Hoppy Easter, everybunny! Unfortunately, I had quite the battle with my chronic illnesses today. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t make it through church. It was very discouraging to say the least, but I’m not going to be too hard on myself. All I can expect of myself is to do the very best I can within my circumstances. At the end of the Vlog, you can watch me prep Har’s raw meals (or maybe not, if you think that sort of thing is gross)! Thank you for joining us on this glorious day and our adventure!

Yay! So glad you're feeling better. Don't feel to bad about church. God knows all and He see's your dedication even in tough times. Judd's joke was funny. If you need a good laugh today here's my favorite joke. How do you make an octopus laugh? You give him ten-tickles!

I go to a small church and everyone there knows me so I can lay down during service without anyone giving me funny looks. It's so nice :). Hopefully someday you will find a way to "do" church in person in a way that works for you. Not that online church is not good but it can be lonely at times

I'm adding a comment of my own because a lot of people asked. A cushion at church would help, but very minimally. I need to be in a reclined position to ease my joint pain (that is why I was in the reclining chair at the condo). I can't really do that at church because the chairs don't do that! I appreciate the kind thoughts though! Just wanted to answer everyone's question in one spot. :)

Jaquie Blake At some point, you should consider a power wheelchair that reclines. As you probably already know, power wheelchairs require additional infrastructure investment, like a vehicle that can be used to transport it, so it can be quite an investment. You'll know when you're ready. My late husband was reluctant to switch to a power chair, but when he finally got one, he was surprised by how much independence and freedom he gained.
@phoenixmoon5580
@phoenixmoon5580 7 жыл бұрын
Does your walker have a 'seat' on it? You could also look into getting a wheelchair (maybe if the church has one there that you could look into borrowing during the services). I am sure the church could sort out a different chair due to your requirements and your willingness to attend as often as you can!

SciFunwithJulie I LOVE the fact that my power chair not only reclines, but has a mode where as the back goes back, the seat tips at the same time...keeping my hips aligned.... it also has an elevator function so I can reach things on high shelves with minimal stress on my joints. I'm paralyzed but still have chronic pain.

Because of the internet, I say honestly there is no better time to be disabled, because you can even have church :) Love Peter Frey! I can attend entire church services WITH not having to get dressed AND being able to pause (and ok - honest - skip parts!), watch conferences of Bible teachers, read Bible studies, even watch videos in which I learn about this new Bible Journaling 'thing' & have people to say the Rosary with (yes, Catholic ... sort of ;) ). Just as wonderful, I can be connected with people of faith through all types of online platforms and learn about new ones///look up ones I've read about in print books!

Dear Jaquie, you did so amazing going to Church. At the best of times, as a well person it's just too hard to sit in Church. As Judd said you were there for 50 mins... as you said, cushion definitely wouldn't do much at all, you need to recline. Your teaching us all about chronic illness and that it's just not easy at all to do the simple things. Lovely to see Judd and all your family ! Happy Easter ! :) :) You are definitely hard on yourself, you definitely went well beyond ! :)

I have a friend with chronic illness's and she had problems with Sunday service as well. At least you tried and knowing your limits and health is more important, a good church understands and doesn't take it as a insult but will regularly visit members who can't make it due to illness and health on a regular bases. Yes God understands and you are servicing him in your own way though these videos by helping others, that's what you were put on this earth to do. Keep going, glade your starting to feel better.

You mentioned the headphones, I just want to let you know that you can actually get "headphones" made specifically to block out sound, they're actually the kind made for protecting your ears while shooting guns. I used to use a pair myself growing up so I could focus on reading in school (I've got ADHD). They're great, way more effective than headphones and they don't have a cord, so that's one less thing to worry about. I got mine at a Walmart a long time ago, I seriously recommend investing!

It's hard for me to make it to our churches services, which I've really hated because it was hard for us to find a church that was sound in doctrine but open and affirming in our area. Practically every Sunday I go through a ritual where I have to asses whether I feel well enough to go or not and 9 time out of 10 it's a no, especially more recently for some reason. My migraines and several other health issues have just decided to run rampant and it's been an uphill battle. Glad to see by the end of the video you were feeling better though. :)

Everyone that feeds raw starts out measuring every little bit. You'll eventually get more comfortable with the diet and get to the point where you look at a piece of meat and say "yeah, that looks about right" and rarely ever use the scale again.

One should never feel bad about not making it through church, if anyone understands it is God, He has created us all. Also Easter services and events are usually very elaborate and long so that is hard for anyone, I had an issue last 2 times in one of the churches we go to. You can also observe many masses and services and religious movies on youtube and other places and God loves you for the attempt. The most important thing is to have the Love of Jesus in your heart and your do, but don't forget to love yourself first.

Have you tried doing something similar (nutrition -wise) for you and Judd so that you still eat well when you're not feeling well? I don't know how you can remember everything you say in your vlogs. I have memory issues and I couldn't do that. Kudos to you!

I have memory issues too, but it usually manifests in me repeating conversations over and over again. Sometimes I record the same things on my camera multiple times without knowing, then when I go to edit it's the same conversation multiple times haha! I do not food prep for Judd and I because I like to cook, but I would not mind "freezer meals." It seems tricky though and I really just have not looked into it.

Do you ever have a problem using your rollator? I had to switch recently to a lightweight powerchair for longer distances, and a BLD mobility harness for my service dog for quick 10 minute type errands. I have POTS too, and many other illnesses that cause extreme fatigue, and putting weight on my arms causes my heartrate to skyrockett, so while I used a rollator a long time, it often exacerbated my symptoms. Any thoughts?? :) I am enjoying your vlog very much!

