3 жыл бұрынIn this video I plastidip the emblems on my 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime. I do a step by step towards the middle of the video. Stick around to the end to see how it all turned out.
I also added PPF, ceramic coating and tint to my 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime but that is for a future video.

Nice. Picked up my White RAV4 prime SE. Loved your window visor recommendation. Will pick it up. Planning to DIY ceramic coat next week. Also planning to paint brake calipers red, wanted to pick your brain on that.

Be careful with the front Toyota logo on the grille... the adaptive cruise radar unit lives behind the logo emblem so if you cover it, it may alter the effectiveness of the cruise and you may hit someone or get an error message.

I'm interested to know how it turns out after the detailing + ceramic (and how long the plasti-dip holds up). (I've an older RAV4 and toying with the idea of doing some plasti-dip or even bed liner maybe 1/2 way below the belt line.)

Thanks! I would like to find a replacement badge or cover that has a black toyota logo with a red accent behind it to replace the blue. I haven't had time to search for one yet.

Did you get the XSE prime yet? We wanted one but was told the wait is about one year so we just got a XSE Hybrid for now.

You can try lifting plasti dip from between the letters using toothpick - I've done it this way on my car and it worked great. Also next time try HyperDip Shadow Black spray, it gives more smooth and satin finish than regular plasti dip :)

Thanks for the pointers. I did try a toothpick but I couldn't get it to lift. I didn't want to scratch the car so I left it.

You planning to do the rims? I got my white prime XSE and bought the emblem blackout covers. I wish I saw your video before I bought it. Costed me over $100.

I thought about it. I should do them when they are new but I havent. I would like to replace the wheels with something lighter and more stylish eventually. I am sure your covers look great too though!

don't change any of the color anything in the front. But do this see if you can get the accent lights from the dealer that the XSE come with and instill them. As I know Toyota, if nothing have changed over the years, the wires connection should already be there. But before you do that fins out it you will need a relay for it or a stock switch change out. For example I have a 2001 corolla LE that do not come with fog lights, but I notice that there wires are there for it. so I did a little KZfaq search, and found that I will need a relay and and a different stock switch that have the on of switch on it for the fog light. I ordered both and installed them , so I now have functional fog lights.

@@JamesKlafehn I will second that. If I had the money I would have gone for the XSE Prime too, but both are out of my buy range and attempting a loan is still a little to high for me for both trims. So I plan to get a loan sometime once I am recall to work if or when this pandemic end, I want to get the regular RAV4 Hybrid XSE to replace my 2001 corolla. When I got the corolla, I original was trying to get a RAV4, but did not have enough down payment for it.

We are taking delivery of our prime this week. Ours comes with the blacked out logos from Toyota. I haven’t seen them yet but I’m curious how that compares to what you’re doing here

IDK what they charged you but probably over $100 for them. A can of plastidip is $7. You also have the flexibility to do what I did in the video. Lastly, people have said that it makes the logo look large and thick because it is a cover over the existing logo.

@@JamesKlafehn $175.... since the cars are so hard to get I’m not going to let that stop me but it is excessive. I like the way the rear black emblem looks. The other ones I’m not a huge fan of... I was wondering: when in “manual” mode , going downhill and downshifting, does that increase the re-gen or does it just use more engine breaking?

@@TeddyD802Yeah I would still buy the car even though it has them. The car is very hard to come by and its only $175. Manual mode? You cant downshift in an SE, it doesnt have the paddle shifters.

Pete Galindez I didn’t tape off each letter. You don’t do that with plastidip. I talk about it at the end when I’m peeling it off.

Ahhh...that’s not tape you’re peeling off...it’s the plasti-dip material! Got it. Seems like it would have been easier to take off the emblems, dip them, and then put them back on, no? Then you don’t have to deal with taping off, overspray, and trying to get the plasti-dip out of each nook and cranny? Your car is black, so not a big deal, but I can imagine on a light colored car you would see any extra plasti-dip that isn’t removed...it would look terrible. Just a thought. Otherwise, looks very cool. Nice job!

@@petegalindez9961 Definitely wouldnt be easier. Because you'd then have to clean the used double stick tape off of the emblem and re apply more. Cutting the exact shape of each letter in 3m strip tape would not be easy. And there is no way to know if you get them straight when you put them back on. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it!

I showed a photo of my pick tool. Just gently pull it off. It’s only held on by double stick tape

@@JamesKlafehn Thanks for the info. Can't wait for Canada to get the Prime!! if you get your XSE, let me know if it has the auto-starter function through the FOB. In other models with the audio plus - you can do auto-start by: pushing the lock button twice and then holding lock button. (neat little included feature if it does)

Kyle Warren bot models have an a/c button on the remote. I don’t think it heats the car. Just ac. I’ll know for sure in 1-2 months when cold weather is here lol

@@JamesKlafehn yea definitely, be good to know for these northern winters. If it more climate, then just A/C. if not, will have to see if the auto-start is available in the XSE and just leave the heat on and do it that way.

Only thing I see you did wrong was I usually peel dip tape around edges like when it is wet it comes cleaner otherwise 👍🏾

@@InternetDude I purchased a 2013 Nissan Leaf and put the Model S for sale. I may just keep the Leaf until the EV industry technology improves! The Leaf is a good around town car and is MUCH more efficient than the Model S. More miles per kWHr and less miles lost overnight!

Idk. That’s why I haven’t done it yet. Plastidip pulls right off of it does interfere with the radar though

Um... You've dipped the exhaust tips? They can get pretty hot, I don't know if that's a good idea.

I googled it. Plastidip can withstand the heat. Picture plastidip on the hood of a car in Arizona. Now that’s hot! Also, the tips are just decoration. They barely touch the exhaust. Lastly, the gas engine is rarely on and definitely won’t get hot

@@JamesKlafehn OK, that makes sense, they say it's ok up to 200F. I would be worried only on long highway driving with engine on 99% time, but it will be cooled down by air at the same time.

@@dempsej I dipped mine on the gas engine and all the vehicles I own it holds up to heat better than most actual paint honestly .I used it on valve covers under the hood and it holds up perfect for years

Subie Diaries haha you have been watching! I still have them and the coop is done. It’s quite nice if I say so myself. But those videos only have a couple hundred views after many months so I didn’t do any more. People didn’t seem to care. But we love the coop and all the eggs. The chickens are very friendly. They are always hanging out when we’re outside.
