I'm 40, have a 2 year old daughter, a brain tumour and work in a supermarket. I'm tired. So tired of austerity, corruption, no dentists run down NHS, environmental tragedy. These people are horrific. I voted for Corbyn, but will vote for Starmer in the hope things might get better.

My younger brother died last week after a battle with cancer, he was 62. if he had been diagnosed sooner I think he would have has a fighting chance. I am convinced that 12 years of Tory austerity was responsible. If ordinary working people vote for this lot again then we are done for. The Tory party is now devoid of any morals and unfit to govern.

yes that's true. but it feels like even if she gets out of this and we "all move on", there's no way to resolve the underlying conflict *within* the Tory Party. Most people who voted for Brexit wanted more national control in a way which benefitted ordinary people. But Truss and Kwarteng belong to the very small libertarian vanguard who see Brexit as the means to build some kind of Ayn Rand society of sovereign individuals (or whatever it is)... Red Wall vs Free Market fanatics. that's a dilemma that just can't be resolved. so there will be another crisis down the line, and then another and so on...

@@alankirkby465 no, they don’t forget and they don’t forgive. And can a lot happen in the next two years? Yes, most likely an early election as she can’t form a government, she doesn’t have the faith of her MPs (who most didn’t vote for her anyway, especially if you remove the votes she was lent by Sunak as he thought he could beat her). They can’t remove her for a year and she can’t get anything through Parliament. She changed her mind on this as she couldn’t get it passed, not anything to do with the market, the pound of the public being angry, it was that she can’t get any policy through. She has no mandate from the public, no mandate from her party for what she wants to do. She won’t last very long, the big question is will it be an election before or after Christmas. And what can happen between then? Based on her first actual week in the job, a whole lot worse for everyone

its also interesting how at a time of rising interest rates borrowing to fund ongoing tax cuts is a perfectly reasonable policy. As an aside, I have never understood this fuss they make over bankers' bonuses. At the risk of sounding thick, are we short of bankers? If so, why do we need to attract them with even larger bonuses when the ones in place are so huge? Do these elite few carry magic beans to fix us? And if I was a banker, looking for a job, the UK doesn't seem appealing for a dozen other more compelling reasons than a bonus. Don't we need more nurses than bankers? When will we start caring about people just as much as we care about money? Feels like society in general is circling the drain and we keep making the plughole bigger...

Well even if Mrs Sunak was paying UK tax, with the policy Liz Truss just did a U-Turn on, it would have bought in a tidy extra sum of money with the scrapping of the extra 5% tax for the billionaire. So using that as an argument was ridiculous when she would have been putting extra money, literally millions, back into her pocket even is she was a UK tax payer. She was always going to be helping the richest with all the extra benefits with taxation as well as bankers bonuses, no windfall tax, lower corporation tax, higher cap on energy as it’s still a 98% increase as opposed to 156% which isn’t even half the reduction. Plus she said for average households it will be capped at no more then £2,500 so that isn’t everyone. The Middle class is being obliterated so we will end up with two groups, the poor and the rich. No scales of in-between.

There is a serious problem in the UK and in other countries as well no doubt, but for years now, there has been an almost endless merry go round of talentless, incompetent, men and women moving through the board rooms of this countries major businesses. These people join companies whose business is something they know absolutely nothing about, they stay just long enough to be acrue huge ammounts of money, and then move on to another company, before they can completey decimate the fortunes of the company they are leaving. And the reason that I bring this up here, is because the same mentality and behaviour is also prevalent in Westminster. Especially in the Tory party, who's raison d'etre it seems, is to protect the idiots mentioned above.
