'I don't respect her': Kostyuk hits out at Sabalenka and French Open crowd

Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk believes the French Open crowd should be embarrassed after they booed her off court at Roland Garros when she refused to shake hands with Aryna Sabalenka following the Belarusian’s 6-3, 6-2 win.

'I want to see people react in 10 years, when the war is over. They will not feel really nice about what they did.'
Kostyuk added that she 'does not respect' Sabalenka and accused the world No 2 of not using her platform to speak out against Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which is supported by Belarus. 'Just to reject her responsibility of having an opinion on the most important things in the world - I can't respect that'.
Sabalenka responded to Kostyuk's comments, saying 'I said many times, nobody - Russian or Belarusian athletes - support the war. Of course we don't support war. If we could stop it, we would - but it's not in our hands'.

Shaking hands with the Turkish? Nope. How about Mongolians? Of course not. The Japanese? Nope. So you pretty much only have like half a dozen countries that didn't commit any massacres, had no part in any wars, etc. Everyone else should hate each other. What a fantastic idea. Even better. What if a Vietnamese was born in the USA? Should that person hate himself/herself for it? What about Vietnamese women who are married to an American guy? Should they hate each other? My wife is American, and I'm Hungarian. Should we hate each other because our countries were at war during WW2? Just wow... So going by those standards, we should not adhere to double standards by simply not getting involved in another's affair especially when outside of the political and war arena. @Yeva I 2nd what Joseph said, also as Sabalenka said, none of the Athletes from Russia or Belaruse support the war, some including herself,Azaranka,Medvedev, Rublev have worn anti war shirts during practice and bracelets during matches, Medvedev even considered changing citizenship when it was looking REALLY bad for Ukraine until they started regaining ground.
