I Bought a $1,800 VW TOUAREG V8. BIG MISTAKE.

With the cash from selling the $900 GTI burning a whole in my pocket, I found a fully loaded 2005 Volkswagen Touareg V8 for $1,800 and quickly scoped it up.
Sight problem, the Touareg was 1,000 miles from my home. The easy solution was to buy a $200 plane ticket to Seattle and drive the car home.
How bad could the Touareg be? (Spoiler) Really bad.

Hey, thanks! We made it and we made it early. It's weird that now the page will only go up by hundreds. Right now it is showing 1k and it won't change until we get to 1.1K.

Man, as soon as you said that you spotted something pretty special with this Touareg while holding the door open, I immediately said "AIR SUSPENSION!!!!!". This is a great looking Touareg, probably with every option you could get on it. I'm so jealous ;-)

Regarding the trailer hitch, you'll need the factory module and harness if you want a brake controller to work

Easy to wire up? There's one with the towing package at a junk yard, but didn't know if it's difficult to do the work.

Tow package also include a different cooling fan. And pre wire for trailer brake.

i have been looking for a low mileage facelift v8 from USA, Canada or Europe. only saw mint low mileage v8 with AIR SUSPENSION!!! in brazil. a lot of tempting r50s in europe too

I loved mine,but was really disappointed with the materials used for the interior ( brittle plastic) . Check the oil in it,and let it run for about 30 seconds or so. Noise may go away. Battery problems ever since I bought mine. Couldn’t leave it a week ,otherwise battery was dead. Also had to replace the battery once a year! ( Interstate battery). Now at 143000 miles,the head gasket blew. Look into the “Kessey module”. They seemed to have many problems regarding the battery issue. Things a frigging tank otherwise. Gas mileage,blah… I had fun for awhile,now I drive a Prius! Lol!

Thanks for the video. I’m new to the channel and new to the Touareg. I’ve got a trade offer on my very nice UTV for a 2005 touareg v10 tdi with 120k miles with every available option that looks new in every way. I don’t know wether to be excited or to run away. Any thoughts?

Ryan Azevedo thanks for watching! Like every used car it comes down to maintenance. If it’s been well maintained it might be a good option. People are afraid of the v10 because of how complex they are. Owners seem to love them and everyone else bad mouths them.

Owner claims all maintenance done at the dealership with records. Assuming this is true and assuming the vehicle is as immaculate as it looks, what value would you put on it? Ballpark

Ryan Azevedo In good shape with maintenance record would be 8-10k. It might be hard to sell though. You’d have to find an enthusiast.

You buy a fully loaded Touareg for $1,800 and you bitch out that is not clean. For that price I am surprised that you got the engine as well and all 4 wheels and you don't have chicken shit inside. You sound like you want to pay $1,800 and get a brand new Rolls.
