@@Schuelke14 actually you can easily start out with $75k after the first year of being an otr trucker . With teams you make a hell of a lot more than that. If you're an owner operator you can make around 100k or more every month, depending on your freight.
@captainawesome2865

@SV _ not for owner operators, I know a guy that was making 140k a month. If you're working long enough for a company you can make 100k yearly easily. You don't need to be an owner operator.

been trucking 11 years. best advise , find an old school trucker who's been out there many years & talk to them as much as possible. I was fortunate enough to have some downtime & sat and talked with a 75 year old man who'd been on the road for 50 years. I learned a lot & the information was priceless. I'll never forget it.

I absolutely LOVE your vlogs! I’m a 59 yr old woman who very much wanted to become a truck driver back in the early eighties....I learned how to drive an old Kenworth twinstick ( 40 forward gears with 8 reverse), I could drive that truck like nobody’s business, but unfortunately at the time it was very hard to find work because I was a woman...that men felt like I had no business driving truck in the first place! And they let me know it too! I instead drove a 40 foot school bus for over 20 years. It wasn’t really what I wanted to do but at least it was still a large vehicle that kinda was like almost maybe driving a truck....except that my cargo was very precious and I treated it as such. I wish you well on your journeys and pray that the Lord keeps you and your beautiful dog safe always! Thank you so much for letting me experience my dream through you...☺️👍🏼🙏🏼💕 Terri

Driving backwards is a big part of trucking. Not just because it's a required action to dock and deliver, but because it's dangerous. More truck related accidents involve backing than on the highway.
@billydarley6925
@billydarley6925 4 жыл бұрын
@@Josh-of-all-Trades same with bus transit, actually the transit company I was looking into doesn't want any of their drivers to do any backing at all. Same with a rail crew shuttle company. If they find out you did any backing without calling the boss first they'll fire you. Companies are getting mighty upset with backing accidents.

I like the style of your vlogs now where you edit in in guessing what Dakota is saying throughout your uploads that’s always entertaining to me at least I don’t know about anyone else and I enjoy your journey as a female truck driver you are an amazing woman for showing other truck drivers your kindness the trailer fire upload you filmed that is a key truckers code to assist a truck driver in a emergency that is a true definition of a real truck driver who is there to help if you are in the vicinity I would not change anything as in what you decide to do in your uploads Dakota captions are entertaining the upload with Dakota driving your truck while you were retrieved the recovery semi truck was entertaining to watch 🙂 keep on truckin Shelby and this is off topic just a little bit but have you ever thought of leasing your own semi truck if the western star semi you are always driving is not a truck that you are not leasing because you have not ever said you are leasing the western star semi I was just curious about that aspect of your job and if you were leasing your own semi truck you could park your truck in front of your house instead of in the yard and the dispatch would notify you of your loads instead of going to the dispatch office to pick up the paperwork for your loads they could be faxed to your house then you could get on the road quicker

I think it's a perfect amount/mix of B-roll and you talking, they really complement each other very well. Oh, and the music, it's like a perfect choice, really enjoyable. The only thing I would like to see (and this is just because I am not familiar with all the cities in the States) is like a route from point A to point B on a map at the start of your journey perhaps. But anyway Shelby, just keep doing what you are doing, it's honestly AMAZING! And say hi to that beautiful dog :D

Bad driving Croatia nothing personal & don't take it the wrong way but look at it logically & safety wise. There's some sick mf's & stalkers, creepers, not a good idea for Shelby to do the map thing. Especially since shelby will probably do these routes often. And Shelby edit your videos take out ur truck number not a good idea. Just looking out for you, from one female to another. I'm sooooo glad that I got rid of my newer truck & got a non eld one. FMCSA/DOT has no freaking idea what it's like dealing with shippers, receivers & brokers. Our operating times are screwed up daily dealing with nonsense that's out of our control. Don't get me wrong, I love my job. I love it even more now because I have FULL control of my running times; not some freaking box. I'm a safe driver, but that eld will screw you up when you're running behind. And don't come at me with that load planning bullsh××. Heck, you can "plan" on being loaded or unloaded at a specific time. But warehouses can totally screw that up. Great video though. Be safe.

Just getting used to the box. Not a real issue as I'm flat deck, so I have very little Appt times. . I could care less. All it changed was the extra time you slipped into a day. As I see it now, I just say to Dispatch.( I'll take it, but I cant do it at that time, They will have to wait till tommorrow, Or Im on rollover I'll get there when I get there. And many other thing that I know make Dispatch pull there hair out.)

My favorite part of driving and getting to a destination: A few minutes to dock and then a 45+ minute hike inside searching for a human. Then probably getting yelled at for nothing when you finally find one. Good times.

The other day I was delivering to Walmart, the lady at the desk asked for my number so she could call when they’re done unloading. She wrote down my number wrong and then yelled at me like it was my fault I didn’t get the phone call lol
@Razorfish
@Razorfish 4 жыл бұрын
@@AsTheWheelsTurn Because nobody is at the booth or answered the bell or answered the number you should call and it's like a ghost town inside a huge warehouse. After a half hour you can't take it anymore and go searching (when you know you shouldn't). When you found them they yelled at you for walking around where you shouldn't be. On a good note they would probably fight you too if you chose that route. Pretty standard warehouse stuff.
