I Got Arrested Dumpster Diving?!?!

Ohh, it was going to be such a good day... Went out for some bottle picking, some scrapping, some dumpster diving, making a vloggy dumpster life video, you know! Well, I didn't make the effort to avoid the angry man, and he decided today was the day he would whip up a greasy steaming pile of rage justice. The police were called, some false accusations were made, and I found myself in handcuffs. I even went for a ride in the police car! In the end, I wasn't charged with any criminal offenses, but I do have some vehicle related fines to pay off now. And I didn't make any money!!!
Some folks are turds.
BUT MOST OF THEM AREN'T! A few of you have asked for a paypal link so you can help me out. I have to say, I wasn't sure how to feel at first. I talked it over with some more experienced youtubers and I've been told that if people want to help you, you should just accept it and be grateful. So here's the link:

PLEASE know that I DID NOT post this video with any hope of gaining sympathy, what happened was my responsibility and I never thought you might squad up and take it on yourselves to smooth out this unexpected roadblock. I've never felt so honored.
I really want to repeat though, I'm not asking for help, I'm just blown away that anybody wants to. I'm immensely grateful just for the thought. From the deepest corners of my heart, thank you. I'll work even harder to bring you the best videos I can come up with! And for those of you who stepped up, I'll find a cool way to thank you ;)

I just want to say thank you all for the love and support, you're the reason youtube is fun! I didn't publish this looking for sympathy, it's just a funny thing that happened and maybe something to be cautious of when you're out diving. A few people have suggested I make a paypal link or start a patreon because they feel this was unfair and want to help! It's difficult to know what to say, but I wrote a response in the description to the people who were asking. I'll be alright though, thanks for being here. Keep doing the thing ;)

To be fair, you were not really driving.. The car was parked. Here in US,, I don't think they can give u a ticket when the car is not actually being driven,, I could be wrong, but that was totally uncalled for, what they did.

The police officer needs to be suspended at a minimum. Those type of false accusations are very dangerous to a police department and have the potential to cost in lawsuits. No department wants individuals like that in their department.

Thank you! It was a pain, and I'm always sad to meet people like that. I met his old neighbor who goes to the same church as him, which just makes me more sad. I don't think we'll ever be friends, haha!

yea, go back just to show that they can't scare you off from collecting. Yes I learned about registration the hard way. It was my mom's car and she forgot. It was a fix it ticket and was cleared up, no problems.

defiantly should of called for a supervisor. after the weed allegation I would of told them get a warrant. Also I would file a report with internal affairs, because they were pushing there luck. Also I would not call a pair of wire snips B&E tools that was also a stretch. don't get me wrong I support police but some over step there power and need someone to put them back in there place.

I must have said "what the fuck?" 30 times during this video. Those cops were out of hand. Drug paraphernalia turns into "crumbs of pot in your center console". Which they hadn't searched. Insulting the messiness if your car, commenting on your plate, making fun of the name "Garnet". (Does anyone know a man named Garnet?) Harassment plain and simple. They are on the level of the angry man if you ask me. You kept your cool a whole lot better than I would have.

Idk about Canada but you have to give law enforcement permission to search your vehicle in the states, unless they have probable cause such as a K9 alerting on your vehicle, drugs/ open container that is clearly without a doubt visible, etc that shit really pissed me off buddy said “I think it would be easier for me to get it out for you” and the cops just not literally, but figuratively said “fuck you im goin in your shit whether you like it or not.” That’s terrible man I would’ve definitely sued the police department if this happened to me. And how do you need to show proof of insurance if you’re not behind the wheel of a vehicle? Sure, it’s my car but I’m not driving it right now so there’s no need to show insurance. I would’ve definitely had my day in court with them

@@wingstop7021 *Once a vehicle is being towed for impound, police must do a vehicle "inventory" which is just a work around for a search, because anything they find during the "inventory" that's illegal will be added charges.* * The other thing police do is ask you where something is in the vehicle, and once you tell them where it's at, it's used as implied consent to enterbthe vehicle, they'll like they can't find it while they're looking around in all enclosed places, that's why the answer should be "in my center counsel, (etc), and I don't give consent for anyone to enter my vehicle, to do so will be a violation of my rights, repeat it a few times especially if they're going through it anyways.*

What a mental mess of a day!!! 1.I think that female cop was dyslexic or just stupid - maybe she thought you said garret. 2. You are recycling the stuff you get from the TRASH bins that others didn't recycle. And you are reusing the things that are still useful or selling/donating them. 3. I have seen you pick up other people's messes that someone left in those alley ways in at LEAST 4 videos. Littering is against the law why don't they get those people? You are cleaning up THEIR roads and you don't even live right there. It's is even your motto! You rock!! Keep up the videos. PayPal could be a good idea!!

The world consists of many types of people. Fortunately, most are good natured. However, you happened to run into a few of the bad ones that day. For several years, I had a very bad neighbor. She called the cops on me many, many times when she heard a dog barking even though I did not have a dog. She also video taped many times as I worked in my yard doing landscaping hoping to catch me doing something. Thankfully, she divorced her husband (a very quiet & nice man) & moved somewhere else to ruin someone else's life. You have a good oulook on life & be greatful you don't live next door to those few folks in your video. Cheers!

Does a car really need to be insured to be parked?... I think these cops violated a lot of your rights. You could have avoided at least 1 of those tickets by just saying that you don't answer questions.

David Padilla. All cars have to be registered to be on Public streets. He got caught for not having his registration up to date. Then that's when they asked if he has insurance.. The Cops did nothing wrong.. Its against the law to have any motor Vehicle on the roads if there not registered. If he would of had his car up to date for registration nothing would of happened to him.

