Thank you for this video. My husband is atheist (raised Catholic) and I am a practicing Catholic. God has put it in both of our hearts to adopt (it was one of the first conversations we had when we met). We haven't been able to conceive, which further validates this feeling that adoption is what God truly wants for us. Our parenting classes begin next week, and we can't be more excited. We would love to adopt four children, but we would be thrilled with even one. God is so good.

I’m a foster parent and just welcomed a teen girl to my home. I don’t know if, or when, I will be called to adopt from foster care, but I am licensed for both straight foster care and foster-to-adopt. If any of my foster children end up needing an adoptive home (decided by a judge, not me!!!) I will be that person. Thank you for shining a light on adoption and especially special needs adoption.

Oh Ashley, its so good to hear from you and it has made my day to see you all, especially the two munchkins as they are they are now known in my family. I introduced my grandchildren (5 and 3) to them and now they ask about Issy and Mika every time they come. They love to see them in the snow and swimming pool. The 3 year old says " I talk to them through my heart" ❤ You make me feel uncomfortable when you talk about adopting. I have enough love in my heart for a houseful but my husband has pulmonary fibrosis (an irreversible condition) and I am his carer. I am 60 years old and would love to be part of the adoption commumity in some way. Maybe i could just send funds but i would love to send the girls aaron wool jumpers scarfs and hats for winter. It is amazingly warm, and i dont think ypu get it there. Do you have a PO box number ? Xx

Your channel reminds me of A Charming Abode (also a christian mother). She has an additional channel called Living With Dementia because her Harvard Educated Veteran husband who is in his 40s has early onset dementia. So she has her channel where she does the Home Decor and Home Entertainment advice and another one spun off for her Husband, talking about Dementia. I think you will like her channel so I am recommending it as you remind me of her. She was an RN and she has had to leave her job to be her husband's full time caregiver. Anyway, you will like her channel and it's cool to have more than one thing to talk about. :)

Your family is so amazing. I love watching all the milestones your children have achieved, Keeps me wanting to be a part of your loving family. Both of my children are adopted , not internationally, but domestic. I always wanted to adopt more, but life circumstances prevented us from doing so. I saw that Isabella is walking guided by you. I saw a youtube video for blind children who have used a walker /cane to navigate. Do you think this would work for Isabella.? Its amazing to see these blind toddlers navigate around the house.

It is not that easy, it is so incredibly expensive, it is like buying a child in my opinion. and also, not in every country can you raise funds for your personal wish to adopt, people would not give you anything. i wanted to adopt 10 years ago, but it it was impossible to pay that amount of money.
@TheFeltsFamily
@TheFeltsFamily Жыл бұрын
I never said it would be easy, nor did the Lord ever say it would be easy for us to die to self and follow Him daily. If adoption is "like buying a child" then why would you have considered adoption 10 years ago? The money needed to fund an adoption goes to different government entities, the adoption agencies, and social workers etc.--so that they can do their job and make sure all adoptions are ethical. We did not have a penny saved to fund our adoptions(almost 4 of them now) but the Lord has provided every penny we need. So, yes, there is a way.

❤Hi Ashley, I don't comment on videos very often cause I'm a bit shy lol but I just feel so called to comment this time. I love watching your videos and hearing you discuss adoption and The Lord. I have always been called to adopt since I was a child and hope and pray that I can in the future (my husband wants to have biological kids first, which I feel like is fair). Sometimes I feel so discouraged and frustrated with everyone around me because they are always telling me I'm wrong for wanting to adopt. I have such a hard time explaining that it's not just that "I want" to adopt, it's that I believe it is my calling/purpose from The Lord. Any advice on how to explain this to people? Ps sorry this comment is kinda long😂

I forgot to respond to ya when I read this a few days ago! Sorry! So, in simple terms. It's not for them to understand or agree with when your family is making life changing decisions. Sure, it would be wonderful to have their support, but don't let the lack of support affect you. Many people don't get the gravity of adoption or the impact it has on an orphan's life until they see it. They haven't been exposed to what it looks like and what orphan's actually live day in and day out. It may be YOUR story that helps soften their hearts. Stay the course. Go where God is leading YOUR family and do not hold any weight in other's opinions. I know this is easier said than done. However, you, giving a child a forever family is far GREATER of importance than the opinions of others. ;) I ditto what my friend suggested-- watching documentaries is very helpful and exposing them to the orphan crisis. Hope that helps!

