I bought a You and Me brand dust bath. I literally poured it into a ceramic bath and the air totally dusted up! I will never use that lol... I didn't read that is was labeled 'dust' bath.

when my brother was younger (around 2009) he had a hamster with a barred wheel and she got her neck stuck in it and died :( I’ve learned a lot about hamsters since then and I would never buy a barred/metal wheel for my current hamster or any future hamsters

my hamster has no wheel cause she's special needs (her right foot is paralized)

And the worst thing is that once in a book written in 2016 (not the '90s) I read that the minimum cage space is 19 square inches!!!!!!!! That's less than half the size of an iPad. I reported that book (read online) to the site but it's still on there today. I sincerely hope no one reads it and believes it.

all the comments going "omg i use this at home i feel bad i looked at the package and i thought it was okay" make me sad. i always do tons and tons of research when purchasing ANYTHING for my pets and ive come across soooooo many reviews about products from people who dont really care about the deeper level of care. they see dirt with a lizard on the bag and they go "WOW! DIRT! IT WORKS!" but they dont look at the properties or jobs it needs to do. the trick is to label things like these hamster items with a big picture of a big hamster and then pretty colors and almost nobody will question it. its so sad that all dedicated pet owners come across this : thinking something is okay because customer reviews and chain petstores praise things they know nothing about and it puts pets in danger

I cant get a hamster wheel that is covered so I wrap mine with paper and replace the paper one a week, that is if your hamster does not pee on the wheel.

I know this sounds dumb but I don't have a hamster or anything, but why do you need a ten inch wheel if it fits in like a five, like why does it need it. Not being rude just curious

What is your opinion on hamster balls? I think they are inhumane and cruel. The animal has no access to food, and more importantly water, and most of the time doesn't even want to go into one. It's literally just for the human!

I wish I would have found your channel before I had my first hamster. You seem very passionate about these animals. My hammy died and she had some of these products such as the wheel, and the food.

I once read a book about gerbils, and in the wheels it said that wire mesh wheels are bad, but say it's _PERFECTLY_ fine for hamsters. You cant trust books anymore.

I sadly have used cotton fluff for my hamster and luckily nothing happened but when I learned it wasn’t safe I took it out and never used it again ! It’s ok to make mistakes as long as you fix them!

I think it's hilarious that people dust bathe their hamsters. I use dust bath for my chinchillas, because they NEED it. If anyone didn't know, chinchillas roll in dust to bathe, because they can't get wet.

Though I did do my research, my biggest mistake was giving my hamster a cage that was too small. Of course, it wasn’t tiny, it was actually a Habitrail Loft, and while I did add a BUTTLOAD of attachment including multiple bin cages, modular cages are never a good thing. Say you have a huge acreage, but instead of it being one giant place, it’s just a bunch of tiny lots. It’d feel a lot smaller. Now I have a Detolf and my hamster is loving it!

With the wire wheel, We had to use that one because it never squeaked. I started to loose sleep because of the wheel we had before. The wheel we started with was when I was around ten and didn’t do any research, which was a bad decision, and had to go to a fish tank for an Enclosure. The wheel in his cage had a solid bottom, but he didn’t get on it right, he was on top of the wheel and hurt his foot. It got bad and we had to take the wheel out till it healed. Yes it was a bad thing to do but it was the only thing that would heal him at that time. So we went to the wired wheel because he couldn’t get on top of it and wouldn’t try too. Buck, my hamster, was alive for almost three years. Sadly, He died on December 22nd around 3:30.

I didn't have a wheel for my hamster (I don't have her anymore unfortunately) because she literally never even touched it. I spent ages ensuring it was the right size and I bought a plastic one. I ended up just taking it out the cage because it was wasting space and I replaced it with a flying saucer, which she LOVED sooooo much.

I just recently adopted my chinchilla and I have that dust bath for my chinchilla just bigger. Chinchillas NEED DUST baths so they can’t do sand baths. The reason for this is because they absolutely CAN NOT get wet so in the wild, they roll in soot to get of their natural oils. I plan on switching to oxbows poof around Christmas when it goes on sale, but for know that dust bath is what I use.

A few months ago, I bought my guinea pigs some of that fluffy bedding, but before putting it in, I looked online to make sure that it was safe for them and it was not so I ended up throwing it all away. Anything to keep my pigs safe!

We use Tiny Friends Farm bathing sand! It's a 2lb tub for £3 and it's great! My hammy absolustely adores it
