So sorry you are facing all this Jessica, my heart and love goes out to you. I know it isn't easy but continue to focus on your health promoting diet, try to stay positive and don't get bogged down in all the unknowns, emotions play a huge role in outcomes. We all should live from day to day... life is 100% fatal for all of us, and none of us know when, but I think just being diagnosed sets us up with morbid anticipation of that inevitable. Not having surgery is not cause to lose hope either, it can also be a blessing in disguise. As I'm sure you know, surgery also comes with myriad risks , stress, and complications, especially when you are already compromised from chemo, and can even accelerate the spread. I know how devastated you feel and how badly you want to be "rescued", but your fate doesn't just lie in the hands of the equally uncertain medical industry. Keep your chin up, don't lose hope, and find a good support group to hold your hand and help you navigate your own best course.

Do your drs think that your liver has cancer? If so, have you looked into the HAI pump or radiation to your liver Mets? Have they done genomics on your cancer?

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just over a year ago. I have been involved with NOCC (National Ovarian Cancer Coalition) and OCRA (Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance) and they have been very helpful. NOCC has monthly support group online-we’d love to have you with us for one! Remember that roller coasters unexpectedly go UP, too! Take care! Hugs!

As a breast and ovarian cancer survivor, I understand what you mean about thinking this might be the last time you do something, trying to make every minute count, etc. You're right - it puts a lot of pressure on you. It's exhausting. Chemo and the flu...kind of hard to be festive, I think. Hope you get some answers and clarity about your next steps very soon. Remember - there are so many people thinking about you and praying for you. Allow yourself to feel all that love and positive energy. We're all here for you.❤️

Breast cancer survivor here, please let go the image you have in your head of the "cancer fighter" and just be yourself. It's so hard to go through everything AND feel like you have to be an inspiration all the time. Also there's no shame in taking meds to sleep, the anxiety of that diagnosis is a LOT to deal with 💕💕💕 sending lots of hugs and I wish I could send extra white blood cells too 😂 (my numbers were always so low!)

Jessica, I hope that these updates can be like support groups for you. I think you have the right idea to advocate for yourself. I don't think you will make a wrong decision. After talking to the various doctors, you will make the decision that is right for you. You are totally entitled to your feelings about this. Sadly, you have earned them. I think there is a whole bunch of us "Krocks" who really feel like we are going down this path with you. Thank you so much for this update. I do worry about you and Brian if I do not hear from you for awhile. Yes, I would have worried about how you made it through this surgery that I knew had been tentatively scheduled for the 29th. So sorry to hear about the unease that the cancellation has caused and that flu loaded extra stress on both of you at a time when they already have their fill... that's tough however you look at it. If I may add one thing to everyone's general good wishes to you both for 2023, I'd say don't put too much additional pressure on yourselves with your plant based diet. If it helps generally, then yes of course, but stressful times like this need huge areas of leeway... whatever gets you through. When you're ready for 100% of all that, you'll both knock it out of the park, but if you falter... even for one day, one meal... be kind to yourselves. Don't let it become another thing to stress about. You're both so loved. Wishing you both (sorry Peef, you too!) a happy and healthy 2023 xx

If Mayo ever gets you down, I know they are big and fancy but their docs completely wrote off my son as hopeless (totally dif medical issue) and a local dr found him perfect solution and hes happy, healthy and lives on his own in a condo now. So nothing wrong with local sometimes 🥰🥰

The best gift you can give yourself this Christmas is grace. You're seizing every day just by living through them. Whether that is outside having an adventure with your family or spending an entire day in bed to give your body a break. A pause on surgery may be a blessing in disguise, only time will tell. Hi Jessica! You bring back memories of my own cancer journey. There are vulnerable and scary and helpless moments at times. But then you come back stronger than before. I was diagnosed with advanced stage 3 cancer. A surgeon canceled my first surgery like yours did. I didn’t have it until months later. I had follow up radiation that also was treatment for the bits they couldn’t remove surgically. (I had a spot on my sternum, behind my heart, that they said was not a good location to attempt removal). It’s been a year and a half of treatments. My check up appointments are further and further apart and no cancer in sight. They tell me I’m cured! I’m aware every day is a gift. The course of treatment was a zig zag, not a straight line, but I reached the finish line. You’ve just started, you’ll be fine. There is a lot of treatment options and talented doctors. 🥰

Hi Jessica (and Brian). You are so brave to be sharing your journey! I'm also dealing with cancer and can relate to your anxiety regarding potential treatments. My husband and I have been whole food plant-based eaters for two years now. There is a book (on Amazon) called "Eat to Beat Disease" by William W. Li, MD. Dr. Li has done a tremendous amount of cancer research related to how certain foods support the immune system. I have found this book to be extremely helpful. I'm currently receiving immunotherapy infusions and am in remission (different type of cancer). Please do your best to stay positive in order to attract positive energy! :-) Praying for you and wishing you all the best! xxxooo

I'm only part-way through... but why is surgery not happening? Drs don't think it's necessary? I don't think I've ever seen someone's cancer treatment so up in the air on how to treat it! Hope you get some answers and peace of mind soon. The confusion has gone on for too long! x

cancer treatment is not always clear cut. They're trying to figure out if cancer has spread to her liver -(because if so they can't remove the cancer anymore but then they switch treatment towards trying to slow down/stop it from spreading further or put it into remission)

Fuck the new year pressure in all honesty, I hate that shit and I dont like the idea of new years resolutions any year, because every year is the same old stuff, ups and downs. There is always hope and other options. When 1st line didn’t work for my son, we went to Hope For Cancer in Cancun and it was amazing and he became happy and lived his life again with health. I’m sending all my prayers and intentions for hope and a direction that feels like inspiration.

Praying sweetie! I do understand your sadness about Christmas, as I did my 1st round of chemotherapy for multiple meyloma the day before Christmas. We stayed away from people over Christmas, and that meant not having sons or granddaughter over. Cancer is o erwhelming. I’m much older than you. I’ve enjoyed raising my family…. Married nearly 50 years. Yet the uncertainty of an often incurable cancer is depressing no matter what age. I’m sorry you guys had the flu too. Praying that you find hope to hold onto. Big hugs your two. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate this very difficult time in your lives. My heart truly breaks for you and Josh at "Bois D'Arc Kiko goats" and everyone going through cancer. I started following both you and Josh at about the same time. I think you both have had about the same number of chemo treatments. 2022 has been one of the most challenging years I have been through in my 63 years on this earth. I thought I was going to loose my husband of 42 years he was so sick (not covid) and our 36 year old son had to have a valve replaced in his heart and it all started one year ago today when we had to say goodbye to our beloved 14 years old dog. It is hard sometime not to sink down that rabbit hole, pull the cover over your head and want the rest of the world to go way even if just for a short time.
