Personally, I think you should use the first cab-over as a work truck and COMPLETELY go through this one. Do a nice paint job, well rebuilt engine, and strip everything down. The new truck is already stretched, which is what you were thinking about doing to the white truck.

Absolutley the more practical and logical way forward. Make a already good truck better.

But the stretched frame is better for work so in actuality he’s making the best decision to slowly build the short frame into a dream show truck that he will most likely paint and use this one in the mean time since stretching a frame and building a truck from the ground up takes time and he needs a truck for lots of his stuff like flat nasty

I'm still rooting for that International 9670! Hundreds of those International cabovers spent their retirement in Southern Africa carrying everything from cattle to mining equipment over vast distances. Their sight is still common today, and you will find many of your African and South American viewers have a soft spot for it.

Ex trucker here and im jelly. I love old freightliners and its a cab over at that, plus stretched with a detroit and a super 10.... man what a combo. Ive only drove super 10s a few times and itll take a little getting used to but once you get it down, youll love it. A lot less shifting than a standard 10. When you go up a gear with the button just flip the switch while youre still on the throttle, give it a little extra throttle, then let of the fuel and itll bump right in every time. I like the fairings as well.

It definately looks like it was an old Werner truck before the frame was extended. The extended blind spot mirror, color and most certainly those smaller fuel tanks are what Werner used back in the day.

For a truck that age she's a steal! She's still in great shape. Just a little polishing, sorting the problems and a touch up will make her a sweet runner for long trips! I've come up with a name. "Big Blue Diamond!" Cause of her color and looks! XDD

In 1987 I bought a new Western Star that color with darker blue stripe. Loved that truck. Had a big cat in it, 355 rears, big rubber. Then I bought a 85 k100 cab over, hauled crushed cars with that truck.. They paid me $500. to drive 118 miles one way. I made 3 to 4 trips a day. That was the money truck. Miss it every day.

I know I'm in the minority however I like the fairing extensions, please put the Jac/engine brake back on those 12.7L sound AMAZING in those years I think it's a DD3 and I never shifted each gear manually on a super 10 you just flick the switch forward and push the clutch in or if you do it right you can flick the switch just let off the throttle and the rpms will drop and shift without the clutch. I drove many Detroit's and super 10 in my career.

Best looking cab on a truck ever. Sounds sweet too. USA truck masterpiece. Here in the UK we had some good old shit but nothing to match a White Freightliner for mean looks. I found a couple still working in Cuba back in the early 2000's, all gone now. Keep your one going.......

A little tip on shifting an old truck, the have a straight not helical cut gears like a car and require double clutching. Hit revs pull into neutral goose the fuel a bit and clutch into next gear.

You don’t have to come outta every gear on a super 10, hit the splitter and let the RPMs drop and it’ll go in gear then get back on the throttle

So even though I'm not a fan of it being stretched I actually like the look of it, I would leave those flares on the back of the cab, just keeps that cab in portion with chassis due to how stretched out it is. And a big polished alloy bull bar for the front.

Had a 95 Freightliner cabover at work. Ours had a n14 Cummins 10 speed. Pulled really good. We haul 98,000+ pounds and it would pull that weight no problem. It was my truck to drive. Unfortunately another driver rolled it and it got totalled. He was ok didn't get hurt. I miss that truck didn't even have 500,000 miles on it.

Jeff 1969 would definitely look great but the United States carries a bridge law so regardless the amount of axels, legally depending on the state the most the truck could gross is 80-85k so other than the fuller look on the frame a Tri drive axel would be pointless but I’m not apposed to the idea a bit 🤙🏻

The purpose of a super 10 is to cut down on the need for clutching. Basically, you double clutch every time you move the stick. When you flip the lever, all you do is back off the throttle to let the RPM's drop, then ease back on the throttle and the shift happens internally with no clutch action needed. They're great for city / delivery driving. The big problem with them is that a super 10 can be more mechanically fragile than a straight 9 or 10, so driver abuse can grenade them much faster.

Wow I grew up in one of those... My dad drove the piss out of his..... He would do burn outs, and pull the mountains 55 mph no worries.... He always joked it was slow up the mountain but it was the fastest down hill truck you've ever seen..... He affectionately called his truck the "kidney buster" and he was right.... edit: After watching this his one was older maybe late 70's to early 80's model... His had the the long metallic flaked switches and steering wheel.... The inside was way to new compared to his..... Also thanks for the memories that came flooding back. It was nice to remember things I had almost forgot about....
