I live in Toronto and I lived in Toronto when Meghan lived here. I can tell you that there aren't many paparazzi based here. We have a large film and television production industry in the city (hence why Meghan was living here) and we get many much, much more famous people living here for months at a time and they aren't swarmed by paparazzi because they just aren't here. Celebrities in Toronto are truly able to go about pretty normal lives while living here. For example, Rachel McAdams owns a house here and is known to take the streetcar and no one bothers her. The only time of year where there are some paparazzi in the city is about two weeks in September during the Toronto International Film Festival. Hordes of celebrities come up to premiere their films and paparazzi fly up as well. However, they are mostly found on red carpets and camped out in front of luxury hotels, so this idea of photographers chasing Meghan down Toronto highways is pretty ridiculous.

Can we start a running account of how many times Harry has found his wife sobbing on the floor? I don't know about anyone else, but I've been on the floor sobbing exactly 0 times in my adult life. Loving your review of the book!

Why didn’t the paparazzi sell the photos they took of her at the checkout line, running down the street, sobbing in front of the palace gates. A running and/or sobbing celebrity is like red meat to the tabloids. They pay a fortune for them.

Harry was on eggshells with her from day one. My ex-husband was/is just like MM. I remember my first real 'transgression ' which was staying behind after work to have drinks with my work friends. In those years, I worked when he slept and I slept when he worked and we had the days together. I had no idea that I'd done anything wrong but he was fuming mad, left for work, angry and aggressive and I was given the silent treatment for a week, maybe more. From then on I was always nervous and would ask if it was ok for me to socialize without him and he'd reply 'of course ' like I was insane for asking permission. These people are evil regardless of their intention.

If Diana was abused by a therapist, she had an ethical obligation to report them to their licensing board to protect other patients. Was she so self-centered that she would have taken no action in response to abuse?

What took Diana's life was a drunken driver, no seatbelt and speeding into a tunnel. She played the media, gave them notice, then was angry, from all the possible sources I have, this is very much her own doing. The paps could only have taken photos of her, if they hade caught up with the car, and they could have used a car with darker windows. Listening in on phones is of course a heinous, and criminal thing to do, but that happened to Charles as well. But as you say, Meghan and Harry have nothing, without the drama. They both need help, I'm truly worried about them and their children.

Compton is in LA, and most Brits were unfamiliar with it, besides the article was written by an American...so. Also it took less than a week from Camilla Tomini published that they were together, till Harry demanded that his PR department tell the press that she was racially profiled, and he wanted her compared to Diana, in spite of Mr. Knauf telling them that the Diana comparison may be was a bit OTT. She is fooling no one but Harry.

I love the content here how she’s always staring dagger’s jealous of beautiful Kate, and Diana’s engagement ring on her finger, a lot of people speculate she was really after William, if you watch some clips she’s staring all dreamy at him, he never looks back in her ne clip and plays with his scarf for 5 minutes so he doesn’t have to walk beside her and Kate gets finished talking to people to come save him. Also one of her Suits coworkers said she was living with another man when she started dating Harry, and the time overlaps, and she famously said “The better you lay the carpet, the more you can walk on it (men)”

Thank you for sparing me buying this book. I have an offbeat suggestion to keep in mind. It’s called FRANCES, by Diana’s mom. It’s a memoir of how she lost her kids in divorce. She had an affair and left Diana’s father, an Earl, who obviously had a lot more power and the English courts favored the men and easily made women to be crazy and scandalous in 60s/70s. My mom had it years ago. Frances outlived her youngest daughter and wrote after her death. I think it would be another perspective on how no aspect of this family is rosy and perfect. It’s easy to blame the royals. Frances couldn’t do that b/c she was seen as abandoning her children. When really they were kept from her. And Earl Spencer moved a step mom in pretty quick. But a lot more details than just what I’ve said. Forgive me for forgetting her last name. She remarried or used maiden name. Thx again. You are a great orator and analyst. Common sense is the best.

