from the area showed up to watch it. I remember the first minute or so of the fight how much I was struggling to even land anything, it felt like he was so far away while he was just standing back and popping me with jabs and straights. “The guy was into boxing and trained a lot so he had a skill advantage too, but it was the reach that I really struggled with”. When I came to the realization that I wasn’t going to beat him on the feet I ended up taking him down and unloaded punches on him “I wrestled through out highschool and was very good at it” But I’ll never forget the first minute of that fight and how hard it was dealing with his stupid reach. So I feel like in a striking only fight the guy with the longer reach will have an advantage usually but in an mma fight “real fight” grappling/wrestling is the great equalizer for the shorter guy, plus for some reason it feels like tall guys are easier to scoop and slam, for me anyways. That’s why I think Mike Tyson is the greatest boxer ever, he had the reach and size of somebody who could fight at welterweight but he was fighting at heavyweight vs guys 6 inches taller than him. I bet you every fight of his entire career he faced a significant reach disadvantage and despite that he still won the title and knocked out most of the guys he faught.

I'd say that I have a similar style to Tristan since I'm a pretty big guy and generally not very explosive, but good at endurance (Tristan doesn't seem to be tbh). I also rely a lot on kicks and am aggressive most of the time. Although I feel like my kicks are better, but head movement is worse than Tristan's. A lot of the times when I spar quicker guys whenever I kick to cross the distance like Tristan, they counter with a check, 1-2 or just a straight cross, and it works a lot of the time. If I try to jab haphazardly to cross distance like Tristan, they'd usually pivot and hook. Which in my case is even more effective cause I'm southpaw.

I like watching Tristan's fighting style more. It's more willing to risk some damage in return as opposed to Andrew's more calculated/reserved approach. The MT is more visible in Tristan that way.

tldr basically everyone who gets in a ring is legit. Fighting is one of the weirdest sports in terms of levels - they're all very close to each other. That said it takes way more work and talent to progress those levels
