Yes!! The GNX is awesome car. They look like a car a grandma would be driving but faster than a Lamborghini.

I've driven a GNX, they were seriously quick for their era. They handled like you would expect, like a heavy brick on bicycle tires. Your rendition looked exactly like the one I drove, it had 2" drop spindles in the front and softer springs in the back. My buddy had to put a big AF sway bar on the rear and different bushings etc to help keep it planted under power. Great job on this one, you just need the turbo cover to make it look as great under the hood.

I've got no idea how you managed to choose one of my favorite cars from my favorite manufacturer to make in Beam (and one that it's been a dream of mine to someday recreate irl) but I'm seriously excited to drive it, especially as a boat tail Buick Riviera owner.

And it's pretty good that you made a video on how you made it, could help a few people, maybe even me (I tried making a mod like a year ago but I did something wrong so I just abandoned it, haha) Can't wait for the next mod :D Btw, if you need suggestions, maybe a 2000's minivan like a voyager or an old ford galaxy or something, or if not, maybe something like a Jaguar or smth. For the rear suspension, it would be WAY easier to use the LeGran Solid beam axle, since the Legran and the Wendover are quite similar Jbeam wise. Maybe that would help with the suspension issues

There is a pretty good free mod out there that I have for the Grand National/GNX’s platform cousin, the 80’s G body Cutlass Supreme. And that’s based on the RWD Bastion, and I couldn’t recommend it higher. That’s for the great content!

FWIW, "serialize" means convert an in-memory version of something (what the code uses internally) into something that's a string of things in order (thus "serial") that can be written to a file. So "deserialize" means converting data from a file back into the in-memory version that the code can use. Essentially, the error means "We read the file, but we can't understand it."

The irony of this, just a week or so ago I was looking for an actual GNX mod but only found automation cars, thanks heaps for this!

Great video ! There was, in the old WBIMP modpack, a lore friendly version called the LeGran Regional.

I wonder if the chassis is interfering with the suspension. That is an issue with lowered automation cars with solid rear axles. You have to move nodes up a bit. I had this issue for a truck I made for Super Touring Trucks where it would bounce and had no rear suspension travel. I had to move a37, a38, a41, a42 nodes up a bit for it to stop interfering. I got lucky where it only needed that. Someone else had to edit their Jbeam to fix this.

A serialized file, is an object in the application code, that has been written to a structured file, typically a JSON file. De-serialize is when an application reads the serialized file and converts it back into an object in the code. The error often means a JSON file (or similar markup file) has a typo in it. It expects a certain structure in the file, but meets an unexpected comma or something.

for the rear suspension bouncing go into the tuning section in the parts UI and you can tune the suspension

btw little tip, engine jbeams always have the same nodes and generally the same placement, you should be fine using a fwd engine jbeam in a rwd one, it doesnt change anything cuz the engine jbeam is a generic box

For your suspension bounce it's cause you need firm leaf springs but not to firm or it's bump stiffness will be hell ish I'd say

Regarding the belt and pulley going to the intake on the engine you wanted to use, my guess is that it was supposed to mimmick the superchargerd 3.8l buick v6 that came in a few fwd GM boats from the 90s..

This is very cool but I wonder if you could do something like a mid 90's or a 2000 Ford Ranger next because although it is a basic truck, I do really like the Ranger and it was one of the most reliable trucks ever made.

I think the rear suspension issue is caused by the wrong damper setup. If you can tune it, then more aggressive dampers that provide more damping should fix the bounce. Also the spring rate might be too high.

At 14:24 you can hit right click and select set origin to geometry or something like that. That makes it rotate around the middle of the mesh/object making it easier to rotate.

Some completely irrelevant information. When the Updat3d the engune in the early 1990s to the second generation of MPFI. they cut yhe deck height on the block by 1 inch, and removed the distributor. They also made a supercharged version for there performance versions from the early 90s until 2009

09:32 Loosely speaking (specially since I haven't looked up the dictionary definition, and just sort groked the meaning from seeing people use the term over time), "serialization" is when a program get stuff from it's memory and pack it all into like a string of bits or a json or something; sorta like converting from what it got spread out in RAM into a standard(ish) format so it can reload things later back to the same state; and so "deserialization" means reading back stuff that was packed before, and looking at that error message it seems something is wrong with the data it's reading from, not sure if it's a typo, file corruption etc.

i think the rear suspension may be too low, so its bottoming out the shocks and bouncing back up. maybe if you were to lift the rear and increase the compression and stiffness then i might not bounce as much... dont quote me on it though..

The bouncing on the rear end looks like a bump stop problem. The axle is barely able to move up or down. Several things have the maximum and minimum travel on them tho.

Definitely not the greatest mod ever, but it is a great start, and you can (hopefully) only get better from this point. Also, it’s better than anything 99.9% of BeamNG players have ever gotten close to making, so you’ve got that going for you lol. PS: It’s my personal opinion that this isn’t of the quality yet to be a paid mod, if you compare it to stuff like the paid mods by LJ74 and LucasBE you’ll find that it doesn’t really match that quality standard. People sell mods that are much worse than yours, but it doesn’t mean they’re worth purchasing, especially when there are so many free mods out there that have much better quality, and LucasBE and LJ74’s mods are often cheaper than them. Also, it wouldn’t be legal to sell this because the GNX is a real vehicle and J can guarantee that Buick/GM holds the copyright to it, selling it infringes on those rights (yes I’m aware that LOTS of people sell low quality paid mods for real vehicles, but that doesn’t make it any less illegal).
