Hey community and Metal Complex! Thank you very much for checking out the Rosalinda! Quick story on the Rosalinda, this knife is in what Ray and I consider our "Makers Choice" series, a knife we wanted to put to market with some asthetics more similar to how the custom versions are built, rather than how we would approch this as a production knife. Things like the single thumb stud, sharpening choil and big beautiful ricasso. Also, the final touch is this knife is named after Ray's mother👌 The Rosalinda is still in production and is probably about 50 days out until the release of our third batch of this model. We are also dropping the "Linda" (Mini Rosalinda) prior to the Rosalinda drop. Just something to keep your eye open for! Thank you again for checking out our knives. The MBK Slayback flipper in full Ti and ZDP-189 was the first "premium" knife I ever bought. 2.5 years later, it's still one of my favorites.

The Rosalinda has one of the best actions of any knife in my collection. Beautiful aesthetics, cool blade steel, feels excellent in the hand- an incredible package for the money. I so lucky to pick one up off of the MBK site.

i just recently picked up a WE Esprit. Also a Ray Loconico design, pretty interesting comparison. I like the look a lot and the Esprit has been great so far!

A thought I had about the sharpening choil while you were talking, what if you took a round diamond file and a ceramic rod and made it into a sharpening serration? That might be the best of both worlds. You could sharpen to the heel of the edge but the serration/choil would still cut through material.

I think most of MBK's blades are in that zdp san mai blade and its AWESOME!! They make for some killer cutters!

Absolutely gorgeous, but I wish they would make it for lefties too. I understand that the mounting holes break up the lines, but dang.

Yeah, the knife world seems to have a blind spot for lefties that seems borderline pathological. Like, is it really that hard to make 10% of lots with the exact same design but just mirrored for people who aren’t right-handed? Is it really that hard? Or is it just that the knife community doesn’t want our money?

ZDP-189 is great to get super sharp, the downside is that it chips quickly.....

Nice looking blade. Kind of reminds me of Laconicos' We Knife Esprit just a bit longer and a bit narrower. I know you're a ZDP-189 fan, you gotta check out the Katsu ZK04. I said I'll never own another Chinese made knife, but a buddy of mine gifted me a katsu ZK04 and it is super sexy yet in a way, super scary. I say it's super scary because it's like a cleaver when unlocking and closing the blade. The blade literally has the smoothest and most drop shut action I've ever felt in a knife. Took a nice chunk of skin off my thumb the first time I went to close it because of how fast the blade dropped. I talk a lot of s**t on China in general, but the Katsu ZK04 seriously impressed me and the price is rather cheap Imo coming in at around $320 for the gold camo fat carbon with 17 layer ZDP-189 blade. The full titanium model (ZK01) is only $245.99. You can also get the it in full timascus (the ZK-T1) for $470 which Imo is insanely reasonable. There is other fat carbon models as well as a black stonewashed titanium handle version. They all look great, tbh which is something I would normally never say about a Chinese made knife. Lol

I am anti-choil on mid-size to large-size folding knives. I want the cutting edge to meet the plunge grind and I prefer to put the smile on the blade versus have anything there to muck up how it cuts. I also hate the fact that some of your potential cutting surface has now been relegated to either cosmetic enhancement or has been enlisted for "grip duty". That blows when you paid for all those MM of high end steel and heat treatment only to have part of it not being used for cutting and actually interfering with making a cut in most cases.

Idk, a large part of the appeal of CRK is the lifetime warranty. A PJ large Sebenza may be $200 more than this but I doubt you'll be able to mail this to the manufacturer in 15 years and have it returned looking brand new. I won't argue that their are certainly manufacturers that are on par from a quality standpoint these days, but that warranty is about as bulletproof as it gets.

@@floridaman727Buck Knives has entered the chat. Granted, the materials are basic. But send them a 110 you bought 40 years ago, they’ll make it look like the day you bought it. I think that’s a pretty good deal for a knife you paid around $60 for.

@@flapxjackson⁠absolutely! And leatherman will replace it for free! Ice sent them my MUT 3 times and they’ve replaced it every time. Once for rust and the other for a broken blade and they replace it for free

I love Ray Loconicco designs usually. The Ekko and Sokkoke are amazing (even if one is a god-awful liner-lock). This is just ugly and the blade grind is atrocious. Kunwu makes one decent kife (the Pulsar/XL) but sadly they dont make a model that isnt ugly AF and doesnt have trily horrid scales on it.

I don't know. In my opinion, the Knife looks like an unfinished prototype. The knife is for right-handed people only. I never understood this saving on tumb stud.The blade geometry is excellent, in the style of German and Scandinavian knives. I hope this is not the final version of the product.

I can agree on the single thumb stud being a b*ner killer; reverse flick is the preferable method for most enthusiasts, myself included. However, the idea that this looks like an unfinished prototype is hogwash. Ray Laconico has been making knives for over 20 years and his models are absolutely time tested designs that rarely teeter on unique or experimental, but always deliver with ergonomics and sleek, sexy lines. They're not for everyone, but considering his custom knives that he regularly uploads on instagram end up sold out before the photo even says "posted 1 minute ago", it's safe to say that his designs speak to a majority of knife guys and casual users alike.
