6 жыл бұрынI made a video last July showing what I thought was the smallest hamster cage ever....I was wrong. I found a tiny cage that only provides about 33 square inches of floor space. While I know not everybody can afford to buy a large aquarium or custom hamster cage, if you need a hamster cage on a budget please look into making a bin cage instead of considering any cage similar to the one shown in the video.

Copperflash Actually, the majority of hamsters could fit in a 6.5 inch wheel seeing as the only one that couldn't is a Syrian but Chinese hamsters, Russian dwarf hamsters and robo hamsters all can use a 6.5

Espy_Kinz actually, both Syrians AND Chinese hamsters cannot be in a 6.5 inch wheel. Chinese hamsters may be short, but they’re long and it’s just bad for their backs. Unless you’re talking about baby Chinese hamsters.

I think what gets me about people saying things like "people can't afford large enclosures!!" like... why are you getting an animal that you can't afford to give proper housing to in the first place... Like having animals is a privilege, not a right, and it's a huge responsibility and it literally blows my mind when I see people bitching about things like this when there are more affordable options out there or -- just don't own the animal.

I love hamsters and small pets, but since they are night time creatures, they would bug me. People see a small animal and think that it needs a small space. Eg. The damn betta fish! They are not suited to little cubes of water...

Exactly. I understand not having the money to buy a $200 dollar cage but there are so many options for a hamster cage, I used a large glass aquarium for mine. There are also tanks and cages you can buy on craigslist or bulletin board, or you can even make one yourself for a pretty cheap price.

I think it should be used as an emergency escape pod. You never know when you might have to quickly grab all your animals and put them in their carriers and gtfo. I’d modify it so that i can hang it on my shoulder or something. But it should be a last resort kind of thing, there are better carriers out there.

Glitter islife Where I live there is a crazy amount of lady bugs so when I was little I would go to the store and get those little butterfly things you would put a butterfly in and I would put a lady bugs in then for like months and they would die and I would just have a grave yard of poor little lady bugs on my porch 😂😂😂( I was weird too its ok)

MIZZKIE You could definitely use that cage to transport a hamster to the vet, and I've taken my dwarf hamster to my moms house in a similar carrier the size of this small cage house for about an hour for a visit which is perfectly fine as long as theres food and water supply to last a few hours

That's good that it's not a actually cage for them but I recommend giving them a bit bigger cage for traveling because all there gonna do is stay in one spot and that's boring for them so somewhere where you can keep a wheel and a few toys to entertain them will do the trick. This is probably good for when you clean the hamsters cage, or just for short time travel, but no hamster or any animal should live in something like this. A hamster will live their whole life in a cage, so they should definitely have company and a LOT of space to roam and explore so they don’t get bored

I wouldn't even use it for that. Way too small for a travel cage, and DEFINITELY way too small to put them in for the hour or so you need to clean a good sized cage.

Destiny Grace please do not. Even for a dwarf hamster there is no room in that cage to run around. I used to own robos and would never dream of subjecting them to such a tiny environment. Their cleaning cage doesn’t need to be massive, my old one was about 20cmx15cm iirc, but this cage in particular is waaay too small and can stress a hamster out in a matter of minutes

I drilked air hokes in the sides and a cut a huge piece of the lid and covered it with mesh then connected the mesh to the top of the lid. Then I set it up, and my hamster loves it!

Atlantisqueenx the usually are but some people label them for 24/7 cages which is so cruel. Even If it was a travel cage, it would still be animal cruelty especially because of the size and there is no room for food!

@@mirandabuffone2393 my travel cage doesnt have a wheel water bottle or food bowl... its a travel cage it literally has bedding in you should only travel with a hamster if your moving or going to the vet to be honest as it stresses them out so much

It's such a cute carrying case. The fact that someone would allow a living animal to LIVE in there full time is disgusting. Wtf. They would barely have enough room to turn around, let alone play, climb, run and express all of it's essential natural hamster behaviour

A Moth it depends. For me i have long haired hamsters so it wouldn't wouldn't work (obviously) but there are better options and it does depend also how long it would have to be in there

KS well I have hamsters and rats before and if your only changing the bedding it would be OK for a little bit. But if your deep cleaning the cage it needs too bigger since they are in there for a long time :)

Also check craigslist for aquariums, large critter cages or ferret cages. You can find some pretty good deals. I bought a 30 gallon long aquarium for 10.00 and then I added a screened lid.

Ok I really need to say this. That tiny cage has a pipe entrance through its chimney, which tunnels/tubes can be used, The idea is you have a standard cage that can have added units to the cage such as this pink tiny cage which is called an ADD ON. What does an "add on" mean this is generally a term where you can have attachments and added features. Some come as a kit, some are universal fitting so you can design a dream home for the hamster... I CANNOT believe people actually THINK it's just a single cage.

I saw a bunch of small hamster cages in this street market that sells pets (birds, rodents, some exotic animals like sugar gliders and bats, and some more) they were either as tiny as the ones shown here or smaller. There were also syrians that were stuffed into the same cage together, not to mention they were placed in a very loud area. Poor hamsters. The same things were done to rabbits, guinea pigs and other small rodents. Even some cats treated like that. They didn't look healthy at all. Some of the animals had discharge from their eyes and nose. Unfortunately, these animals are treated like objects to sell for a cheap price.

In my country people OFTEN use cages similar to this for hamsters, even i once used it when i was a kid because my dad suddenly bought me a hamster. Although i upgraded it to a 'bigger' cage (still small as hell, i didn't know back then), my dad ended up buying me another hamster because he thought the cage can fit another one.