I love your vlogs, thanks for doing them. I've start feeding raw because of your vlogs. My SD is doing so much better☺. I'm comfortable with raw chicken and beef liver but I worry about raw pork because of parasites. I read that raw meat should be frozen for three weeks also to kill parasites. I haven't been leaving the chicken frozen for that long though. My SD is exposed to a lot already on our small farm, recently tapeworms😦. Is pork a problem still? Also her breathe is gross, it's not her teeth because she just had a checkup. She does have hypothyroidism and takes levothyroxine. Just a side note; if you want to smell something rank, cook kidneys😛. Thanks🌸

I have heard that fish needs to be frozen for 2 weeks before being fed, nothing about any other type of meat. I feed chicken, beef liver and pork kidneys. I freeze them after prepping but not for any specific amount of time. There are tons of other things you can use for that 5% of "other organ" though!

Our church does online and radio service. I have to stay there, but I can't sit still. It hurts to sit down in uncomfortable benches! I don't have anything that you have, except asthma, which isn't so bad that I need my inhaler as often as you. I inhale smoke every day because my dad can't quit. He tried quitting, but he continues to do a box every few days. But you are lucky you sleep easily, I have insomnia so then I can't sleep too easily. But I have a terrible anxiety disorder, and I'm planning on training a service dog for my anxiety. I have no idea if my parents would get a dog, cat, both, or none. When I move out in like 10 years, I hopefully will get a dog and train it. I wish I could meet you, but you live in Florida and I live in Minnesota. Not only that, you live in Tampa and I visit Leesburg, Florida. You just inspire me to train a service dog

So where do you get that mask? I have end stage lung disease and have to wear a mask when I go to the doctor or ER so I don't get a cold or the flu which could very easily kill me since my lungs don't function well enough to fight that off. I don't wear one when I go out as I dont feel its really needed but when I should wear one I would rather it looks like the one you have so its not so obvious and doesnt look like the ones at the doctors office! I also have a lot of chronic medical issues but try not to think about them and just deal with whatever each day brings. One of the things I have is a condition in my neck where the main area of the neck that holds the head onto the body, called the atlas, is eaten away by severe degenerative arthritis and it could go at any time meaning I would be instantly paralysed from the high upper neck down including the diaphragm so I would stop breathing and won't be able to tell anyone and will die. Ws told I will be aware of what's happening as well. I do my best not to let it scare me though. Those are just 2 of the issues I have. I can't stop or change it so I just try to act like it's not there. Not an easy thing to do because it's extremely painful. so yeah. keep your chin up! Love the mask it's so pretty and doesnt look like a medical device

I don't know anything about what you have, all the various things you have. Do you just have random allergy attacks or is there some kind of outside stimulation that sets you off? (If this question has been answered in another video, I apologize. I'm new and haven't gone through all your videos yet.)

Wait you can use a heating pad? What does that do with your heat sensitivity?
@ChronicallyJaquie
@ChronicallyJaquie 7 жыл бұрын
A heating pad releases tension in one specific area, it does not heat up my entire body. If you watch Saturday's Vlog you will learn the "science" behind the heat issues. A heating pad will not cause all my blood vessels to dilate. :)

Hi Jacquie! I was wondering, because you go to church and do believe (right? I've heard you tell it in the vlogs, but correct me if I'm wrong!), how do you combine your religion with your treatments and use of medicine and all that? I would think it would be ''weird'' or just maybe ''cherry picking'' (not being English/American is hard when trying to find the right words) for anyone to be very religious but also firmly believing in the fact that medicine can help you get through your chronic illnesses. Can you elaborate? Or maybe you have never thought about it before, then please don't feel attacked by me in any way! I'm just a curious being and I love watching your vlogs and seeing how you are doing, so naturally for me I like to know more about you and your lifestyle :) I'm just very curious and am not trying to attack or offend you in any way! XOXO

I don't feel attacked, you asked so nicely. :) I attend "online church" by watching sermons on KZfaq. It isn't against my religion to receive medical treatment, I have never turned down a medication/treatment due to religious beliefs. Who is to say that new treatments and drug breakthroughs are not our answered prayers for better health/improvement in quality of life? Who is to say the people of modern medicine who are making such discoveries are not the instruments God uses to answer our requests for cures, remedies, etc? That is how I see it, at least! God is with me on my journey to better health, and that includes utilizing the best treatments out there. :)

@@ChronicallyJaquie I'm not religious in the way I go to Church or something, but I still believe there is a Higher Power who has the best intentions for us. The only pet peeve I have with some religious people are the one's who say..."Owh thats just God's will and a punishment for sins...and we humans are not to allowed to interfere with "His Plans" and go off on a litanie how prayer and the stuff they do "would make you better"...... I call those people "Stand Up...And Walk!!!! Church" Yeah right! If God does not want us to have medicine or other cures....He wouldn't let us find those cures and medicines!!! But that's my opinion! Take Care! X Lady Arachnia

I know you probably want one but you could get a wheelchair with a padded cushion in it so you can go out even when you can't get around so easily.

I have a wheelchair. :) Here is a comment I posted because a few people suggested this: I'm adding a comment of my own because a lot of people asked. :)

Jaquie Blake that's interesting. I have specific antibody deficiency. And to quote the IDF (immune deficiency foundation), "Patients who otherwise produce normal immunoglobulin levels but who lack the ability to produce protective IgG molecules against the types of organisms that cause upper and lower respiratory infections are said to have Specific Antibody Deficiency (SAD). SAD is sometimes termed partial antibody deficiency or impaired polysaccharide responsiveness." There are so many different types of primary immunodeficiencies!
