This basic nyc apartment has the one thing you can’t replace with fancy finishes - a sweet view of NYC! Would you live in Midtown surrounded by buildings? I think this is such an interesting apartment.

The Stella Towers you walked past...I saw a rental for $10,000. I could probably live on 10th Ave. no big deal. In the 1960's I lived on E. 20th near FDR dr. if you wanted a cab at night you were out of luck...they did not drive all the way down there and it was a long, long walk up to First Ave. Thank God for Uber today.

I may not have hundreds of places to shop and eat near my 20 acre place, but I do have geese on my pond, horses in my pastures, sightings of deer, turkeys, and numerous other forms of wildlife on a regular basis, and it's all for less than $900 a month.

You suggested all kinds of furniture options for the roof deck, but then say you wouldn't want to carry a tray of food up the spiral staircase. Other than a folding chair no one is buying table and chairs to schlep up those stairs. It would have been better to not have the roof access with the stairs and then there would be more floor space on the main floor. If you have the money, it's better as a 1 bedroom and the other room is an office or small den.