It's seems pretty clear to me that Harry views Meg as Diana 2.0. At the beginning of the book, his mother was mentioned in every other paragraph. Now that Meg has entered the picture, he hardly mentions her at all except to compare her to Meg. Harry sounds like a dolt. Pap's weren't following Meg around, and few people even knew who she was until the engagement was announced. Had she been hounded by the press, then where are all the pics and stories?

The crazy scenario is that he allows this woman to make him feel small all because he is too obsessed to understand she is not the type that is worth keeping, as she keeps degrading him! He hates the fact that people are calling her out for dragging him down, and he wants to correct that narrative but he continues to prove everyone’s point when he is encouraged to do a lot of stupid things. That is why they continually keep trying to revamp their brand because they know it’s not strong enough to convince the shrewd part of society that has made some excellent points. Their whole relationship is a sham.

I find the "did you maybe hear adults talk like that to each other when you were a child?" Highly strange. I don't know anyone whose first response to a terrible treatment is to a) walk away and b) then IMMEDIATELY in the first sentences of the conversation that follows then tie the incident to the childhood of a 30+ year old, and in a way that creates ambiguity towards responsibility. If she'd have first asked: "do you even respect me?" Or "is that part of the British culture, to treat people like that?" Or whatever, I would understand her questioning then turning to his childhood after. But there's no reason to bring up the childhood so early in the clearing conversation because someone's childhood is no excuse for treating others badly anyway (esp not if you're 30+ and have relationship experience) and also, the first point of discussion for things like this is usually someone's behavior and making peace again (or ending the relationship). Not psychoanalyzing in a way that allows the other person to potentially shift the responsibility. I'm really wondering if she wanted to use the incident to tell him what a terrible childhood he had and how his family sucked. It just doesn't make sense to me why else she'd have brought his childhood up this early.

I think William issued one statement after 2007 but it wasn't crazy. He also provided Catherine and her family with a palace resource to help them according to one biography.

Meghan is the Queen of Drama Queens. When Harry is not around, she makes up scenarios wherein she is being targeted in order to get him in line. In Canada, I think she was setting him up to think she needed his protection and the way to do that is to make a commitment.

They bring up the “racism” of the Daily Mail (it came from an American newspaper) and the “exotic blood” yet I heard both those articles intended to be ‘rags to riches’ stories. They were looking for reasons to be insulted

There were very few stories that could be considered the slightest bit racist. The vast majority of the UK press and people were excited about her. In Courtiers, Low says Harold's staff was harranged by him to push back at the press long before M. I'm pretty sure the only time there were battling house holds is when Charles and Diana were separated Charles hired some one to help combat the war Diana had waged and try and rehabilitate Charles but he went to far and was let go, according to Lady C. Brit here! 👋🇬🇧 I don't read newspapers so I can't comment on what the headlines were at the time. (Like you said, it's just trash mags anyway). What I do know is how (my area of the country at least) felt here 'down on the ground' and my experience of it was that people were happy and excited at the thought of Harry and Meghan (getting married). We all looked forward to and welcomed it 🎉🎊 We were genuinely happy until the cracks started to show. And sadly, our perception of them (especially after slating our Royal Family and us, the People) has deteriorated ever since 😕

The Royal Family has professional security far beyond personal bodyguards. Professional security can't function without up-to-date threat assessments. These threat-assessments are based on information from local, national and international law enforcement as well as national and international intelligence agencies and non-governmental sources such as civilian sources, the news media and cooperating private/corporate security organizations. Since Harry was going to Toronto, his professional security would have been in touch with the Toronto police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Defense intelligence agencies as well as Interpol and Commonwealth intelligence agencies. Why didn't Charles or the bodyguards ever urge that the boys receive a detailed, age-appropriate briefing on the death of their mother--perhaps a year after her death and then again about 10 years later as adults? Since Harry was clearly paranoid about Meghan, why did they not urge him to get a detailed threat-assessment briefing about her? Given his beliefs, if the threat-assessment did not match his expectations, he probably would not have believed it.

You could see that everyone else had too and took covert glances. No one approached him. No one took a photo. I could quote other instances. It's just a British thing

I'm actually stunned, the manipulation was off the charts. He comes off as so needy and that, IMO, is how she got him.