Oh man, that one officer was such a jerk. Profiling you from the get go! I can see paraphernalia in your car? weed dust and a plate? wow illegal to carry a plate in your car? Sorry mr officer have attitude much?!? I would have told him the weed dust is actually my crumbs from my toast B! you know cuz I illegally ate my toast in my car this morning! I understand the registration and insurance are your responsiblility like you stated but that is still no reason for them to treat you the way they did! props to you bro for keeping calm like you did! I was afraid they were going to find the tools you found and try to say you stole those but I know you had the footage of you pulling them out of the bin to prove where you got them. Sorry that one cop was such a DB! He could have handled that situation so differently.

I had to laugh when the cop asked you "What's with the go pro?" I've seen other youtubers in the same situation reply straight away, "It's for my channel, I'm on KZfaq." But when you said, "It's for my safety," well, you weren't fucking lying...LOL They could have been more professional too, without their sarcastic tone and attitude. You handled yourself quite well and I can tell from watching all your other videos too, that you have a good spirit & soul, which always comes through, even in this ugly situation. Oh man it's so stinking irritating what men with power will do on their bad days! It is comparable to when I was wrongfully arrested for taking a walk in the woods on public land! Eventually all charges were dropped but man I had a long walk that day in sandals, I didn't get home until 1 am! My dad got pulled over, wasn't speeding or anything, they saw a glass pop bottle and thought he had poured alcohol into it and made him go through the breathalyzer test and everything. You did a great job staying calm. I wonder what they would have done if you had your proof of insurance!

wow...two videos in a row where you are profiled. Talk about a judgemental society. If only those people who have hot heads would just see your videos then maybe they could see their behaviors in realtime...maybe they would think twice on how they approach situations...especially that one police officer. I know it was a psychological bs part of the job he was pulling however at some point in time that kind of mindgame playing has got to come back on his and himself in some manner. Karma is a very real thing. Good job on keeping calm.

The thing about profiling though is it's a product of the other person's biases and preconceptions, so it's difficult to take it personally if you look at it objectively. That fluffy garbage aside though, some folks need to give their heads a shake ;)

Publicly talking about working on better public and police relations smh.People may not remember much about a person however they will remember how you made them feel.I still shake my head about what happened to simon ash moccasin. I bet he wont be taking any more acting jobs with the police force after that whole debacle.

I was so angry after watching this video...and I'm a big supporter of law enforcement! I had my wife watch it to see if I was over reacting. She got pissed too. Its a shame there has to be bad apples. On a positive note, your channel is awesome!

Thank you! And yeah, I was surprised and stunned with their approach. I figured there must be some infraction they needed to go over, but accusing me of some fiction about drugs to justify a search? That was way out of left field. I still support our officers but they had no reason to pull that.

I love dumpster diving. GOD has blessed me with many things. It helps when you do not get enough on your social security and food stamps. The food I get helps cause the food stamp office must think I am a scam artist and will Not give me more than $39 a month, which is crazy. I need to feed my family and my 2 Labradors. I do it for them, I love my dogs, when it is hard to get dog food like it is, dumpster diving helps to feed them, me and my family. It is great to save items from a dumpster, its some employees, cops or passer byes that create trouble for us divers, yet I push on and keep diving! Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!

you are so right! It doesn't matter who you are or what you are suspected of. Canadian police are on a mission to issue as many tickets as they possibly can. And yes, they are hostile, try to provoke you and have no problem lying and lying. I couldn't believe it until I went through something similar.

I watched your video because similar thing happened to me. I used to check out dumpsters after work as a night nurse, mostly at apartments. one apartment I think a guy was territorial about his dumpsters so he called the cops telling them I was searching for personal papers etc... i had the same issue 2 years ago but i had my missus's birthday present in the car so had to get train home while carrying a giant massaging armchair and a suitcase then travel back there which was 35 miles 3 days later

Just watched this with Kelaeno, and she knew there is Garnet is in Steven Universe. Don't miss the cowtown popo at all. Carrying wire snips helps people do b&e's? So does a brick. Yeah, i was pulled over for having my old plates on my new car. That was fun. Didnt get it towed thank goodness, as i had proof of ownership. Great vid.

Definitely an illegal search. The cops were Definitely rude it seemed but the issue is any person can be a threat so it is hard to tell the difference. Just saw a video of a person overdosing on a greyhound bus and paramedics saved his life with narcan. Police were investigating him and he pulls a gun and starts shooting killing the paramedic that saved his life. It was insane. A call for medical attention turns into a shootout.

Yearly Vehicle Registration is like Property Taxes. The STATE owns the property, they only allow you to THINK you own them, and instead, you are MERELY PAYING YEARLY RENT to stay or have access to THEIR property.

You can no longer dumpster dive in a couple situations. Trash could have PFI/PCI or medical information, and there is sufficient notice posted on the container or the storage area of the container. You have never been able to break into a locked container. These laws changed about 6 years ago for PCI and with HIPAA for medical information. There are also federal laws against going into trash for the express purpose of violating privacy laws or trash diving for PC password. Though the later you obviously are not violating. Also , most laws against dumpster diving laws are state and local.

I love how they just belittled you for everything. Even eating in your car. Giving you crap for the plate in your car. My God, I'm glad you recorded it. Then they knew you had weed in the car but haven't searched it yet. So pretty much if you don't act normal to their standards you are everything they say you are. At least the one officer let it be known he eats at home.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, some ppl really suck and cops are the most stupidest people these days, like they really abuse their power, they know you had no weed "dust" or whatever they said, I'm glad you got your car back, and everything was ok.
