I put Nook Miles in Animal Crossing GameCube

I've spent the last several months developing a program similar to Nook Miles in Animal Crossing New Horizons that rewards you with tickets for completing tasks as you play the game. These tickets can then be exchanged for items in the shop that you can obtain in the game using the existing Nook code system.
This is not a mod, this is a standalone program that you play at the same time as Animal Crossing GameCube!
If you'd like to try it out, I've released this program open source completely free on my Github page, found above! Please carefully read the README included with the download link. You will need a monitor with 1920x1080 resolution to play!

I'm so happy someone else still loves this game! Funny story: I built two towns, and the blue bear Kody moved in. He stayed for a long while, then crossed over into my other town. I have played the game off and on for decades at this point. Somewhere along the way, my clock broke, so my neighbors don't move, and it's very hard to find Wendell, Gulliver, etc... But, Kody stays right where I left him. We've been friends for about 19 years lol!

This is the coolest idea ever! It's like the equivalent of playing a board game with your own custom game pieces. As a kid we would use cool rocks, my little ponies, or lego people when playing board games. You aren't altering the rules of the game at all! You are just amplifying it with your own little additions. Enjoy games how you want to enjoy them! This makes me want to try my hand at streaming so badly.

This is such a great idea! Nook Miles was one of my favorite features in ACNH and I love seeing something similar implemented here. Your AC videos are always so comforting and nostalgic, I love every single one of them. Thank you for all that you do to breathe life into this cozy game.

Very nice! Did you look at the Dolphin memory address reader? It could possibly allow you to read memory addresses on the fly - so if your villager has an animation of successfully pulling a fish, you could tell the program to update the task. Great program, I hope ACGC gets more modding in the future.

You could maybe interface this with Retroachievements when that gets fully supported by Dolphin. That would be atleast some beginning to make it auto update.

About the 1080p requirement: well, Steam Decks internal screen is 1280x800, so thats a bit sad

Yeah, having it as a companion app on a smaller, movable screen like that which you could carry around with you would be good. The way I have my setup, it'd be difficult to play AC on GameCube while also having the tickets app within reach in a way that's actually comfortable and easily accessible. Having bilinear-filtered downscaling would help a ton right there since the assets wouldn't need to be adjusted.

I hope this eventually has support for smaller resolution screens, since my main pc monitor is 1600x900. Right now if i want to use it i need to connect my tv and swap the video input over.

impressive, love it, installed this but its a bit clunky as I cant back out of menus, some of the bubbles are labeled wrong, I dont understand the furni catalogue if I cant actually have the item in game? But I love the tasks and earning points is so fun and the design is cute!!!! :)

Changing your computer settings may help w visual glitches (until I fixed it the back button was 'off-screen'). I had to change from 200% to 100%, and then adjust the resolution to my liking. The 'catalogue' in this case is just the list of items you've redeemed with Nook miles, so you can see their passwords and get them in-game.

So you can just cheat them and get whatever you want? I kinda expected something akin to the Kingdom Hearts 2 randomizer tracker. Which tracks everything automatically. (As long as you didn't forget to load the settings before starting the run)

I will make more e+ content if/when a full translation is completed. So don't expect it anytime soon, but there is hope for the future!

Does the program work in conjunction with a clean emulation on Dolphin? I don't have a Gamecube anymore, and my Wii is boxed up somewhere 😂

Its much cheaper and more convenient to buy a wii off Facebook marketplace than to get your hands on an gamecube. Just a tip. If you keep looking, ive seen a deal for 2 wiis for 30 bucks lol.

@@ScriptCatz would have to first port it to something I could actually run under Linux. But someone on the GitHub is already looking into a web version, so it would be better to just wait a bit to see if that at least gets started.

@@mystraunt2705 a crusty old 1366x768 monitor. So the current program would look massive lol. I haven't tried but I'd guess it's mostly the images that stop it from working all that well. Or the entire thing was made with absolute coordinates for 1080p, no idea.

(Sorry for bad English) The nook codes only works for the U.S version or also works for Spanish version? I Want It in my town but idk if that's gonna work :(

If the item you redeem has a quickcode it seems to work, but otherwise the codes seem only to work with an US version of the game.

I could definitely see some improvements made by allowing this to hook into an emulator. Reading hex data in real time could allow for automatic completion of some tasks, as well as automatic checklist completion and maybe catalouge syncing? I don't really know what games store in hex, so I can't offer much in the way of suggestions.

Have you considered trying this with any other ac games? I could see wild world and city folk being able to use a custom server designed to transfer items over! I know wiimmfi has had some event items distributed that way and I’m pretty sure you can use it to inject custom items into the game
