Ernie Kovacs and Edie Adams move in next door to the Ricardo's and Lucy can't stop torturing Ernie every time she's in his presence.
I Love Lucy is an American television sitcom starring Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. The black-and-white series originally ran from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957, on CBS. All 180 episodes aired on Mondays.
In total 180 episodes of I Love Lucy were produced, plus a pilot episode. The pilot, which was not made for broadcast and did not air as part of the show's original run, is generally not counted as one of the episodes and therefore listed separately for reference. It is, however, available on DVD and Blu-ray releases of the first season. Following I Love Lucy, a further 13 one hour-long episodes were produced under the title of The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show (later and more commonly known in syndication as The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour) with the same cast and later packaged as seasons 7, 8 & 9 under the I Love Lucy series.

This episode was the end of an era! The "First Power Couple" Desilu Productions. It's so sad that Lucy and Desi were divorcing the next day! After being together 20 years. Lucy had had enough of his temper tantrums! His booze and broads didn't help their relationship. Maybe it was their constant togetherness! There is no time to miss each other. She finally couldn't take it any more after all of those years together! They did make beautiful music together, on screen, but off screen was a disaster! 😢 This was still one of my favorite shows as a child with re-runs!🎬❤️🎬

Fyi Desi arnaz directed this episode which was the series finale. And the next day Lucille ball filed for divorce from Desi. And if you watch the last scene it's when Ricky and Lucy kiss. Looks like Desi wanted his last kiss cuz he knew it was gonna be the end of their marriage. So sad.

Aww yes I agree it was sad. But Lucy did say on the Johnny Carson show years ago that she married a loser. Desi and Lucy sure worked well with each other on screen but it was Desi's cheating way's that brought the marriage to a halt. I don't blame Lucy for that part.
@maryammure5151
@maryammure5151 Жыл бұрын
@@paulatristan8189 it wasn't just his cheating, it was also his drinking. He would also get violent and yell when he was drunk. And he would do it alot infront of their children. @@paulatristan8189 I think it was the Barbara walters interview not Johnny Carson show she said she married a loser. And girl what is more pathetic Desi said he didn't cheat on Lucy with broads it was hookers he only slept with. Like that's just nasty. I mean hookers who sleep with other men. And then he comes home and sleeps with his wife. Ewwww.

In early January 1962, Lucy attended a social gathering, and Ernie Kovacs was among the attending guests. Mr. Kovacs left in the early morning hours, and his car skidded out of control, on a cold and frosty Los Angeles street. Sadly, the wonderful comic died instantly. His wife, the lovely Edie Adams, carried on as best she could, but In a cruel twist of fate, one of their daughters was also killed in a car wreck in the early 1980's. I recall an "old time" Hollywood actress once saying that, they ("the stars") enjoyed "mink coats and limousines," but were certainly not immune to "drudgery and heartache." RIP to all concerned - they have most certainly found God's peace.

But do you know why his car skidded out of control? He was tying to light a cigar and lost control of the steering and hit a telephone pole. Of course, it didn't help matters any that he was driving a Chevrolet Corvair. Those things were death traps!

At 1:01 when Ethel pours coffee for everyone you can see she doesn’t put anything in the cups. Their acting and use of props was so professional that you don’t notice unless you look closely.

We love Lucy's line: "Here you are Fritz". 1:06 We had to wait until the end of the series to hear "Fred Mertz" called "Fritz." Was "Fritz" the nickname Lucy had for WIlliam Frawley throughout the run of the show?

Vivian Vance insisted that in this "new" Lucy show (The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour) that she not appear "frumpy," as she had for the last several years on "I Love Lucy." Vivian was allowed to appear with a more stylish and "relaxed look." Who could blame her? She was, in fact, younger than Lucille Ball, and wanted to show her more attractive self.

@@rivaridge7211 Vivian Vance was 2 years older than Lucille Ball. Also, the dynamic of the Fabulous Four, Lucy, Desi, Vivian and Bill Frawley made the ILL show the wonderful amazing show it was. Vance who was hired last - was supposed to be the husband of Frawley not his daughter, and the Mertze's were supposed to be a middle aged, lower income couple.

You know i always have been a fan of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and a fan of i love lucy ever since I was a child and up until now. And one thing I noticed is that people always have to bring up Desi's infedelites and his alcoholism yes he was wrong for what he did to lucy but why years later especially in today's generation people feel like they have a right to judge this man none of you aren't perfect and sunshine and rainbows either.
@jsciarri

That's probably because the majority of the people that have watched the show are left leaning women that think men dominate over them even to this day. This is extremely obvious on nearly all Lucille Ball videos in here where someone has to being that up every single time. What Desi did was terrible and everybody in the world already knows this, but many people also seem to forget how innovative and gifted Desi was as well. He pretty much came to this country with nothing and turned it into Desilu Studios and further pushing Lucy into stardom. Not enough credit is given to him and that still goes today. Lucille Ball isn't actually an angel itself and was completely a polar opposite of Lucy Ricardo in real life. Many actors and actresses despised working with her because of her bossy attitude all the time, and was also extremely rude to the public later on in life. People also like to forget this when talking about Ball's life as well but that's the world we live in.

A lot of the hour-longs ended up not really being completely or at all filmed in front of the cast’s usual live audiences. That really extra interrupted the usual audience-cast-comedy vibe these four and their writers’ storylines were famous for conjuring up. Agree this no-audience-filmed last entry magnified that “off” vibe. Note that Lucy was preparing to start filming “The Facts Of Life” with Bob Hope soon, which Desilu purchased to produce for her, and she’s sporting in this episode the wig-do she’d wear in that coming film. ❤

This episode was made in 1960. Assuming Kovacs limousine was a late model, either a 1959 or 1960 it would actually be one of the rarest Lincoln Continentals ever made (along with the Continental town car). Only 83 limousines from those 2 years are in existence today which means they would cost a fortune if one went up for sale.
