I’m now getting 20 miles per gallon on my 4Runner, how did I do it?

You are 100% correct sir, I had a Rav4 and driving at 65mph I was doing 34mpg. With the 4Runner I'm getting anywhere between 19mpg - 20mpg. Pretty good mileage for me since I usually get between 14 and 15 on a daily on my way to work.

Just got a runner, and I’ve noticed it loves that 60-65mph range. Not just economy, but just in general. For a port injected no-frills (reliable) Legacy powertrain, definitely seems like the way to go. Just don’t compare to modern cars. I have a newer Camry and do the same thing in it on state roads (27 is 65Mph). That thing (non hybrid) gets 45+ doing the same thing.

I have a 2023 4Runner LTD AWD, so far, I average 19.1 mpg at the pump over 28K miles. You're right though, that truck is really thirsty above 70mph, I did a trip from Central FL to NC and back, avg 75+ mph, got 17.5 mpg... 🥵 in town and I-4 traffic gets me 19-20 mpg. I have two sets of wheels and tires, the OE 20in and a 17in TRD pro wheel with KO2 package. That also makes a huge difference, about 2mpg for me less with the KO2. I kinda miss my 2016 Tacoma TRD OR, I got an average of 21.7 mpg over 109K miles.

Dude it’s getting 22 miles per gallon! I was also getting 14 miles per gallon. Seems like I’m making good time to I’ve traveled 158 miles so far and I’m going to do a calculation by dividing how many gallons my 4Runner takes right now.

I wish we could drive at 60mph. I agree it's safer and more comfortable. However, you know if you're on a motorcycle or in a car, everybody will be trying to run you off the road. People are rushing around to work and other places and just don't care.

Ive got a 21 4runner ORP and i basically get 20 to 23 on highway. I hand calc each tank. Tire pressure at 37 and coast as much as possible when you slow.

Same here from Huston to San Antonio. A lot of people just don’t care about fuel economy. It’s all about rushing to getting somewhere and they’re the ones crying about fuel economy and car problems

That’s very good. I still drive mostly city red light to red light and I’m getting 14 mpg. Of course everything is relative. I don’t drive that much. If I were to drive a lot more miles per month that would be quite expensive. It is what it is. The KO2 tires are much heavier than those stock Dunlops that came on it too. 😎

The cars a juggernaut. It loves to coast and roll. With some skill and keeping it at 70mph ( personally I'm not going slower than that) you can get solid 20 mpg average. That can quickly change to 14 tho if youre feeling speedy and want to burn rubber 😂

I need it JP, I’m on my way to North Carolina about 750 miles away to look at a 16 ft camper to travel in. I need good gas mileage going and I really need great gas mileage coming back if I buy the camper. It’s 3000lbs dry weight, not too bad but still…

I hope you are not doing 60 on the interstate. If you’re doing that, you’re causing problems for everyone, all to save 1mpg. A recent trip I did,1100 miles in a single day, you are looking at 4 more hours of driving if doing your speed. That is not worth 1mpg.

@@christopherdominguez845How else do you want me to put it? If you’re doing 60mph and doing it on the interstate where it’s 75, in some cases 85, you are impeding traffic and causing more safety issues. If you are driving 60mph and I am driving 75mph, how much longer would it take you to drive 1,100 miles than me? You driving 60 vs the actual speed limit does not have enough pros to outweigh the cons. And if you are that guy driving 60mph while everyone else is doing the speed limit, laws should be passed so those of us that are doing even remotely close to the speed limit can pit maneuver you off the road.

@@OrganicFoxesdriving 15mph under the speed limit is as dangerous as driving 15mph over. Not only are you impeding traffic, you are causing other drivers who are trying to get somewhere to become aggressive and drive in an unsafe manner.
