Happy Saturday! Today was rather busy. Although I didn’t get a chance to prep it, we FINALLY got the rest of Harlow’s raw diet necessities! We also managed our grocery shopping at Walmart, braving the crowds the day before Easter. I realize I need to better understand blood glucose readings/levels after today! We ended our busy afternoon by seeing our family. Thanks for joining us on our adventure, I hope y’all had a great start to your weekend!

How cool! This is the first video I see from you and I was so reminded of the Frey Life, who I absolutely love... and then you mention them! :D Peter and Mary are absolutely incredible. The little conversations I've had with Mary, she is so sweet and inspiring. You've got a new follower in me. :) (not just because you mentionned the Frey Life, because I really enjoyed this video! lol) Gonna go check out some other videos on your channel.

I'm catching up on some older videos. You are a source of inspiration to me everyday. I've never considered myself a warrior my entire life, but I guess I am. From having arthritis at a very young age dealing with painful joints in my hands, wrists and knees and then later in my life dealing with diabetes and back surgery that has put me in a wheel chair. You are so young and are the greatest warrior. You, Jaquie are my warrior princess, my Wonder Woman and my hero. And Judd is also my hero. I want to let you know that you are an inspiration as well. Thank you so much for your service. God must have sent you to Jaquie because you are truly her angel. And you are funny too lol. Thank you for taking me along on your adventure. I will keep you in my prayers.

I watch Peter's sermons too. He's so good. As well, I find on-line church so much easier. It would be a rare occasion if I waited until I felt better, so thank goodness for on-line. Funny sidenote, my husband always asks if I want a piggyback ride. Of course I always say no because it would hurt my joints, but we get a good laugh. Hang in there.

For a non-Diabetic 80 - 120 is normal, anything below is low. I'm a Type 1 Diabetic and I have hypo/hyper u awareness so I can't feel my lows or highs on blood sugars. I wear a device called a constant glucose monitoring system. Maybe you can look into the Dexcom it checks your blood sugar every 5 minutes reading over 6k numbers a day. You calibrate it and stuff. Worth a shot to look into.

I would make sure to add more than just chicken and beef (pork as well with the pig feet) into Harlows diet. There is only two ways to do raw which is the Prey Model diet and BARF. It's all about variety to make sure your dog is getting ALL the nurtrients they need. It's a lot of research just gotta make sure to do it right so the dog recieves everything they need. 😊 (I also watched your meal prep already, if thats to get her used to it that's a great start but going further into the diet you will need to add more variety)

Judd likes to be in the Vlogs, he just has a full time job now so does not get much time to Vlog except on his days off. I actually had a few people contact me about the Harlow/beach questions so I address it more in tomorrow's upload, but pretty much she has to stay with me because she is my service dog. Legally she is allowed on the beach, but I just cannot handle the heat myself.

I have the top 2 vertebrae fused after a random neck break (could be caused by EDS but I haven't been diagnosed) and I can truly tell you if you don't absolutely need a fusion, don't do it. I've had my fusion for 10 years and it severely limits my range of motion thus causing a lot of muscle pain. The hardware in my neck also causes my neck to hurt.
@ChronicallyJaquie
@ChronicallyJaquie 7 жыл бұрын
Sarah Freeman I definitely don't want a fusion, but the risks coming from the hypermobility are also bad. This is why I'm going to contact my most trusted EDS doctor at Mayo, I'll definitely trust in whatever he says! Thank you so much for the insight, I really appreciate it. It helps me make a more educated decision!

Sarah Freeman Sarah Freeman I have EDS and I was originally fused skull-c2 then fused again c2-c5. Just because I have chiari malformation and I had the surgery when I was 6 which made my already unsteady EDS neck way worse. I agree with you for the most part, I try to put off fusions until I'm in a neck brace 24/7 (and absolutely have to due to symptoms) and my quality of life goes drastically downhill. But it's a personal choice. I hope you have a good day today💕💕

Hallie Osborne My doctor said I don't really need to change the needles all that often so long as I'm the only one using them (which I am). This is the one that my doctor had in the office to give me, if I find that I need to monitor my sugar levels more frequently because they are abnormal then I will get a different one that's a little more convenient. :)

76 is low for me. it depends on how your body reacts. shakey, dizzy, are signs of low blood sugar. I carry glucose tablets you can get them from Walmart. to raise my sugar levels
@elizabethannegriffith
@elizabethannegriffith 7 жыл бұрын
76 isn't technically low, but if you had eaten 1-3 hours before than it is lower than it should be. i would say after eating it should be 100-120 or so. anything below 70 when fasting is low and you would need sugar (get some glucose tabs that may be easy on your stomach and quick to eat) and over 120 is high.
@ChronicallyJaquie
@ChronicallyJaquie 7 жыл бұрын

Jaquie Blake you're welcome! you were probably at your peak blood sugar at that time (which is lower than what it should be) so that may be why you were dizzy again later on because you may have gone actually low after that in addition to POTS. by the way happy easter!

