Nice example💯, but like all 1980s, early 90s GM cars quality control at the factory was horrible. 3rd & 4th generation Camaros were known for "Door sag" over time because of the weight of those long heavy doors / unibody construction chassis flex. I would invest in a set of subframe connectors and have them "welded" not bolted to the chassis especially if you plan on adding some Horsepower upgrades....Safe driving with your new toy 😊👍
@FWDSUXARSE
@FWDSUXARSE 11 ай бұрын
I did that with my 98 Trans Am a few years ago. Weld in subframe connectors, koni sport shocks, adjustable panhard bar, front strut tower brace. I plan on upgrading front and rear sway bars, and a rear lca relocation.

@@imbatman3620 I was considering that too. If I'm replacing the K member, and the motor is out, I'm doing H/C/I as well and all supporting upgrades so that may be further down the line.

The red interior is sick as hell. And the license plates “rocshow” is cool too. Very nice buy. Congratulations. And for the black paint. Everyone knows black is the hardest paint to clean and keep clean. Black paint looks great at night. But during the day you can notice the swirls.

Very nice car. Great color combination, too. When I worked at a dealership back in the 80's I got to drive a 5.0L TPI with 5-spd, what a blast! That, to me, is a wonderful combination. Lugging in second gear and rolling into the throttle you could break into serious wheelspin without warning. From a rolling stop I spun tires through the first three gears, chirped into fourth, and had well buried the speedo by fifth. Again, what a blast!

For the loose vents - go to the auto parts store and get a pack of generic o-rings. Put an o-ring around the male side of the vent that snaps into the hole in the dash. Voila. This will make your vents stay in place like a new car

Gorgeous car. Really makes me miss my 1987 IROC-Z. My favourite of all the cars I've owned, and one I never should have sold. The red interior of yours is in incredible condition. Hopefully you can minimize its time in direct sunlight, as that interior is known to fade really badly (most of the original red interiors, now days all these decades later, are more pink than red). That car must have been garaged most of its entire life. Be nice if you could source some repro VR50 Gatorbacks for it.

You are correct about the T-Tops. In either 89 or 90 (I am pretty sure it was 90) they stopped offering T-Tops because the torque from the 350 engine was causing the T-Tops to crack in previous years of the car. You could get them with the 305 however and of course the V6. 😁

Yes it is correct also because back in 1994 I bought an 1989 Trans Am GTA with t-tops and the 350. The previous owner told me it was the last year to get that package for the GTA and IROC. Great cars but yes the torque was insane and the t-tops leaked cause the bar cracked, it was noticed when car was being repainted.

That generation of F-body was the most beautiful in the history of the vehicles. Damn I hope you saved those gator back tires, they are worth money… I’ve heard the same about the 350 and t-tops. I have a 92 1LE. I think it was the G92 option that you couldn’t get with t-tops. I think your leak is coming from the weap hole in the bottom of the water pump. If it is, you should call Edelbrock, get the aluminum reverse flow water pump. Put a 180 thermostat in it and it will never over heat if you keep the lower air deflector in place(the one underneath the car, near the front sway bar). Great job on the car, it is beautiful. 1990 is the best year if you want an IROC. I’m going to guess that you paid 22K, because the market has fallen a bit. Realistically, it should be a 25-30K car I believe, but let me know if I’m wrong.

Total cars with the 350 L98/B2L was 2,415. Yours seems to be fairly late in the production run. The IROC trademark expired on Dec 31 1989 at midnight so that's why the '90 model was such a short run. 1991Camaro production started in February 1990 and ran a long 18 months to August 1991. Bought a new 87 in April of 87, 350, no t tops red with maroon interior. 4 years later I only had 18 thousand miles on it and was driving around when a 16 year old kid who just got his license that morning ran a stop sign and hit the side of me and sent me out of control and hit a stone wall and a tree 🌳, needless to say I was in the hospital for 6 weeks and the car 🚗 was no more. Man do I miss that car 🚗.

@jethro1260 I order/owned a loaded '87 5.7 w/t-tops. I sold it in 2005 with 20,200 miles on it. The guy that purchased it off me still has it.

Almost perfect IROC, just missing t-tops for that full trip back to the 80’s. Congrats on your purchase!

My first car was a 1988 iroc. It was not in anywhere near the condition yours is in. However i really liked it and wish i still had it. Mine was t top and i think the coolest part was the leather ttop bags that strapped into the hatch area. Like you mentioned in your video, my fuel pump went out several times.

Thanks to the advancement in car technology, you can make it run as hard as you can imagine. A modern LT1 would be great in this beauty. Just like a coyote engine inside of a 88 fox body. The possibilities are endless 😊

Even an LS engine would be a great choice. Modern LT1 is expensive comparatively. And LS motors are everywhere for a pretty low price with large aftermarket support.

$14,000. Paints not perfect, Tires were toast, no T-tops, That's my guess. If you got it for that you did REALLY well as it looks like a very clean well preserved Iroc. Thanks for sharing your amazing Camaro! Looks like a really smart purchase.

My ex stepdad had this exact model, options, and color. Can't remember for sure if it was an 89 or 90 but did have T -tops. Although I'm not a big Chevy fan, I really liked that car and what he did to it. In my opinion, to make this even better, do this.... Limo tint the glass. Install large bladed louvers over back glass BUT have painted in the same black color code. Hand paint the spoke lines on the wheels red. Double clear coat entire car and wheels. Black out rear tail lights. Old school White letter Goodyear eagles are a plus too. I detailed that car numerous times and was still impressed every time I saw it. Unfortunately, I heard the next owner had wrecked it pretty bad.
