How I went from someone who absolutely despised running to someone that runs marathons. In this video I introduce my new series called "Building to Two Fifty" where I will document my training for the Eugene Marathon on April 28th.
Thank you all so much for watching!

I’m a very competitive person, I run to compete against myself! Give me a sense of purpose, to always be better than my previous self, to set and beat a goal! It fuels my inner competition with myself.

"The world is noisy, but when I run it's silent" captures what I love about running so well.. Thank you for this video, I was able to recognize so many things that I love about running and that make me go the extra miles and put in all the work with a lot of pleasure.. Good luck chasing your new goal!

I started running and didn't tell anyone, I wanted it to truly be me vs me because that is the hardest challenge to overcome- no one giving you advice, keeping you accountable and cheering you up. Good job with what you have achieved, we are all a part of a group that shares knowledge on why it's important, I hope everyone gets to experience it at some point❤

You genuinely inspired me to start running and not to sound dramatic but it has completely changed my life. It has done wonders for my mental health. I was always a terrible runner but just as you said, running is my time to think and it pushes me to be consistent and disciplined in a good way. Thank you for sharing your videos with us!! Learned so many tips from you too!!

Thank you for this video. I am a 61 year old so probably not your average viewer. After a lifetime of being overweight, a few years ago I decided to do something about it and lost over 110 lbs. Since then I have been working on my fitness and recently decided to try running. I have set myself a goal of running a 5km park run without stopping and without walking this year. I have managed to run 5km on the treadmill a number of times and I ran a 5km outside just the once. My pace would be laughable to most but from where I have come, I am really pleased. Your video has inspired me to keep pushing and improve myself, even at my age.

I want to thank you for your yt shorts, it may appear meaningless but they really have an impact in my life. As a teen I’ve always been chubby and i didn’t like my body, but i did love eating a lot. I started running 2-3 years ago to stay in shape but was nothing serious, and i could not see many results. Then one day youtube recommended me your shorts about what you eat in a day and thought, jesus christ this guy eats a lot and look at his body, and they really motivated me to keep running. As a result i can say 2023 was the year of my rebirth: i don’t run marathons but i improved my running, i can sustain long distances, my bode changed and i now finally am more confident and more important i can now regulate my diet better, and all thanks to a rabdom guy on yt who shares the shit ton of food he eats. Thank you, and please don’t stop doing these, they really helped me.

I used to hate running too, I was in the military and hated those stressful morning runs lol. But once I got out after a couple of years I just got a weird desire to start to try running, and actually started to love it. It’s one of the most beautiful, simple things you can do. Yes you need technique, and ways of going about it but there’s something so beautiful about just putting one foot in front of the other. Keeping your head forward, and going ahead.

It’s crazy. I’ve been watching your content for a while. I also played soccer my entire life but my career ended senior year following an injury. Pretty much identical to what you did I started running, and joined track spring of senior year. I made state in the 800 meter and 1600 mete, but after the season was over, felt empty. I continued running, but felt as though it had no purpose anymore. I came across your content for the chicago marathon and because of you I applied for 2024 and got in. I’ll be training for a sub 3 just like you did. You have no idea how much your content has changed me. Love you Nico ❤

I've always had a rough relationship with running. I have asthma, which has always made running harder for me. I love soccer and played my whole life, but got two severe concussions in high school and was never the same again. I deal with chronic headache pain and prolonged concussion symptoms. I got really down on myself, was always comparing myself to others, and had very negative self-talk and low self-esteem. I've grown so much mentally and physically since my concussions and want to embrace running as a tool for personal growth. I'm inspired by your mentality and how the consistency and not being too hard on yourself brought you to reach new levels of success. I enjoyed your video and wish you the best for your journey!

I totally resonate with this! I'm 42 and I've been an athlete my entire life. I grew up playing soccer, hockey (I was the only girl on my high school team), basketball, softball, and even tennis my junior and senior years of high school; however, I also always used to HATE running. I still did it occasionally to stay fit and in shape, but I wasn't always super consistent. Almost 2 years ago, my husband (who I had been with for a total of 22 years - ever since I was only 18) passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly from sepsis as a result of a bad infection. After being in a total funk for several months after his passing, I REALLY got into both running and weight training. My best friend had the idea that we should join the gym, so we did, and we've now been going 4-5 days per week consistently for the past 19 months and I go HARD. I fell in love with it. I run about 30-35 miles per week (both treadmill and outdoors) and I do about 4-5 hours of weight training per week and I'm now in even better shape than I was in my teens and 20s! Running and lifting have really become my outlet over these last couple of years and I guess you could kind of say that I'm addicted. I've also been dating an amazing guy for a little over a year now who is also into fitness and he really inspires and motivates me to keep going. My life is better than ever. I'd go absolutely insane if I didn't have running in my life! I'm currently training for my second full marathon this fall and I can't wait!

I love setting, striving for, and smashing new running goals. Nothing feels quite as gratifying as reaching the finish line after months of painful training. I loved the video; it felt very cinematic. Good work! 😁👍