Elizabeth Griffith Oh, that makes sense! I did become a lot dizzier, I was thinking of rechecking my sugar but I don't really know how BG works... I'm still hoping that my GP isn't causing any sugar issues though, but we will see!

Jaquie Blake i hope you guys will become more confident with time! i think you will. when i got diagnosed with t1 diabetes blood sugar was very confusing and now it is second nature. i would say to make sure you advocate for as many test strips as you think you need because it is a hassle and they are pricey. i would check maybe 3 times a day and record your readings (there may be an app that can connect to your glucometer) and look for patterns. 😊

Pro tip: go more to the side of your finger. Not on the side, but just not as close to the center as it looked like you were doing. You have better vasculature and less nerve endings, so it hurts less and you can do a shallower stab (if you have an adjustable lancet, that is) to get the same amount of blood.

oh have you heard of these omni pods its wirelessly connected to a erm machine that reads bolus levels, helps level out a baseline, sugar levels. plus because the pod that connects (sticks) to the skin and stores insulin. All you have to do is punch in how many carbs your eating, it calculates exactly how much insulin needs to gradually be released. plus you can download the data from the pod to see what times in the day your sugars spike. I dont know how the sugar levels differ from US to UK are but here 7.6 is really good as 7 is the recommended level. But than again if you've just eaten a snack its pretty low. hope I helped x

I'm pretty sure (someone correct me if I'm wrong please) Jaquie doesn't have diabetes or use insulin she just has to check her sugar when feeling symptomatic to see if she's low since it could be causing her dizziness. For me personally I'm TPN dependent (IV nutrition) along with having hypoglycemia so I have to check my sugar but I'm not diabetic. Hope that info helps! I'm sure your tip can help someone reading these comments though! :)

Does Harlow wear a seat belt or does she just sit well on car rides? I've been wondering since she's so good in car rides! If someone has already asked this or you've already explained this I'm sorry for the repeat question.
@ChronicallyJaquie
@ChronicallyJaquie 7 жыл бұрын
Har sits very well on car rides, with or without her seat belt. She wears a seat belt for her safety and ours, not to keep her in place. In a car accident, dogs can become very dangerous projectiles so we buckler her in with a Kurgo seat belt for dogs, it is SUPER sturdy and won't snap off or break like most of the other brands out there. Only problem, it does not come in pink. ;)
@kristamarie4163
@kristamarie4163 7 жыл бұрын
I'll defiantly have to look into that brand! My dog is never a bad rider when I drive, he just likes going back and forth between windows to leave nose art and his big butt blocks the back window sometimes. And like you said, his previous seat belt weren't sturdy and broke. But on a serious note, how do they not come in pink!?

Chronically Jaquie Onions contain an ingredient called thiosulphate which is toxic to cats and dogs. The ingestion of onions causes a condition called hemolytic anemia, which is characterized by damage to the red blood cells. Onion toxicity can cause the red blood cells circulating through your pet's body to burst. Edit: I got this from Nationwide pet insurance website. I am only trying to inform you if you didn't already know.

76 is not low, you are averaging for your age. you need to be concerned if below 55 or higher then 120. 76 is great for eating a small amount that you did. dizziness can because from some of your medicine. even allergies related as it is Spring and pollen count is higher. most asthmatic suffer this in high pollen count. note pollen count, mold, etc in your jouneral can help in understanding how this effect asthma. also know you insurance may not cover a early refill on your test strips. most only cover for test strip 2x daily even for newly diagnosed diabetics. most doctors ask for a food dairy with numbers 2 hours after you eat. jouneral is use for many reason such as food, BS, temperature on those days, etc... . good luck in your dairy jouneral. you never mention you BS 2 hour after cake

You could have low by symptoms because you are *dropping*, not necessarily because you are "too low". Happens to me all the time. You feel worse if you drop quickly, as in RH, even if you go from 300 to 200. In other words, it's not always about the number necessarily, but how fast you drop. Ask your doctor about "reactive hypoglycemia" if you get low quickly right after you eat--as you mentioned here. 💚

Danielle Edelberg No, but they became really good friends. It is really nice that our families get along so well, we have all gotten to know each other well over the past (nearly) 6 years Judd and I have been dating.