Hey girl! I understand what you are saying. I think what you are experiencing is definetely something many Christians face. A feeling of being unworthy of HIs love, grace, and mercy. And the fact is--we are unworthy and there isn't anything that we can do to earn the gifts He has for us. It's only through the blood of Christ. Also, sounds as though you are still dealing with shame and that's right where satan would like to keep you. Because as long as you stay stuck in the shame--you can't fully experience the fullness of God. I would encourage you to go read Chapter 5 in Romans. ;) Thanks for sharing!
@TheFeltsFamily
@TheFeltsFamily Жыл бұрын
To you and any other feeling unworthy, the very fact you recognize your unworthiness is evidence in and of itself that Christ is working in you. All of us are unworthy and fall short in pleasing God/our father, yet it is not our own rightness (righteousness) for which we are ultimately judged. The Apostle Paul spent years killing those who would later become his bothers/sisters in eternity, and he struggled with the weightiness of that and said, “I worked hard and killed men and women who believed as I believe today. I put them in chains and sent them to prison” (Acts 22:4), and yet “Christ Jesus came into this world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief” (1 Timothy 1:15). Paul came to understand this world had nothing for him, and his judgment was not based on Paul, but on where his faith was placed (on the works of the law or on Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone of our faith). “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as RUBBISH, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that DEPENDS ON FAITH.” (Philippians 3:8-9) Your worth, in God’s eyes, is not based on you, but the price He paid for you. Once you become His child, he judges you through the eyes of the Son (Jesus Christ) and He rejoices when you return from your rebelliousness from/to him. This is what repentance is! Me going my own way, rebelling against a Holy God who has allowed me the very breath in my lungs, and me returning the favor by spitting in his face; believing my ways are better than His. Then, His shining a light into my darkened soul and illuminating the truth, which I have been trying to ignore my whole life, and me having a change of mind. Me going from the darkness of my own ways (SIN), to the illuminated path He has always purposed for me, so that HE gets glory for the display of His greatness and mercy toward us, His creation. That is the purpose for the parable, in Luke 15:11-32, of the prodigal son. We can’t earn our salvation or His love, it simply flows from who He is (our father) to those whom He calls children. The question then for each, and everyone, that calls themselves “Christian” is this, “Am I really His child?” Scripture tells us to test ourselves, to see if we are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). How? Compare yourselves to His words. Are you following Him or self (Matthew 16:24)? Do you love Him, and if so, is there evidence of that love displayed by your obedience to him (John 14:15)? And one of the biggest things is this: “Does He correct you when you disobey (Proverbs 3:12) (Hebrews 12:6-8)? Immature children hate discipline, but any child left to their own devices yearns (even if subconsciously) to be given boundaries and then disciplined for disobedience. It is one of the ways we come to know we are His children. Those who are free to go their own way, and enjoy the temporary rewards of their sin, are fatherless and aren’t even aware of what it is they are in need. Follow Him, and know that it doesn’t depend on whether we can be perfect children, but that we are HIS CHILDREN. Know Him and his greatness, and it gives you an unshakeable confidence that no longer needs confidence in our own works, but simply in HIS ultimate and final work! -Stan Felts

@@TheFeltsFamily Stan and Ashley firstly thank you so very very much for taking the time to reply and to reply so fully, you were spot on about the shame that I feel for turning away and then not feeling worthy to come back, satan has me right where he wants me….drowning in shame. I will read what you recommended and I think I also need to spend more time reading what the bible says rather than just listening to my own off kilter answers. Thank you once again, you have no idea how much that helped.kindest regards from the U.K.

Jesus told a story about a prodigal son who left his father’s house to go live his life loving money and other things. Eventually, the son ran all out of money and found himself to be in a really terrible spot. He began to think of his father and how much better life would be back at his father’s house. He then went back to his father after he had lived a life of shameful things. He thought his father would not accept him….But, he not only accepted him, the father RAN to meet him and threw his arms around him loving and welcoming him home!!! Jesus told this story as an illustration of what God the Father does for us (those who are his children). We should never leave Him. But, if you have lost your way, He longs to welcome you back with love and remove your shame from you just as the father in the story did when he welcomed his son and removed his old clothes to give him new and beautiful clothing to cover him! PLEASE read this wonderful piece of scripture showing the acceptance of sinners who turn away from their wickedness and into the loving arms of the Almighty! ❤ You can find it in the Bible: Luke 15:11-32
